The only pro wrestling personality I was ever close with, actual long time friends, is the late Bill Moody (Paul Bearer) He always talked about how tough Rick Rude was and how he hated traveling with him because he got off on fighting. Loved it…..but he also said Steve Blackmon was a legit scary individual, like a certified killer. He said he never bragged about it, never ran his mouth, but he was as legit as they come. Bob Holly lived and worked in the same area as Bill (where I live) and was known to knock out plenty of people on the local tough man circuit but even he himself would never try Steve Blackman. He said “that’s the one, that’s the kind of guy that could snap your neck before you finished talking shit”. I believe it.

Professional wrestling has historically always been full of legitimate tough guys. You got guys that started in professional wrestling then went on to fight for real like Brock Lesnar, Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Craig Pittman, Kazuyuki Fujita, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Lashley, Kazushi Sakuraba, Alberto Del Rio, Rodney Mack, Sean O'Haire, Palmer Cannon, Bart Gunn, Bobby Fish etc Many shooters that excelled in amateur wrestling or other grappling arts and knew how to cripple someone like Danny Hodge, Kurt Angle, Lou Thesz, Bad News Allen, Chris Taylor, Mad Dog Vachon, Tracy Smothers, Bruno Sammartino, John Tenta, Steve Williams, Steve Blackman, Stu Hart, Toru Tanaka, Santino Marella, Scott Steiner, Otis, Baron Corbin, Bron Breakker, Hunico, Bret Hart etc Then you got the guys who weren't trained shooters but could hold their own with anybody like Haku, Peter Maivia, Harley Race, Sika, Afa, Cocoa Samoa, Ed Sailor White, André The Giant, David Schultz, Perry Saturn, Brian Pillman, Butch Reed, The Godfather, Gypsy Joe, Tony Halme, Booker T etc Unless you were a trained fighter the chances of beating even half of these guys is very unlikely.

The only thing that gets me is that every time a pro wrestler, however tough, gets in the ring with a professional fighter they get humbled. Being realistic there are plenty of MMA fighters who’d take a peak Haku. Rick Steiner getting humbled by Vordel Walker. Bam Bam Bigelow and Kimo, Tony Halme. Plenty of supposed tough guys fell at the first hurdle. Guys like Brock, Lashley or even Jack Swagger are obviously legit. Anyone who tests themselves in real professional fighting has a right to known as a tough guy, the rest is just a work. Brawl For All showed how bad some supposed bad ass wrestlers look in real combat. Being 6’3 and 280lbs you have an advantage over 99.9% of people. Put a trained pro fighter the same size in front of you and it’s a different story.

I don't a lot of pro-wrestling fans understand how incredibly difficult amateur wrestling is and what it means to be a D1 All-American or to make a World or Olympic team. Everyone says Haku would beat Brock in a fight but I'm wondering how Haku would be able to stop Brock from taking him down and what he'd be able to do if Brock was on top of him. There are very few people on the Earth who would make it out alive if they got caught underneath Brock. LOL
@lorddeathspit11247 ай бұрын

@@lorddeathspit1124 There's a few other guys I'd pick to take The Steiners who were around the same time as them: Sylvester Terkay - NCAA Heavyweight Champion being Kurt Angle's rival in college, went 3-1 in MMA and 0-2 in Kickboxing losing two close decisions to World Class Kickboxers. Craig Pittman - Was in WCW around the same time as The Steiners, Pittman was a Greco Roman wrestler and Olympic alternate who fought in the 1995 Vale Tudo tournament while still under contract with WCW. Bart Gunn - Bart wasn't an NCAA wrestler but he knew how to wrestle and had knockout power, also fought twice in MMA while in his 40's and gave a good account of himself. Shinsuke Nakamura - BJJ purple belt and has an amateur wrestling background too, fought in MMA and looked decent with some really nice smooth takedowns. Alberto Del Rio - Greco Roman wrestler and fought in MMA, there's a fight on here where he breaks a fighter's arm with a throw, also is no stranger to a backstage fight/street brawl as there's plenty of stories out there. Tracy Smothers - Wasn't an NCAA wrestler but had a wrestling background and was known for his street fighting ability, many guys have mentioned him as being one of the toughest ever in the business and legit toughest man in ECW. Dr. Death Steve Williams - Four time NCAA All American where he even beat future Olympics Gold Medalists and UFC fighters. Black Bart mentioned how back in the Mid South days Rick always used to challenge Steve and he'd stretch Rick all the time. You would definitely have to have some amateur wrestling knowledge and striking ability to beat The Steiners in a shoot. Terkay, Pittman and Williams were more accomplished wrestlers than both brothers.
