Uh, sir, I need my video game retrospectives to be given to me by a nerd. You look like you can get laid, and clearly know your way around a weight room. Therefore, I shall take any info provided in this video with a grain of salt.

@lorenmorgan19312 күн бұрын
Glad to see you back! This is an awesome one. I was just starting my first job in the arcades as this tech marvel was coming out. That much like MK months before it drastically changed the clientele that was not only drifting into arcades, but was pretty much living there after school. These machines shipped with oversized coin drawers and were having to be emptied on Friday afternoon just to make it to Sunday evening. I have no mental reference of what the teenage crowd was like in the Pacman fever era, but even my boss at the arcade said he had never seen anything like this before, even in the 80s when Dragonslayer came out. We had a few Midway (Jam/MK) machines and people lined up to battle the next winner from open to close on weekends, and holiday weeks in the winter hours. Anyways thanks again for the awesome content!

From around 1987 to 1998 I was really into basketball and the NBA. I played it on teams, collected basketball cards, had jerseys and clothing, new shoes each year, went to basketball camps in the summer, and watched it all the time on TV. I also was VERY into video games throughout that time. Both in arcades and at home, having as many as 5 home consoles at my peak. NBA Jam was a game that I really enjoyed. To some extent it was limited, and a short play. Nothing like Legend of Zelda Link to the Past or others like that. But it was just fun. I played it in arcades and on my SNES. It was a real mark of that time. Something I’ll always associate with the early and mid-90’s.

Growing up in Chicago and seeing Midway put out machines before anywhere else was something else. I'll never forget at around age 8 at Just Games on Harlem Avenue a 20-something year old came in and plopped a quarter on the MK II screen I was at. He would eventually perform a Fatality on me, revert it to a Babality, back into fighter form.. and then into another Babality before exploding the baby into a Fatality. As the only witness to that, none of my friends at the time believed me.

Despite not actually ever playing it, I've seen quite a few documentaries about NBA Jam here on YT. They all mostly cover the same stuff, I was worried this was gonna be another rehash of basically the same things, but yours actually stood on its own and went over a lot of things that weren't covered in those. Really awesome. Wasn't much of a football guy, but I used to play a ton of NFL Blitz though ("I brought the hurt on you boy!" lives in my head rent-free). Cool to see that it shares a common thread with Jam. Maybe I oughta play it some time. Great work my dude. Love that you're back in action.
