Cornette has said Lex became a great worker as time went on. Lex understood what he needed to do in the ring. Watch the Windham heel turn. Lex sold getting demolished by Arn and Tully. Then, Barry took him out. You actually felt bad for Lex as he tried everything he could to get back in the ring.

Yep, I was a definite Luger mark. Especially 1989-1990, he was really good on the mic and good enough in the ring. I didn't have Dave Meltzer telling me who was a bad worker back then. I didn't care. Not really. He didn’t have the size or charisma to be a top star. Nobody is owed a major push in wrestling and Horowitz did get a brief one. Warrior was a larger than life superstar and for better or worse that’s what gets to the top. Guys that don’t get that can choke on sour grapes.

I don't think anyone held him back.

Used to love seeing Barry Horwitz back in WWF. Would always laugh seeing him patting himself on the back even though I knew he would ultimately lose. And warrior has actually said in his 2008 shoot interview that wrestling was just a job for him. And that he only carried about making money and going home to his family.

First of all, Horowitz looks great for his age. Secondly, I enjoyed his work in the ring and he did his job. However, he along with many other wrestlers are very resentdul that Warrior saw pro wrestling as a business, not as a passion. He did it to make money. His impressive physique, along with his character, the facepaint, the colorful attire, the music, his intensity, and his charisma, made him a star. He rivaled Hogan in popularity in late 89 and 90. Every return he made drew huge interest. He had the IT factor.

I'm loving this Barry Horowitz interview. I'm glad he talked about how different Warrior's personality was over time when he was in WWE. Definitely too much, too soon. Started wrestling in 1985 and beat Hogan for the WWE Title at Wrestlemania 6 in 1990. To my understanding, Vince wasn't planning on putting the title back on Hogan but, he realized Warrior wasn't the guy and took it off him in less than a year.

That's the narrative the WWE has previously put out as well as bitter wrestlers. The wrestling business was already declining in 1990, declined more in 91 despite Hogan being Champion, and continued declining until the dreadful year of 1995.

being a champion after 5 years is not something not common, in fact, there are a lot of wrestlers who have been champion far before that time. Paul Wight won the title in his first ppv match. Goldberg won his first title in less than a year after his debut. Angle and Lesnar received the title before the 5 years it took warrior. Sting also received the title 5 years into wrestling. Hogan started in mid 77, and became a champion in 84, thats less than 7 years. The rock won his world title in less than 3 years after starting in the WWE.
