Hi! EUCO repair tech here. The first thing I would do is check the fuse with a multimeter in continuity mode. I've already encountered a V8F that had this issue (twice actually, the fuse kept blowing). This may be due to an early-batch hardware fault that IM has identified and fixed. What I did is simply installed a 40-amp fuse instead of the stock 30-amp one, and this solved the issue. The V10/F uses a 40 amp fuse, and the V8F is designed to draw more power than the V8, so really a 40 amp fuse should be installed stock. The fuse is soldered however, so it's a bit of a pain to replace, but this is likely the issue.
@danielerdofi91644 жыл бұрын
Isn't it dangerous to put a 40 amp fuse instread of the 30? Couldn't it be dangerous for the battery or the BMS?
@nicholasmccutcheon10584 жыл бұрын
@@danielerdofi9164 Good question. The V10 already uses a 40 amp fuse, and has the same control electronics as the V8F, just different firmware. Plus, the BMS has its own much higher current limit that will trip if too much power is drawn continuously, but this is very rare. So to answer your question, this is a fairly safe operation. Worst case, is a MOSFET will blow instead of the fuse (this used to happen a lot in Gotway wheels, which were unfused) and a new control board would be required, but this is also extremely unlikely under normal riding conditions.

@@nicholasmccutcheon1058 Hi, I have a problem with a kingsong 18L. The left battery Pack is not giving power to the motor even though it’s charged. Do you think the battery is not working or it has something to do with the motherboard?

I think that you should consider adding one more test to your reviews - getting on e.g. metro during rush hours with the EUC. The small and lightweight wheels are best for mixed commuting and their buyers don't care so much about e.g. hill climbing capabilities.

Well, when you discharge to 0% and ride at the limit on a wheel not meant for insane performance... that’s how you break things. Racked up 2500 miles of daily commuting on my INMOTION v8 and had zero issues.

The selling point of this wheel for me was the weight. I wanted an EUC that could be taken on shuttles, cars, metro, etc without excessive difficulty. It's definitely a great starter wheel because it serves as a good backup wheel or one to loan to your friend to teach. The side lighting is lit (pun intended), especially for night riding and compensates for the negligible back light. Looking forward to the full review!

It's great that you test products in the same conditions. This will make your videos useful and up-to-date and relevant in the future for comparison. I'm pleasantly surprised at how good the V8F performed with you, I honestly didn't expect it to fight so well with the climb. It is very good that inmotion offers a significantly improved product for the same money, which is great for the customer. I started with V10F and grew out of it like you and bought a high end EUC. But I'm glad I have a v10f it's just practical and when I drive completely without protectors on the sidewalks a maximum of 10 km / h to buy goods or I go for something I always reach for it. Sometimes and for some purposes, the "big" EUCs are not entirely practical. And if I weighed less than 90kg, I would replace my V10F with a V8F because the weather resistance and quality of workmanship give me confidence in inmotion and a slightly smaller V8F would make my "small" ride even more practical. Of course, the price-performance ratio of GW and KS products is interesting, I just think that for a layman or a novice rider, thanks to the service and inmotion background, the guarantee of the official warranty service is the choice.👍🏻

I don't understand why you said it's hard to tell which way is front the V8 F only has one headlight that points forward, unlike the kingsong 18l has a headlight on either side that's hard to tell which way is forward. I had a V8 and I loved it I wrote it all over the place until one day I forgot the battery was low and I took off hard and it just shut off and threw me to the ground and put me out of work forever, but now I just bought the v8f and we'll see what happens hopefully they got the safeties in place so they don't just shut off

This happened to me on the V8F, I was going through some very loose dirt and got kinda stuck, the wheel tried real hard to get out and then shut off. I checked the controller and I had blown a fuse. Ewheels is great though so they just sent a replacement controller. Also I did a slow range test (that I didn't complete), I got around 25 miles before I had to stop because of time. I had around 30% battery left when I stopped. I was going on average 10mph and I weigh 120lbs (54kg).

I killed mine almost the exact same way and it was a blown fuse. I wen't up a hill off road that was tough but didn't seem insane to me, then I hit some mud along the hill that cause the wheel to spin and so use more power for some time and it insta died. Seems like it does need a stronger fuse or something. edit: And do you last statement, have you never blown or fried a board in a gotway wheel or something like that? That would be the more expensive equivalent than changing a 1 euro fuse. But yeah the V8 wheels are pretty puny and blow too easily.

Just a hint: Whenever you overpower a EUC of IM, KS or GW (like you did here): When the wheel remains powered ON after the overpower or shutoff, its was firmware protection jumping in to protect hardware. when its powered OFF after such incident, then its a hardware defect. (only BMS shutoff is resetable by charger, but its so low it never kicks in) And actually i have to say i dont now how such tests like those can be run on such small battery? 20s with just 2P ?! How should a battery, only capable of 2x10Amp=20Amps be able to sustain such crazy hill tests? Especially when the battery getting empty and then the cells even need to produce more amps to give you same power as on a high battery! so probably a overpowerFuse blows...or a part of the board. KS/GW 1600wh wheels are 60Amp capable, so sure they dont do such things and can climb hills better and all this torque(amps) related tests. And when we are on that point, just another hint: YES, a KS shouts at you „caution overpower“, when you are near the battery capabilities of 60Amps....for example leaning in on heavy sprint test accelerations or hefty hills. A GW does not...in fact it just ruins its batteries, as it doesnt have any such protections and draws amps that the battery isnt capable of and finally ruin battery chemistry. Nonetheless its not „more powerfull“....it is just not warning you ;-) Other than that, great video production, as always :-)

When he did this he was at 30% battery so he overpower the wheel this is a small wheel and it did pretty good on climbing the hills probably the wheel was not charge to the fullest. My point is that you can't attend to overpower at small wheel when your battery is almost dying on you, especially climbing those hills the way he did at 30%. This should be a commonsense experience to learn.

Informative review thanks, and the many comments on the failure leads to a question. If what burned is a fuse, by design on a maximum current: does it mean that the same can happen at higher speed, leading to a nasty crash? Or this common scenario can for sure only happen near zero speed due to high torque demands. This makes me concerned about safety of the wheel.
