The wholesome thing about this town is that they weren’t like this before. They were being bled dry by Yoki so they were constantly making Al pay a lot for a little. But then we see that after Yoki was removed and things became reasonably priced, the kindness that was there all along came up to the forefront. Ed helping them out also probably led to them also being gracious in the same way.

The "29 meat day" is a butcher shop joke in japan becuase Niku (meat) is spelt Ni(2) Ku(9) so a lot of butcher shops have specials on either monthly on the 29th or on February 9th

So another thing that was unfortunately cut from the manga is the fact that the town mei was in wasn't actually just a group of random people. It's actually the mining village ed and al rescued from Yoki. But more importantly to the scene specifically is that it's actually where Mei is first introduced in the series. Mei arrives in that town feinted and hungry from her travels. Instead of Scar and Yoki finding her it's actually the miners. So they actually already know her when they see her in this scene. I don't inherently hate the context change here (just random townsfolk helping a young girl out of sheer kindness), but it does kind of make Mei's decision to run back seem a bit forced. Like it's soley envy manipulating her. In the manga it's more her realizing she actually does have attachments to Amestris and she can't just abandon them. It's probably one of the less egregious changes though.

I never saw it as Mei solely being manipulated, the kindness of those strangers also makes her realize that she can't just abandon this country and go home. In some ways I think it works better, because she's not just doing it for the sake of people she knows, but every person that is going to be affected. It's less of a "selfish" desire to help and shows off her altruistic nature.

The line "How many times do I have to kill you, Greed" was just referencing the number of times Bradley 'killed' Greed in that one fight. Greed split long before Wrath was ever created, so that first fight earlier in the series was the first time they ever met.

Fun fact. Greeling was actually a nickname that fans gave to Greed/Ling while the manga was running. Hiromu Arakawa, the mangaka/creator, picked up on that and actually added it into the series.

The end credit scene for this episode is barely an end credit scene for this reason: It's actually just the last few seconds of the montage that plays during the ending song, of each character and what they're currently up to at that moment, right before the time skip that starts off the next episode.

Everyone is collaborating. Throughout the series, we've been to many different places and met a lot of people scattered throughout. This is the catalyst that has brought them all together to understand the stakes of what is going on and to plan a counter-offensive in response. Gotta be covert because even though they are on the side of the innocent, what they are planning is tantamount to treason in the eyes of the law. We did see Fu return from Xing when he came to pick up Lan Phan from Dr. Knochs. They've since gone off to find an automail mechanic to replace her arm. And I mean, Havoc was paralyzed. While in the service of the military no less. He'd have plenty of physical therapy to go through to try and get as much functionality back as possible, all on the state's dime. Why not use it? He has already mentioned a family store outside of Central that he could go and work at, but given that he is one of Mustang's men, there's no doubt a strong sense of loyalty. If he leaves the hospital, he might no longer have a reason to be in Central, which would mean leaving Mustang and Hawkeye while being fully aware of what's about to happen, so yeah, I could see him milking his stay for as long as he can get away with. When the promised day arrives, you've hit fifth gear.

This episode reminds me of the older episodes where everything is building up tension and intrigue left right and centre but what differentiates this is that we know a hell of a lot more than we did and what we're building into is basically a doomsday scenario instead of unknown shadows. The camera goes anywhere and you're invested in it, each party with their own reasons for doing what they're doing, all masterfully crafted and built up and overlapping. Not a single thread left bare or a character forgotten, even Rose who we barely see back in Episode 2 came back and Bido as well, both playing important roles for character development for either themselves or others. This was truly a one of a kind story that I can't wait for you to see the end of, also the best is still yet to come ;)

Olivier is soooo smart! And yes! She’s tough but with good reason. She’s a general in the military where is mainly ruled by men. Meanwhile, she is just like Mustang, they both have this façade about them to never let others truly know their emotions or intentions, a defense mechanism. Plus when acting to climb to the top is better to keep your mouth shut and let your actions speak for themselves instead. I do love how Olivier was able to see what had been done to Ed and Mustang with taking their friends hostages, she didn’t want to give the enemy that advantage. And here it is! The entire team!! All the pieces are now connected. Everyone who knows about the Day of Reckoning is the entire team! 🙌🙌 can’t be any more pump for what’s to come!! 😏 and now shit is about to hit the fan at full speed! The after credit scene happens in glimpses during that ending. Hope you watched it. 👍

This episode had so many things happening! The Armstrong siblings fight against each other and showing their family, Greed vs Wrath fight, The scene where people wanted to help May and her wanting to help them back, Greedling and Ed joining forces, Izumi showing up being awesome, and the pass the message scenes. So much fun! I agree about Greedling - it's as if they blendered two awesome characters into one. The 2003 series didn't have Ling and the others from Xing and Greed's fate ended differently so the Greedling development didn't happen there. Greed and Ling's role in Brotherhood is one of the things I like better here compared to the 2003 series.

The main thing of the end credits scene actually WAS the credits. If you cut it out for youtube, that's fine, if not, you should watch the credits again. (Only recommending that because you really seem to love this show.) 29 meat day is a play on words in japan. Certain days can have certain double meanings in the food industry. 2 in japanese is Ni while 9 is kyu. Meat is niku. The 29th in a month can in some cases mean that there is a sale on meat. There is a word for these kinds of play on words in japan but I can't remember it. Ah yes, Greeling my favourite character. Theyre so similar in so many ways and i love them both for it. Greed just wants his freedom to pursue his desires and fulfil his ''greed''. Ling just wanted to seek immortality, both for his country and for himself, for his own desire to be a good emperor. They both have separate agendas from the main war and dont give a fk about the good guys or bad guys. But they do be kicking bad guys' asses when said bad guys target the people they love, like the girl who lost her arm etc (or as Greed puts it, his possessions aka friends). The way they just dont care about the world or anything else except the people they do care about, and not really playing into the ''game'' with humans versus homunculi, is what makes them so damn refreshing and lovable i think. Been loving your reactions since day 1 of FMAB and im gonna be so saaaaad when this is over.

Something that may not be obvious to many people is that, realistically, Alex could flatten Olivier in a real fight. Physical differences aside (cuz that's somewhat debatable), if Alex used his alchemy alongside his physical combat prowess, even Olivier couldn't keep up. As she says, though, he doesn't have the spine to actually do that to her.

Regarding Greed and Bradley, they never were said to have fought multiple times in the past. When they first met, Greed had no idea who Bradley was because he was the newest addition and Greed had already left by then. What Bradley said was something like "how many times do I have to kill you before you die", referring to how when they were fighting he kept dealing what would normally be killing blows that Greed was able to recover from. So including this episode, they've only fought twice. That being said, he did hold his own against Bradley much better this time around in Ling's body.

The time line states that the promise day is still several months away, however most of that time is skipped, from here on its pretty much all the action. We've hit crunch time, all hands are in motion, the plans have been made clear (except father's and Hoenhimes which both come to light and conclude in the final battle).
