At least Punk has been vindicated in those fans eyes that realize they were being tricked by at the time a one sided story and regardless has moved on to a very entertaining story with the Drew feud. I'm a self-admitted WWE lifer thanks to how it influenced my childhood and helped me build friendships. But I fully recognize the positives of having competitive companies like AEW around and getting CM Punk back into the business is a big feather in their cap. And Tony Khan's done good in several instances, like with helping Brodie Lee's family and letting Regal go so he can coach his son in NXT. But it was so frustrating to see how things had gone and watch all of the potential business and money to be made go up in smoke.

You've been listening to the idiotic critics who sound really enlightening about all sorts of things, but... They're actually all about micromanagement. If you look closely you'll realise they think everything about wrestling should revolve around micromanagement systems. The eternal question "How does someone get over?" - The answer is however it happens, it's just going to happen. An amazing idea brilliantly executed might not get over, could be the most ingenious idea ever for a wrestling character... It really might not get over. Getting over is all about little nuances the audience start to love (example, the way Austin walked to the ring. People just dug that as well as several other things, but that was an early thing. Guarantee you never in a conversation about "what wrestling needs" has it ever been simplified down to stuff like walking styles catching on. I did too, so not being a bighead here.

1. Page's comments were no more severe than Eddie Kingston's. In fact "CM Punk is an asshole" was kind of a running theme in his feuds. "No-one wants you here!" 2. The Miz's Talking Smack promo was unplanned and brought up real life frustrations. It's many people's favourite promos. Same with Samoa Joe's verbal assasination of Scott Hall in TNA. 3. He kept from directly mentioning Cabana so that it could still tie into the story of their feud without actually making backstage rumours public. If he had said "Colt got fired because of you." This would be a different story. 4. Adding personal stuff into a feud is a great way to make it feel heated and personal. It's basic wrestling 101. 5. Punk did not respond in kind, nor did he handle it backstage in a "What the Hell?!!" moment. Instead, he waited MONTHS after the fact to publically bitch to a guy who wasn't even at the show, or even in a feud with him. THAT, is "Coward shit". at least Page said what he said to Punk's face when they were in a promo battle. 6. And I have to stress this: IT WAS A FUCKING PROMO! One big glaring difference between AEW and WWE is that NO ONE goes to business for themselves on WWE TV as Adam Page and Jungle Boy did in AEW. This isn't to justify CM Punk's actions, starting fights is a boneheaded thing to do, but had Adam Page not shot on live TV as he did, CM Punk would still be in AEW. The one rule in Pro Wrestling is to never go into business for yourself to get yourself over and Adam Page broke that rule hard.

A couple points: First- thank you for a mature take on everything. It is refreshing to hear a take that isn’t completely one-sided (regardless of which side). They were all acting like spoiled brats at certain times and it all should have been avoided if they had a boss instead of a friend. Second- I disagree about Punk’s firing. It’s not Danielson I have a problem with. It’s Megha, the head of legal. She was directly involved with his first incident and should not have been included in any decision. She was a party to at least half of his “cause” of being fired, yet she was one of the ones making the recommendation? That screams conflict of interest way more than Danielson. And third- I might be the only person who thinks Punk will succeed in WWE this time around. He knows it’s his last real chance, he has seen how the other side operates and will probably go out of his way to avoid situations where he has to be “that guy,” and he’s not around the guys who were putting out perceived lies in the dirt sheets anymore, so that’s a bit less stress he has to deal with.
