He told me a story about a day they were filming on the water and Hulk Hogan was driving the boat. @@bigjohnsbreakfastlog5819 Kinda feeling like both. Hogan and Savage were more worldwide known names, but they catered too much to who they brought on to appease Hogan. And we see that by Fall Brawl, as Brian mentions, with Hacksaw steamrolling Austin for the US Title. It isn't like Austin was chopped liver and got the US Title by a fluke. But on the bright side, it eventually gave us the late 90s boom, even if it took a long, long while to get there.

Give them a classic hulk hogan victory and remind people why they loved the guy. the only problem is they should have immediately done something different with him right after. they tried that with the dungeon of doom, but how great would it have been if hulk debuted, and then 6 months later the outsiders emerged. It's so wild to realize that this WCW PPV featured Steve Austin, Mick Foley, and Hulk Hogan, in consecutive matches no less(!), yet come just one year later the first two would be gone & reinventing themselves (Superstar Steve Austin & hardcore-hating Cactus Jack) over in ECW. Just one of those "This sounds so unbelievable!" things, in retrospect.

I find it amazing that bash at the beach has never ceased to be one of the biggest shows for wcw despite such a variance in quality. It's either its amazing or it's 2000, but it's always a big deal.

Yep Bash at the Beach was one of WCW's big PPVs along with Starrcade and Halloween Havoc. Fall Brawl/War Games would be next just a bit below those big three.
