@Patrick Crain Russo was only in charge of WCW creative for 3 months before creative was restructured into a booking committee consisting of around 8-10 people that had to agree on everything. That's not enough time to draw big ratings as in a full point. That takes time and consistency as we saw with RAW in 1997-98. WCW in 2000 was not Russo's sole vision but he's constantly blamed for it. Eric Bischoff was there, Tony Schiavone was there, Disco Inferno was there, Ed Ferrara was there, Kevin Sullivan was there, JJ Dillon was there, Jeremy Borash was there and Terry Taylor was there. That's too many cooks in the kitchen, but Russo did push for Booker T to go over as champion, and Nitro's ratings did start climbing again towards the end of the summer in 2000. As for an innovative gimmick I would suggest David Flair and Daphne as the insane couple in 1999. It was a complete transformation for David Flair and they were both brilliant at it. The feud with Ric Flair produced some great segments such as the one at Flair's house. Creative Control was unique in terms of pro wrestling too (it was a play on Steinbrenner from Seinfeld but nobody in wrestling had done it for an authority figure as far as I'm aware). Russo kept Nitro's ratings above a 3.0 for the most part during his first run after they had dropped to a 2.6.

Sorry but that's not how television works. Literally nobody in the history of the wrestling business has done that. Even regular episodic television shows can't do that lol. Look at hit shows like The Walking Dead. That show didn't hit its ratings peak until season 5. It took years of steady growth to hit that height, they didn't just make some big leap during season 1. It's much easier to lose viewers with bad TV than it is to gain them with good TV, especially if the show had been in decline to lose the trust of those viewers in the first place. Again, as RAW showed us in 1997 it took them 9 months to a year to start winning the trust of the audience back after years of Wrestlecrap gimmicks following the Hulkamania era. It was throughout 1998 that you really started to see the viewership grow.

Consider: How does one keep the feud alive for attention when one party opts out? It would help if he brought receipts that led up to the EPO instead of just expecting us to believe these claims. He (Cornette) never threatened his family. He called Vince’s wife, Amy a “saint”, because she lives with Russo. He never threatened his kids, he called them “little rag a muff’s” for shooting him with Super Soakers at a BBQ at Bruce Prichards house. “But, I can forgive his kids, because they never screwed me over.” Vince has accused Jim of wanting to sleep with Amy, but Jim has said many times “I’m not attracted to Amy in any way shape or form. His kids are little hell demons, but I can overlook that. It’s s*it stain I have a problem with.” Jim has said a LOT of things about Russo, but he’s kept his kids and his wife out of it.
