Michael Phelps, what a human he is. The things he has done in swimming... he was the best at it probably the greatest that one can be in swimming. Respect for this man.

"But I wasn't focusing on winning, I was focusing on preparing myself". Me: That's the key to success.

He's showing off his sockless ankles too much for my liking.

Presenting a scowling face, constantly, to your neighbors in Baltimore, is a great way to brand.

I know he's cool and everything but isn't it lame to be a sportsman to be famous? Who apart from Jordan is just as recognizable as like singer or actor?
@jackbrady9738

Yeah but if you're genetics suck at singing or acting and they're built for swimming then you're forced down that path

Also being famous is the easiest job in the world. Literally. The easiest. You get paid to exist.

GURken I don’t understand the question/premise? Being a top athlete is magnitudes harder than being an actor. Being famous for something that takes decades of work is (relatively) well-earned.

I mean that career of a sportsman isn't that efficient compare to pop culture if your main target is to be famous. You choose a sport that is remembered once in a four years, you give your youth and health to achieve great success just to be recognizable. And even that may not work. I thought that people choose sport to prove something to themselves.
