I think it’s interesting you brought up the big 3 Miami Heat because I always thought of Bosh as the glue member of that squad. He sacrificed his scoring the most, changed his game to be more of a floor spacing big before that was really even a thing, and was low maintenance despite all the disrespect he got. Haslem said it best when he recently called Bosh, not the best, but the most important member of the those teams.

Bro thank u for bringing this up. I feel role players never get enough respect. It’s always about the star but not about the people around him. They are the ones that build the team. You could stick a star on any team and the team would probably do decently but the role players is what will take that team to the finals. I personally love the heat bc they develop these role players that turn into beasts (Caleb Martin, gabe Vincent, max strus) and these are the guys who will do the dirty work and will ‘glue’ the team together. What a banger of a video again. Keep it up bro

He is one of my favourite players. i remember u spoke about him in a video before. i forgot which one, ever since then he has become one of my favourite players to watch. He just gets on with it and his mentality is great. It takes a lot of maturity to realise that you aren't a star, especially when you played in college and in high school as one of if not the best and so i really appreciate them for that. Don't wanna foget aaron gordon as well. Star turned role player and has excelled at the nuggets. really nice to see him do as well as he is doing rn.

Great video bro!! One idea I had is a video about the teams who added one player that got them over the hump to win a championship/or get back to the finals after not winning for a few years. I've see some videos like this but they usually focus on the trades for star players, like Kawhi which honestly rarely work out. I think it's more interesting to talk about the role player who added a lot to their team and helped them to get over the hump. Actually the more I think about it, it's crazy how often NBA discourse is focused on Star Trades when they so rarely work out. For every Kawhi or KD(even though that was a free agent signing), there's like Jimmy to the 76ers, Russell Westbrook to the Rockets, Chris Paul to the Rockets, Chris Paul to the Suns, Kevin Durant to the Suns, Kevin Durant to the Nets, Paul George to the Clippers, Kyrie to the Celtics, Kyrie to the Nets, James Harden to the Nets, James Harden to the 76ers, James Harden to the Clippers......etc. I kinda think it relates to how people think too. Talking about trading for a star is usually trying to skip steps. Like short term gratification. Or you could call it the fallacy of wanting something for nothing. It's thinking that you can avoid the work of drafting and developing a player into a star, and just skip to the end where they are already this finished product. I think that's why it doesn't work because that mentality is almost the polar opposite of the mentality needed for success, which is about long-term thinking, sacrifice, discipline, not skipping steps, putting in the work so that you feel like you deserve the result when it comes. It's the trades for underrated role players/role players that fit better on a different team than their current team that really impact winning and championships. One example would be PJ Tucker for the Bucks. Also, there's a few examples for the Nuggets last year. I think either KCP, Bruce Brown, or Aaron Gordon could fit this potentially. Depending on who wins the finals this year, assuming it's Boston or Dallas, there's a bunch of guys that I think could fit this. Jrue/KP for Boston. PJ Washington/Kyrie or even Gafford/Lively because of how much better the Mavs are if their Defense is even average(which it wasn't last year). Just an idea. Keep killing it with the great content! Definitely appreciate all the work you're putting in!

Good highlighting of Mcdaniels, Reid and McConnell, those are good examples of “glue guy” stuff. Also like the pointing out of the importance of role players contributing positively to the overall team context. Trying to stack a team with as many ball dominant superstars as possible has failed more than it has succeeded. Ahhh good ol’ Shane Battier, that was a nice quote from him about helping someone win, definitely rings true in most/all areas of life. Always appreciate guys who do the intangibles that don’t show up in the stat sheet but are vital to helping the team win. Well covered subject. Thanks again dude. 🫡👍Respect.

This was another slapper m8. Maybe a topic that would interest you as much as it does for me is; Is it even possible for injury ridden teams to make it deep into a playoff run? I know there was the Warriors in 2019, and The Cavaliers when LeBron returned in 2014-17, but I feel like teams nowadays NEEED all hands on deck from ALL players if they even want to look into the playoff picture. As a Clipper fan (I know) this seems to be our season almost every year, I’ve chalked it up to be the “clipper curse” but this topic isn’t just affecting the Clips as Milwaukee, Indiana, and Knicks. Maybe I’m just a delusional clippers fan idk
@whatslaps5 ай бұрын
I did a video on injuries called "why is everyone injured?" or something like that. But I definitely want to do one on players being injured for the postseason. It is strange when a season is all for not because a guy tweaks his back in game 82

All great teams have a perceptible culture, a set of core values that define their path to victory. Glue guys are like the standard-bearer for their team. It's one reason I don't quite buy the Celtics this year over Dallas. Jrue and White are fantastic role-players, but I don't get the sense they get to instill their values into how that team plays basketball.
@whatslaps5 ай бұрын
interesting. I could see that. It's hard to read the power dynamics amongst that team.
@eliavstafler17015 ай бұрын
Hmmmmm. I would actaully disagree slughtly bc White has been there for a good 2 years now, Jrue knows he isn't the no.1 star on the team and Tingus Pingus just gets on with his work. And, you have Al horford, PP and Sam Hauser etc who are amazing bench guys. I think they understand the system and have been able to incorporate themselves really well. When you watch them it looks like the have been playing for years together. as well as this, you have Mazzula who is only a year into his new job and is also improving. All of this makes for a great team. Some may call it a super team but I dont like that. JB and JT have been together for ages, Derrick white wasn't even considered in any debates until this year where he has gone crazy and jrue was an easy steal for them bc the bucks bought dame. I am a celtics fan so I will obvs root for them more but still I think the depth that the celtics have compared to the mavs is durastic. But ur right in a way bc I am still shitting myself to see them in the finals
