You just saved me from retaking Stats lol I was in the middle of an online exam and forgot how to do this, finding this video definitely helped me get 3-4 more questions right. I needed an 80 and got an 80.19 thanks to those 3-4 questions!

You are a life saver! I've been trying to find my answer under goodness of fit because our teacher never taught us how to use stat crunch. I was on the same problem for like 20 min and now my homework time will be decreased dramatically!

Happy to help! Just make sure you can use SC during your exams or you will have to learn how to do it another way!

I had to stop and give a thumbs up. Your explanation that the percentages of the scores had to match up for the null hypothesis made it click instantly for me. Thank you!

Hi. Is there any way to find the critical value using stat crunch? Having trouble....
@naomiwhite2216
@naomiwhite2216 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can find the critical value using the chi-square calculator. Input the DF and the given significance value, and I think contingency tables are always right-tailed, so point the > that way. That should give you the critical value :)

Bring it back to the research question that was asked though. Does the sex of a person have anything to do with the likelihood of them thinking that global warming is man made or natural? What do the results tell you? (p-value=.46) . Failed to reject the null.To me- there is a 46% chance that sex has a dependent relationship on a person's view of global warming.

That's not how P-values work unfortunately. What a P-value tells us is the likelihood of getting a sample with our characteristics if we assume the population we are sampling from has the null hypothesis characteristic. So, all it means is that there is a 46% chance of getting a sample with our results from a population where gender and their views on global warming are independent. Because 46% is not at all rare, it makes it seem VERY likely that the population does in fact have the null characteristic of those two things being independent. If the P-value is really small, then it says it is VERY unlikely the population has the null characteristic and then we could hypothesize that the two things might in fact be dependent, but we can never equate the P-value to any sort of WEIGHT to how much one thing relates to another etc.

THank you for this. Statcrunch's examples are not helpful, and CPA Canada course material does not even tell you how to use the program. This was quite helpful.
