I just flopped top boat with pocket 9s on a 9 2 2 flop. Betting is mediocre until the river in which i make a bet and i get raised and another guy goes all in. I obviously call this with a boat and lose to pocket 2s. So sick. This was today.

@David Thompson very much seen the opposite. Cash players always tend to do relatively well, especially in early stages of tournaments and know how to navigate hands postflop. Tourney players in cash games, on the other hand, tend to do poorly, mainly them thinking their aggressive style can work in cash too. Very rarely do even WSOP winners ever perform well in cash games.

Agreed. Just fold pre. Any two cards that aren’t a pair suck. Only play aces and kings. Maybe once in a blue moon queens. But never Ace-king or anything below jacks. Just sleep at the poker table and wait for hyper premiums. Don’t play aggressively, have a 1% VPIP, and never EVER tip the dealer. They get paid more than enough. No but seriously if you think Ace King is anything less than a hyper premium, you simply haven’t seen players who play it properly. You can overplay *any* two cards despite them being very good. Ace king is no exception.

@@marcuspaxton5427 the amount of time you last in a tournament isn't indicative of skill. Phil Ivey could flop the nut flush and get it in against a beginner with a set and lose his stack by the river through no fault of his own and no skill on the part of the other player. That's the nature of tournaments. Luck is a huge factor. But you can tell Mariano has some leaks from his cash game experience and I'm sure he will work on them and improve if he wants to.

Wish you would have tightened up after you hit the 100k mark. Anyway, I think for a tournament amateur you did fairly well. I saw an interview with Mike matusow and I think he's on point with it, but he said a lot of players mistakes in the main event is that they should fold most of the spots where they know they're behind, and only have a draw to improve, because the structure moves so slow that you'll almost always find a better spot to put their money in.

Hi. I’m a regular viewer and fan. But dude. You sorta played bad. You really do play good in cash games, you apply pressure and mix it up well. BUT THIS IS NOT A CASH GAME. You kinda put yourself in this marginal, tough spots. 7,8 suited and 5,6 are just hands you should fold in tournaments. Sure, sometimes maybe if the situation is right….those hands are fine. But chipping up and surviving is the key. Opportunity will present itself later in the tournament that are much much better. You sorta punted that 10k LOL. Don’t get me wrong, this is not personal. I think you are cool and ur videos are very entertaining. But it seems like you didn’t take this one very seriously. But you said from the start it was for fun. So peace and have a good holiday

Brooo not leading with trips on that board. Idk man. A lot of Kx will check back and showdown, as you have a lot of missed flush draws anyways. Easy lead out. Also to lose 20k of 60k stack on 2 hour levels?(on the 1st level?) Pretty donk bro.(I mean if it's a standard hand that's 1 thing. But trying to make a ace fold. On a paired river. Don't love it) It's the main ! Lol the guy check back ace for a lot of reasons. One being its the main! A 7 day tournament. (No rebuy) Can't win the tournament on day 1. But can easily bust. You wanna just get thru the day lol (if you print chips that's great. But more important to not lose a bunch) Maybe I'm a fish just IMO what I think only 3:30 into your vlog lol

Tournament play is much different ain't it? The biggest mistake I saw you make was when you got up to I think it was $98,000 or something like that. You started playing like you were the tourney leader. Big mistake, what you should've done was protected your stack, play your hands smarter and try too gradually increase the size of your stack, vice trying to increase it all at once and make it to day 3. You bombed way too many mediocre hands when you should've just walked away or neve should've gotten involved with in the first place. But hey live n learn right? You played well for someone who doesn't play in tourneys and lasted longer than what most would've that's fer dang sure. Remember this experience and come back in next year with a much better understanding and maybe get a bit more experience of tourney play to help prepare for next year yes?

You should have done at least a little studying. Several times you three bet when it would have been better to either call or just fold. The middle of a tourny you should be preserving your stack and maybe stealing the blinds at the right time. The World Series Main Event is a tough tourny for your first one. It is very tough to make final table due to the huge size of the field. For my first one, I would have picked one with a smaller buy-in and a smaller field. Glad you did well in the cash games. A lot of cash players go to the WSOP because the cash games are a little softer from all of the weaker players who bust out of the Main early. All in all, you did well though I think you could have made the cash if you had been a little more patient in some spots.
