Listen to Eric Bischoff’s podcast when he talks about TNA. It was the ultimate failed potential mess. A TV company that wanted to do everything for them, and a company that wouldn’t do anything for itself.

@@robertpeacock894 yup, TNA since day one really. They could have been what AEW is now but, nope. Jeff Jarrett made it a play ground for him and his buddies and then Bob Carter bought it to give Dixie a plaything and the saddest part is that now that they finally have people who know what they're doing and want to make it sucessful, it's been tainted so bad that I honestly don't know if they ever can turn it around. Hogan and his pals took all of Dreamer's well deserved spotlight. Even now he's still trying to save this lost cause of a company. The guy has been TNA's MVP for a decade. For me, the most baffling thing about the "Slick Johnson having sex with Madison Rayne in exchange for biased refereeing in favor of the Beautiful People" reveal is how Madison, upon running into Lauren, she tells Lauren to keep her mouth shut about this -- **DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA THAT WAS ALREADY IN THE ROOM**. Like, this wasn't the kind of wrestling segment where there's a camera, but you're meant to suspend your disbelief a bit and not acknowledge the camera; it was literally a segment of Lauren speaking to the fans and the commentary table specifically to give them a follow-up on the Slick Johnson thing from the opener. The fact that people outside of the room were watching the segment, and everyone in it, AS IT HAPPENED IN REAL TIME, was acknowledged, which means the camera was part of the segment and was there the whole time, SO HOW EXACTLY WAS LAUREN MEANT TO NOT TELL ANYONE ABOUT MADISON BOINKING SLICK WHEN A LIVE CAMERA CAUGHT THEM IN THE ACT???

Nash was also against the idea MEM because it always led to the younger getting beaten. When TNA wanted to reform MEM in 2011, Nash said he would do it if they made the younger talent look credible vs MEM. But after seeing Angle beat down a younger star, Nash left for WWE. At least that’s what I heard.

If there is a voice for pro wrestling here on KZbin, it is you in my opinon. Not taking anything away from other wrestling focused channels, cause I love quite a few of them, but you are the MVP for sure. Your videos have an addicting quality to them, especially your classic ppv reviews. I can't possibly imagine how much work is put in to these videos. The shows that are a slog to get through must be brutal, like this one haha. Anyway, I love what you do, keep killing it.

As someone who was actively watching TNA during this time I can say this was probably the beginning of the end for the promotion. Just one year earlier TNA had been at it's absolute peak with the MEM in top form. They were doing so well that they were actually starting to steal fans away from WWE, who were doing an especially lackluster job at the time. A lot of people thought we were going into another war, but it quickly simmered out and after this things were just never the same.

I always took him as a "parody" of Eugene Landy (Brian Wilson's controversial psychiatrist), so it kind of makes sense in that context. I think Daniels was one of those weird workarounds when he kept getting fired and rehired under different gimmicks. Curious how the Han/Leia reference came about. Also mysterious in that he never made reference to or interacted with Abyss' father and brother. Why they couldn't have the wrestlers in each persons corner wrestle for them vs standing their uselessly.

@@alphonsemaina8293 Cornette walked out of companies for far lesser reasons. Given how much he cares about the sanctity of pro wrestling (when he's not cosplaying as a ninja turtle), he should've walked out on Russo and Dixie the moment he realized he was outvoted. It's not like he needed money, he's well off.

@@icewinddale2675 He did want to walk out. Jerry Jarrett is the one who talked him into staying as he wanted Cornette to look out for his former promotion. Cornette stayed because he respected Jerry. He stayed for as long as he could and then said fuck it and left after he was snitched on by Russo. Russo was a whiny arse who had Dixie around his fat finger. Simple as that. Also about the turtle thing he was supposed to get humiliated because he was a heel at the time and the Turtles were popular so it made sense.
