In our latest WTF series, we take a look at some of our favorite stars and filmmakers who have seemingly disappeared or altered their careers over the years to the point that begs the question; WTF happened? Now, before you think we're just picking on celebrities or running some gossip rag stuff, think again! We take a fun (and sometimes funny), researched and fair approach, looking at all angles that led our subject to wherever they are now (which isn't necessarily a bad place at all). If anything, it answers the question on where these fine folks went, how they got there and where you can find 'em now.
This time out we take a look at the career of the legendary Sean Connery!

Yeah I always thought that showed an amazing lack of imagination on his part. I mean I can understand not being into The Lord Of The Rings...but not understanding it!? All he had to do to play Gandalf was what he had been doing for most of the 80s and 90s...its a father figure role...its Ramirez in Highlander, William of Baskerville, Indy's Dad, Malone in The Untouchables, Ramius in The Hunt For Red October. Ok perhaps he was sick of these kinds of roles...that's fair enough! Too bad...his loss since Ian McKellan was amazing.

I really like films like The Last Crusade, The Hunt For Red October, Highlander and the Untouchables etc, plus many more. He then regretted that decision when it became the phenomenon that it did, so when "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" came along he took it, even though he still didn't get it, because he didn't want to miss another "MATRIX". Unfortunately LEAGUE turned out being utter garbage and a bomb, and I think Sir Sean just got frustrated at that point and gave up.

Indeed that is what happened. After wards he did two voice over roles and called it a day. He voiced James Bond in the video game adaptation of From Russia With Love and then did an animated movie for an independent Scottish animation studio.

Sean Connery, my favorite Bond is his own man. He is self-taught and confident with himself. An epitome of confidence. The man behind the saying "Bald is cool" What a man... My inspiration... God have broken the mold after making Sean..

"You're the man now dog." Might not have been huge among 12-year olds, but it definitely was a phenomenon, as it led to YTMND, which was pretty big in the 2000's.

He was way ahead of his time, he simply got tired of seeing all the faminist BS, i don't blame him. Most of the Film's today lacks creativity, there are only remake's.

@ Ah, okay. Waves from S. Gyle! Matthew's Chinese was a lifesaver during lockdown when all the mainstream supermarkets were running out a couple of months back. :) I walk along the canal a lot. Neil Connery still lives in Edinburgh. He goes to some of the pubs in Corstorphine - or did when they were open. I don't remember much of the old Fountainbridge TBH, because I moved here in the nineties. I think McEwans was still going. I think he'd barely recognise it with all the overpriced flats.

@ It was better early on I suppose. A mate of mine needed to get a big load of shopping in just before lockdown and the main supermarkets (like Tesco Corstorphine) were getting empty shelves. I got a tip off the Chinese places were well stocked. There is some weird & exotic stuff in there, right enough, but I got flour, and some veg etc out of it. When Tesco/Sainsbury's/Scotmid were out of pasta I just bought tonnes of their noodles. The big supermarkets are back but I don't rec Tesco Cors. just now. Was in a couple of days ago and some guy was wandering around coughing. I'm told the Asda at Chesser got pretty bad at a couple of points but I've not been in there for a year! But at least I never ran out of bog roll. 😄

What happened to Sean Connery? 😂 He’s in his mid 90’s that what happened! I’m sure if you live that long and you were a movie legend, you would want people to remember you that way, not all old needing help everywhere you go! #bestbond
