Bret Hart said Jerry Lawler stiffed him with the sceptre. Hart said he later on got a receipt on Lawler by really cranking on a Sharpshooter. Lawler didn't even realize he was getting a receipt and just dismissed it as "the Hart boys must work pretty stiff". Another interesting story? Bret had gotten his feelings hurt over the stuff Lawler was saying on TV about his parents. But Stu and Helen Hart later told Bret they loved Lawler's jokes and he made them feel like a part of the show. A lot of people say Bret Hart takes things a little too seriously so I guess I can believe his parents telling him "Lighten up, we ARE old!"

Here are five things you forgot to mention, Zane: 1.Throughout the PPV, everyone refers to Dayton, Ohio just as "the heartland of America". 2.In a dark match, Papa Shango retained the USWA Unified World Title against Owen Hart. 3.Mr. Hughes' planned bout with The Undertaker never took place as Hughes left for ECW around SummerSlam. 4.This is the third time Jim Duggan was ever pinned on PPV; the first two times were to Ted DiBiase at WrestleMania 4 in 1988, and to Kendo Nagasaki (the one who wrestled in WCW as Dragon Master, not the World of Sport legend) at the WWF/SWS crossover event WrestleFest in 1991. 5.New Japan Pro Wrestling referee Tiger Hattori was considered to officiate the Hulk Hogan/Yokozuna match and clearly would've helped Yoko win.

I'm a lifelong, die hard Hitman fanatic and have always loved this PPV because it's such a showcase of how extraordinary Bret really was. Yes, HBK and Diesel got over, but imo, Bret really carried the weight of the company on his shoulders from late 1992 until the company started gaining steam in 1996-97..... With Bret vs. Austin being a major contributor to that momentum. Best there is, best there was, best there ever will be. 🩷🖤🩷🖤

I liked the 96 KOTR format where they did the first rounds on TV before the PPV. As a kid I didn’t understand why the championship match wasn’t last. But just as you said the program was all Bret. Really pushed him and in a way it was HIS ppv. With context there was so much to come after this and things were starting to change. I didn’t like some of the outfits, like you said it was like changing of the old guard in a way, some dudes still looking goofy. I remember loving Bam Bam and finding him so intimidating. I wasn’t really a Hulk fan, in my house, my dad was always fan of the heels so I always followed him. So Yokozuna winning the title we were really hyped about that. As a kid I didn’t know who Jerry Lawler was so I really thought he was an actually king and was upset that now Bret was a king of the ring 😅. Idk maybe I’m a bit old school or like my wrestling different. I feel like nowadays it’s a lot more fast paced and alot of the moves being used have me desensitized. Just my thoughts. I appreciate going back and watching the old stuff. Good work. A fan always.

I was a Crockett raised wrasslin' fan so I only heard about Hulk but never saw him. I watch the old Hukamania stuff with a very jaundiced eye.

Surprised to see no one pointing out that the inaugural Survivor Series was 87, not 89. Kinda sad that all three of Bret's opponents for this show are no longer with us but i guess it's hard to find many wrestlers from this era that are still aroun

This was the first PPV I ever attended, 13 years old and first time with floor seats too. I can still spot myself many times in the upper left hand corner when rewatching. I'm the skinny geek with glasses. 30 years later in nearly the same seating area I watched AEW's Dynamite, my first live show in 6 years and first AEW. Good times.

Wrestling With Wregret- Great impersonation of Bret "The Hitman" Hart around 9:06-9:10 by Brian Zane. Excellent work!... I'm a big fan of Bret "The Hitman" Hart & I, personally can't think of anybody else who would be able to do a darn-near perfect/spot-on impersonation like the one that we just heard, for example...

I won't lie, without the proper context of knowing things and the moment that photo was took, I looked at the thumbnail and thought: "When did Hulk Hogan shoot fire from his nipples?" Either way, good video!

While I'm sure it was totally coincidental, it was kind of fitting that the Nutter Center would be the arena where Bret finally made his return to WWE in 2012, 19 years after his iconic KOTR performance in 1993. Instead of a place that would remind him of sad memories, Bret instead got to make his return in an arena that held fond memories... even if both times the shows in the Nutter Center ended with Bret getting made a fool of by someone (Lawler in 1993, Vince in 2012).

Such an impressive performance from Bret. Usually (at least in North American wrestling) when a wrestler is in some sort of one-night tournament and has to wrestle 3 (or more) matches, at least one of those matches will be intentionally booked to be shorter. But Bret's like, nah f- that, I'm going to wrestle 3 matches that range from very good to outstanding.

Those “Japanese photographers” at ringside covering the Hogan-Yokozuna match were actually actors, though some of the pics did end up on other wrestling magazines. And the bearded, hippie-looking photog who threw a fireball at Hogan was Harvey Wippleman in disguise.

I’m always so impressed with Bret Hart and Mr Perfect, such great chemistry and work rate between them. Also man, how can you screw up a passing of the torch between Hogan and Hart, all because of backstage politics. For a request for a future video, top 8 biggest backstage politicians.

I actually liked Hogan/Yoko. I loved the "Pro wrestling psychology" of Hogan "using his Hulk up energy" to kick out of one of Yokozuna's secondary moves. So that made it feel like he was in BIG trouble. lol

That’s honestly a high point of the match for me. It sells Yokozuna as a monster by forcing Hulk to “Hulk Up” after something that wasn’t the Banzai.
