Tow companies need to be held responsible. They're beyond predatory.

I don't blame the tow company. It was the condo management company. The video says they ordered the car to be towed. If a person responsible for the property says "tow this car", the tow truck operator tows the car. And if the car's owner is unhappy, their issue is with the property manager who ordered it.

True but these companies have to have something with political figures $$$. The city councilors in my city are Democrats. Civil court judges that see Tenant cases Democrats. Every resource I’ve seen democrats. HOAs and apartment associations all have a part in it. These companies seem to be advertised in our state Apartment association site. I use to record or watch these tow/ booting companies when I lived in apartments years ago in the middle of the night booting like crazy. They would flatten tires, remove registration stickers or boot a car for barely touching the white line. Backing up ( covering your license plate) tons of crap. At one point they placed parking numbers so small you couldn’t read the numbers while pulling in noticing they were even there. They even booted or towed cars in handicap that were covered in snow that had no handicap sign to show the space was there. Signs are now required to show booting but the signs are hidden behind trash cans high up on buildings or in back parking areas and supposed to be in well lit areas by city ordinance. But who enforces that? I called the city they would say talk to parking enforcement but city parking enforcement doesn’t cover private property so had no jurisdiction. It just goes round and round. The city claims they can’t help with private property issues but yet passed a law to allow companies to boot cars in apartments. These companies are crooks. They find loopholes in laws and charge them. An attorney said in the manner of hiding the sign or using small letters is misleading and deceiving but know one is picking up the case. When they passed the ordinance it almost seemed every security company or towing wanted in

It’s great you have a station that helps. Our news stations seem to be political driven and our news say we don’t get involved. This includes investigative teams. HOAs and Apartment Associations seem to have a side with politics.

In this instance I can see where the tow company thought they were in the right, as for the "new management" company they should have sent paper copies as well as email to residents, everywhere I have ever rented from emailed, texted and sent hard copies out, hell 2 apartment complexes would tape notices to every unit door or at minimum the main entry door. As to Howards point at 3:35 of the drop fee being illegal if it's more than half the final tow charge, most companies have a flat rate for removing illegally park vehicles so that $160 drop fee may mean they charge $320 for illegal tows.

Boom!! I’m happy that y’all got her her money back. I get very irritated at predatory tow companies and also idiots that control parking permits. ps : I like the puns.

The answer yes but trying to get your money back is the problem. Often the company won’t pay or city. Lots of time trying and possibly take to court. Most people will give up.

They refunded her towing fee, only because their illegal actions were on the airwaves. They knew that a slam dunk lawsuit was imminent, and arrest warrants were around the corner. It is that, and only that, that compelled the towing company's personnel to issue her a refund. Just because a company has a contract to tow cars, does not put them above the law. It is grand theft auto to tow (steal) a car that they have no permission to tow. In Joyce's case, they had no permission, legally or otherwise. Joyce should have immediately called the police, and had the police charge the responsible parties with grand theft auto. Just because car thieves find employment at a car towing company, does not give them a license to steal cars. And the personnel involved in stealing Joyce's car cannot legitimately use the excuse that they believed that it was a righteous tow. You see, in order to have such a towing contract for that community, all of the personnel at the towing company are expected to be trained on which cars may, and which cars may not, be towed. The towing company's personnel are expected to not tow the wrong cars, because they were trained (or should have been trained) as such. Having oblivious towing personnel roaming the streets is akin to having police roam the streets without having attended academy training. As soon as the police arrest the tow truck driver, and subsequently the other personnel that authorized the illegal towing of Joyce's car, or found out that the car was illegally towed and turned a blind eye, well... they would have refunded her money before they heard the words "You have the right to an attorney."
@waltdog579119 күн бұрын
the towing company didn't issue the refund, the apartment complex did. now are there bad tow companies? yes but not all tow companies are. and yes they can claim it was a righteous tow! the new company most likely showed them the new stickers so the drivers would know which stickers were valid.

The police will just laugh at you and tell you it's a civil dispute and take it to court. By then, you will have wasted months, and they will sell your car at auction.

@@gotyoutriggered.8644 "The police will just laugh at you and tell you it's a civil dispute and take it to court. By then, you will have wasted months, and they will sell your car at auction." Perhaps you have experience being laughed at by authority figures? Consider your life choices. When someone steals your property, it is theft. It is part of Criminal Procedural Law. With an automobile, it is grand theft auto. According to your logic, if that same towing company traveled to (random city / random location), and towed a random car, it would be a civil matter. That is absurd. The only civil action that Joyce could optionally pursue is loss of income, damage to the vehicle, missing a doctor's appointment and being charge a fee, taxi costs, etc. Knowingly towing someone's car, when you have no authority to tow that person's car, is auto theft. It is a criminal case. Ergo, the police will arrest the parties involved in the auto theft. By the way, giving a thumb's up click to your own comment is pathetic.

@@NoEgg4u They don't look at it as theft. You obviously have a fake mentality that's never had to deal with anything. You can see plenty of videos on youtube that will show them doing the same on tows. Now go back to your fairy tail kid.
