ChiGuy251 haha I doubt guys like hogan or Hennig were that desperate to return to the wwe at the time, both did in the end and look at what happened! With only one company in business it left lots and lots of talent in awkward positions so stuff like xwf appeared. Most wcw guys who came back or went there got buried, jobbed out or screwed in some form. I don’t blame Sting for holding out for a long ass time.

Long time watcher, first time commenter. I think there is another DVD set with all ten episodes that Highspots and Jimmy Hart put out later than the set you have. Can't find it at the moment to check the dates. The Alice Cooper - Milwaukee moment was a nice touch as Milwaukee was the location of one of the few house shows they ran. I was there. The ring was supplied by Jake Milliman (of AWA 'fame'). Had an amusing moment when we realized Vampiro and Norman Smiley were ahead of us in the line for concessions. I remember feeling bad for Greg Valentine as he could barely move back then. I still have the t shirt.

I was working for an indie fed in Wisconsin and Illinois (NAWF) and when the XWF did a show in Milwaukee they used our ring and we got to be ring crew and hang out behind the scenes. When I first met Norman Smiley he was doing the dance backstage and me and my friend looked at each other and said “It’s a shoot!” I remember Piper, The Road Warriors, Big Vito, and Josh Matthews and Kid Cash. Also, props to Josh Matthews for taking like 50 chops from Kid Cash. It was brutal.

I think one of the big things up and coming promotions can learn from this is not to be too reliant/dependant on *big names* to sell your brand. It's best to use them sparingly, whilst building your up your roster of lesser known/new talent.

@hugoalynstephens9166 5 жыл бұрын
I got the feeling they used some of the bigger names like Curt Hennig, Bobby Heenan, Roddy Piper and Greg Valentine well enough. Just seems like almost everyone else (including, obviously Sable and Hogan) shouldn't really be there and their spots could have been given to the new guys to get them built up and over if they weren't already.

What always catches my attention on these DVDs is that every time you see someone wearing an XWF shirt the logo is a completely different design than all the other ones. I honestly don't know if that's because they were so confident in success that they went gung-ho with their merch, or they just couldn't make up their minds on something as basic as what the logo should look like and spent a ton of money constantly redesigning it.

@LBastone

Wrestling With Wregret I am friends with a lot of belt collectors and just a few months ago one of them were selling the ring used world heavyweight belt held by Viscera and Jerry the King Lawler and I bought it from him. There are 3 in existence that JMar (the belt maker made) but only one was ring used and the other 2 were supposed to be back ups (which obviously weren’t needed) The ring used one that I own is the only one with a 6th logo plate and many more bolts in the back than the other two that other private collectors own. It is a very cool belt to own indeed. It was also used in Puerto Rico when they did the storyline of XWF invading a Mexican wrestling promotion.
