Following promotion out of the National League, Wrexham FC have returned to League 2 and face their toughest season yet since they left the EFL 15 years ago. Backed by Hollywood actors, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, can they go back-to-back and get this old Welsh club promoted to League 1 at the first time of asking?
This is part 1 of a 3 episode series which will cover Wrexham FC's 2023-24 season.

My interest in Wrexham is seeing the change in the town. Coming from a small mining town in the US, I feel almost akin to the folks there. I think the real story is how much other investment into the town, women's football, etc... that they've done. I'm happy for the community and the club.

Thanks for a great video. I'm watching it from Chicago in the United States. I bought a season pass to Ifollow so that I can stream the game from here. But it is great to see a synopsis like this.

Where did you buy a seasons pass? I am from Texas and a new fan of futbol /soccer. I broke my back and have been off work since before Christmas. I moved in with my son and he got me to watch and their struggles and triumphs have helped me get my fighting spirit back. I am having back surgery soon and I need to watch these games!!! Please share a link.

Good breakdown of the season so far, Wrexham are the fairytale, yes the owners have invested heavily in the club but doesn’t every fan of every club wish they had the same type of owners. Just because they bought players in form higher divisions doesn’t mean you are automatically a better team. Parky has done wonders with the squad, they have a belief and play to the final whistle which is why they have won/drawn games in the last minute. I believe they can continue on their current run and gain automatic promotion. Stockport are on a decent run and April 27th could be a clash of the Titans, but we still have such a long season ahead so it’s everything to play for. Look forward to part 2 in early 2024👍🇬🇧

Elliot Lee has clearly been a level above whenever i've seen him play, coming from the leagues above must count for something! Hope to improve and impress with my next video though

I don't see what the problem is with bringing in money to build up the club. They may be spending more than other clubs in their current league now but when they inevitably go up to the next league they'll be on par or close to other clubs. They'll have to continue spending if they expect to keep moving up and if they want to compete with the teams in those leagues. I think those who complain are either jealous or salty that they weren't lucky enough to be bought by Ryan & Rob.

I see so many having a go at Foster (this video in the first minute has shown him a few times already), he signed for pennies and barely negotiated a thing. The others, I can't argue with, but "Keep Fozzy's name out of your mouth"

He was too old to play at the level they needed him to, Realised and bowed out gracefully. Honestly massively respect him for that, he was there when they really needed him to be.That penalty save will live forever in club history. I doubt he'll ever need to pay for a beer in Wrexham as long as he lives.

If money guaranteed results. Every PL would win the league. It’s coaching and players buying into the system. The only people that that criticize are the jealous ones

I can't see why Wrexham cannot get to the championship league within the next 5 years. The real question is whether the owners can get enough money to get Wrexham into the premier league. I mean, they're going up against Saudi prince money at that point.

Wrexham ended up in the national league due to their players being bought up after a top season. Getting out of it by playing the same cards is fair.

Good video, I have to disagree with your assesment of the impact of Hollywood money, Nottscounty also whent up, and they did not have the Bob and Ryan structure, besides that, awesome content, I subscribed.

Don't get me wrong - I'm on the Wrexham bandwagon, but this is just proof that money matters! Granted, the players brought in were well chosen, so hats off to management for that, but none of the players mentioned would be there if the money wasn't right. As for it not being fair, this is a perfect model to emulate; go get sports stars and/or celebrities to bankroll your club. It can be done

Buying success, which is what it is and good luck to them, costs relatively little at this level but starts costing serious money when you get to the Championship, let alone the premier, and at some stage the financial fair play rules will have to be taken into account.

Of course the recent rise of Wrexham is mostly because of the rich investors. But at least the investors are human beings capable of love, and not someone like Red Bull.

The only difference is Disney are paying for it all, so technically its self sufficient until the owners leave or get bored in the next 5 years.

"so that's just how it is now" blimey! the reference to basically having a championship team in league 2. How do you just dismiss it like that? I don't get your logic that things are bad, but ok, let's just leave it because its ok for Wrexham.

Christian, where did you get this arbitrary period of 30 years for the impact of money in the game of football. You need to look at Real Madrid in the 50's and have a look at the money they were paying for the stars of the day. Their wage bill by the standards of the day was massive and it bought them the European Cup a record 7 times. They continued on into the 70's still spending a fortune so no, massive expenditure did not begin in the 90's.

Ya, we all got excited to hear they playing against Man U and Chelsea till we found out it's against their U21 teams, it's called "false" advertisement. you made it sound like they played against the big boys which they didn't. that being said, let's go Red Dragons.

As a woman I agree! But as usual everyone has to be inclusive. So we end up with hour long episodes on a team nobody cares about. I pay for Disney+ to watch the men’s team, and the entertainment and value that provides.

Disagree, I liked the background stories. It is about Wrexham not just the FC. The townspeople, the area, the league, I even think they should talk more about Notts County. I am from Southern California and although I love "football" I knew nothing about the EFL before the show. Now I see how Notts is also making a great run and side by side with Wrexham as they both move up. They deserve a little shine on them as well. Love the story about the womans team. Unfortunately for them a few of those woman may get picked up by bigger leagues if they keep promoting them like that... But the family stories, the fan stories, it really pulls people into the love of the Wrexham community. Unlike the other docuseries like Sunderland and others, the Wrexham story works.
