Great work Matt, this series is exceptional. For me, it is the combination of everything coming together so well ... the garage part of OG HQ, including the lift, compressed air and the new & existing tools, combined with the back to basics approach in doing a full correction of the car using all the products & techniques you’ve developed and honed over many years. But what is truly mind-blowing is understanding that all the work you’ve done in developing the garage in OG HQ is informing the garage you’ll build at home when the time is right. The home garage can only be truly awesome! I for one can’t wait!! Keep on keeping on - what you are doing is nothing short of amazing.

The walkaround is definately not a waste of time. It showed us how brilliant you got this job done, but also a few spots/scratches you didn't get out or maybe you chose to be left as they were. Those were not possible to spot during the video as your camera was fixed during your work, so the walkaround was absolutely a good thing. Thanks for the video!

I like coatings. I have one on my car, but I kinda miss applying a wax or a sealant. I think because I miss that feeling of accomplishment when I'm done and admiring the glow and depth of the paint. I need to try the combo on my wife's car. Its a nice dark blue that should look great.

I remember watching this video when it came out - I had just coated my S2000 with Miyabi/ISM and it blew my mind how good the wax looked on the car. Now that my S2000 paint has been marred up by mechanics (and perhaps a little by myself) I'm thinking of seeing how 845 turns out on the surface (though miyabi/ism is still performing really well)

living in Canada, conditions can get extreme at times, especially winter obviously. Summer is normally very dry, and in the prairies, dusty. I've struggled with longevity on anything I've used, tried this combo because, why not. Love it. Going on 3 months now and it looks great still, beads and dries great as well. Both vehicles are garaged when not driven. Never experienced the oils coming to the surface either. Might be a heat/humidity thing that causes that. Only thing I experience is the vehicles become dust magnets after, with any wax or product. So back to the humidity, drying with microfiber in low humidity creates static? Washing and drying this does not happen, so more static created during the wiping off process of the product, who knows, I'm rambling, lol. Great video Matt

Dude, soooo relieved not to see a hose in sight. Spectacular polish & shine results = fantastic finish! Have not used Collinite but have it on the next-to-buy list. Really glad to see an actual wax/hybrid (with hand application!) being reviewed and it's results. A whole review on how it shines! Yes...application and removal techniques but noooo hoses and hydro-phobic blah blah blah, chemical resistance blah blah blah - which yes - I agree to be important attributes but primarily the results of my labors want to reveal a superior SHINE. Just like the one on your 'RX. Thx for that.

Awesome thank you. This is great valuable information. For those who have the question "I'm curious how Collinite 915 is compared to 845 on top of Jescar Power Lock Plus? Anyone have experience with this combo ?" Answer"Collinite 845 has a polymer additive which I assume bonds better to Jescar Power Lock Plus than Collinite 915. I'm guessing based on other online forums the 915 just pops more but doesn't last long."

Jimmyqballs, Me too!! Sweating was soooo bad I had to remove it. But damn it looked good after I applied it. The 845 must be soooo good because IPA, and Gyeon panel wipe would not remove it. I had to use FBomb mixed with distilled water. I think I'll use his method of application as apposed to melting it.

Hey Matt it looks like there are a couple of typos in the Store polishing section. On the Jescar correction compound at the bottom it says "int'l shipping IS available on this (yet)" which I'm guessing should say "IS NOT" since the Sonax page says is not. Also both the Jescar and Sonax pages have this bullet point: "With the combination of this Jescar and the Sonax Perfect Finish I have in the store, I've found this type of medium polish unnecessary." The Jescar and Sonax terms need to be swapped on the Sonax page. Hopefully I can pick up some of these products soon!

Matt. I have two questions. Have you ever substituted 915 for 845 in your process? The second question relates to adding your Power Lock Plus and Collinite to a coating. It seems to be a cardinal sin to top a SIO2 coating with wax and sealant. So, if I’m understanding you correctly about preferring a wax on a weekend warrior due to the “look,” why not get the best of both worlds and apply your Power Lock/Collinite process over a ceramic coating?

I would love u to answer this question! Why dont u use the Collinite 915 pastewax. Im just wondering since it has a far higher grade of canuba in it, and is basicly a far better product quality wise. just asking since everybody talks about this wax+seal combo - but i cant find anyone who did it with the 915 instead of the liquid wax. I wanna try it myself - but any comment on this ??

Thomas Ebdrup good question, I just got some collinite 476s paste wax. Curious about the combo. I'd assume the paste would fill more and have more "glow" but be a little less easy to apply. Maybe last a tiny bit longer. Don't have powerlock to test myself. Maybe I'll get some

Matt, I’m not sure if you’ll see this, I know this is a really old video now but I’ve been searching high and low for your specific opinion on this and I can’t find you talking about it. I’m new to this level of washing/detailing. I’ve been watching you consistently for about a year planning out my house I was building and putting together my new garage. Now I’m in it and ready to get going. Got thousands in gear, floors, lights, product, etc from you and don’t want to screw it up. I just wondered why I see some people using a polisher to apply wax specifically 845, and I have never done that. Never even thought about it. What’s your thoughts on it? There’s got to be a reason you don’t do it. Maybe you like the therapeutic aspect or control you have over the hand application approach? Just wondered this as my detailing time is very precious with a 2 and 4 year old lol. I get very small windows in time to go out and work so just want to try not to waste a ton of time but still enjoy the process. Thanks for everything!

I have a slight dilemma, If I don't own a garage but I do have a driveway, am I able to do the powerlock + 845 combination in the open? Granted the biggest factor will be weather and contaminants, however I aim to do this on an overcast/cloudy day and as for the contaminants I'm afraid I don't have any workarounds. (As the curing process for both requires "time" and even the slightest bit of wind might bond things to paint or the sealant.) With no controlled environment, I know it's not the "ideal" conditions, but would it still be advised to try this?

Matt, I never get any streaky looking marks from 845, is it maybe because I’m out in California and it’s pretty dry out here? Maybe because after layering down the first coat I wait till the next day and I put the second coat down, too many variables, do however use A microfiber pad too. Awesome job Matt, I bet the car looks even better in the sun!

Is a wash with the Meguiars Gold Class an okay soap for washing to take care of the “sweating”?

Yes, it will be good for that.

Stupid question, is this a daily driver? I ask because I would like to do this to my truck but it would be hard to keep in this condition due to constant weather changes.

Did you ever tried collinite 476 instead ? It’s awesome ...

I have. I like the polymer that 845 has. I feel like it lasts longer.

Obsessed Garage it’s strange cause it’s supposed to be the opposite ! 476 is a pain to buff that’s a big difference, will try yours instead.

Will car pro reset suffice as a cleaner? Also, will p&s beadmaker affect the wax if I used it as a drying aid?
@ObsessedGarage
@ObsessedGarage 3 жыл бұрын
You don't want to use reset on a wax. Bead Maker plays well with this.

Can the 845 be applied by machine?

You can, but I don't find that saves much time. I also don't want to increase my odds of marring the surface.

Obsessed Garage Thanks for the quick reply. One of your earlier comments on this video you stated it wouldn’t stain black rubber or plastic. Great product. Just used it yesterday. Haven’t noticed any white staining on the black rubber and plastic trim, but then again I was being extra cautious not to get it on there in the first place. Love your channel.

Dallas auto detailing and paint correction have a video on this combo mentioning "sweating" and claiming that it's due to the fact that collinite just physically can't bond to powerlock. I don't know what's what anymore and who is right.
