It's so refreshing to see people actually paying full attention while also providing commentary and entertainment. This is the first reaction of yours that I've come across, and I just have to say, I really enjoy just how many small details and sneaky connections you guys picked up on during the movie. The amount of reactions I've seen (specifically for Midsommar) where people are just watching the movie and taking everything at face value/questioning who or why when they've already been given the answers is crazy. Definitely going to watch your other reactions from now on!

Although Connie and Simon would have been sacrificed no matter what, they disrespected the cult during the cliff ceremony.

the director said that all of them would die regardless of what they did. their plan was to kill them all from the start.
@downbeatdialga1341Ай бұрын
@@lofistreet8233was it intentional that they allowed Dani to live? Like, during the dance competition, did the other 2 remaining girls faint, and Dani won by chance? Or did they lose on purpose, so Dani would win and be crowned May Queen by default? This is all for me to ask, did that always intend for Dani to win? Was she exempt from all of them dying, because she was the most respectful of the Hårga’s culture?

Great reaction! I love how you noticed how mark got killed and referred back to the skin the fool game. The director intentionally introduced the name of that game as foreshadowing for what would unfortunately happen to their friend mark. And the court jester hat on his corpse confirmed he was the fool. The director leaves these sort of tidbits in as foreshadowing just like the bear in the painting at the beginning.

I think Simon and Connie were brought as sacrifices because Ingemar (Pelle's Brother) had a crush on Connie as he stated at the beginning (he brought her on a date), but then Connie started dating Simon and they got engaged. So they're not awful people like on Dani's side but I believe Ingemar was just spiteful. Loved your reaction!

Aw I like you two I will give you a subscribe. I think this is my favorite reaction to Midsommar so far and I have seen a bunch. I LOVE this movie. Such a beautiful film. The ending is beautiful because now she found a new family that will sympathize and support her. I felt so bad for her throughout the whole movie so seeing her smile and be happy in the end filled me with joy 🥰 Really happy I found a new react channel with cool people.

Yeah but it’s also sad too because once she hits that age 72 she’s going to have to jump Off of a cliff too if she’s chosen to be a mentor or something in the end so it’s not a good fate for her really and truly
@KJT48883 ай бұрын
@@ButterflyDeana33 Personally I did not find any sadness in the ending but I do get what you're saying. That does make it sad when you consider it. I just also really enjoyed seeing her happy in the end. I guess it's all about perspective. If the character is happy in her decision and fine with that fate then I am not one to judge.

The cult brought Dani close to the house where Christian was being raped by the cultists, so that the sounds they made could catch her attention. It has been made clear that the cultists mimic strong emotions, as we saw in the suicide ritual, so I think Dani realised the moment she heard the moaning that Christian was a tool for something specific. Then that girl who said: "It's not for us" used the reverse psychology to enhance her desire to discover what's actually happening. As such Dani goes there, and without any context to rely on, she thinks Christian is having sex with her. But that was their plan the whole time: to make Dani hate the others and love the cult. Notice how at the last meal, when she notices Christian, a girl suddenly comes and distracts her attention with the fish. Nice details :))

One of the craziest movies I’ve seen in a long time
@bluewhale200018 сағат бұрын
I love how you guys picked up on the main theme that so many people miss - Dani's need for support and to have her feelings validated, something that was only provided by the cult. You might have noticed by now that family is one of the most common themes in Ari Aster's movies... Also, Talk to Me was not directed by him (though I understand why you would think that, the style is similar) but he does have another movie called Beau Is Afraid, which is amazing and didn't get nearly enough attention. Would highly recommend checking it out, it's an even wilder and crazier ride than Midsommar and Hereditary combined.

My daughter showed me this few weeks back, never heard of it, by the end i was like WTF did i just watch 😅...been looking for things i missed on KZbin, soooo many things i discovered 😳, one that sticks out in my mind, is when Dani is getting carried the camera pans out, so you see the forest but if you pausr that shot....you actually see a face in the bushes showing one of her family member(i think her mum or sister), which was crazy. Also there's a sign that Dani was always gonna be the May queen because in the very beginning, on her parents night light table, there's a picture of Dani with a flower crowning her picture frame, symbolisng what was gonna happen. There are others, but remember them. But great reaction though, generally enjoyed it 👏

"My parents burned up in a fire." - Pele Talk to Me isn't Ari Aster; rather, it's a KZbin duo known as RakaRaka. It's their debut film, and afaik their first horror content. The Witch is Robert Eggers. He and Ari Aster had smash hits with their respective debut films (The Witch and Hereditary). There's a podcast with the two of them praising each other for their works, because they both admire each other. From wikipedia: "His films are noted for their folkloric and mythological elements, as well as his thorough efforts to ensure historical authenticity." When he "A New England Folktale," he means it. And if you ever get to his second film, The Lighthouse, you'll get to see just how phenomenal an actor Robert Pattinson can be.

1:33:18 I think it's EVERY year, not every 90 years... they have a May Queen every year and Pelle even said his parents died in a fire (they probably were the 2 volunteers that year - if it were 90 years ago, Pelle would be well over 72 years old)... Pelle & Ingemar (and everyone else who is sent out in the world to bring people) probably lie and TELL foreigners it's "once every 90 years" to entice them to come THAT year (not to have an excuse to put it off for next year) knowing no-one is going to live to leave & warn others

Part of why Jack Reynor (Christian) signed on to the film was because of this sequence 1:22:16 and the one immediately following. He found it fascinating to have the male lead in the position usually reserved for female characters in horror. And you’re right. They did basically date r*pe drug him.

1:32:06 so. Christian sucks. He seriously sucks. But I will die on the hill that he didn’t deserve this. They likely cut off his legs at the knees to get him in the bear as well. Also, all the sharp cuts that had you both grossed out so much is to help show that the Härga lie. They always lie, and they do it in full daylight. I think that’s part of what terrifies me about this movie.

Most other stuff i wanted to say most others have already commented so i figure i'll leave this tidbit above instead. :) Edit: And if you do listen to it on your own spare time, since you don't react to music. I just discovered your channel, but if you ever react to older classic movies, check out _The Wicker Man_ , another sunlit folk horror that must have influenced _Midsommar_ (I don't know that for sure, but it's hard to believe that Ari Aster isn't steeped in horror history). Florence Pugh as Dani in this film is incredible: such a lovely person, yet so lost and abandoned by pretty much everyone.
