It's also for the incredibly rare scenario that the target is positioned to grab the ledge before they get hit by the rope of the Alolan Whip. Highly unlikely, but still a possibility that needs to be accounted for so you don't get someone clipping into the stage. You can see it happen in the Awestin vs Magister game that became the thumbnail for the last Unexpected Moments video, during the segment where Awestin gets "plot armor". It's a lot harder to notice since that was a high pace grand finals game, but Incineroar shrugs there, too.

Alright to explain 4:22 Wii Fit Trainer used a forward smash which hits Mewtwo while Mewtwo is using his jab. Since Mewtwo was at a high percent, he is in brief hitstun due to the power of Wii fit’s smash attack, however his jab also hit the Trainer which made him flinch, cancelling all the end lag he would have had. The player must have really been spamming that A button as the very second he flinched he jabbed Mewtwo back just once while Mewtwo was still in his hitstun which completely cancelled his launch distance and replaced it with the jab flinch.

TO EXPLAIN THE WEIRDNESS AT 9:38: Charizard Flare Blitz actually hits twice, once for a little damage and the second one is the big damage dealer. This means countering flare blitz does work, but depending on the counter that you are using you will either counter the little hit for a little damage or take the big hit, as you can see here.

I've had that Roy Up-B glitch happen to me. It's something to do with the set knockback to force it to connect with the other hits, but if you manage to tech it, it launches you the other way. It seems to affect heavyweights more often.

I think it happened because Bowser's sourspot down air sends opponents horizontally if I am correct? If so, then because Bowser's down air was interrupted in the middle of it, Ness endured an odd knockback state that made him not die. 0:28 The windbox from Luigi Cyclone pushed R.O.B towards the side of the stage. 0:48 Pac-Man was hit by both the water and the hydrant, while the water from the hydrant pushed Link into perfect up smash position. 1:24 All of Bowser's tilts and smash attacks has super armor on startup. His up smash armored through the first part of Cloud's limit up B (due to the first hit having very low knockback), and the second hit of the up B clanked with the rest of the up smash. 1:49 3:57 Kalos League ledges can do some silly shenanigans. Good thing those said shenanigans are hard to get. 2:23 Because that platform is soft, the wild swing from YLink's tether made YLink go through the platform and enter his landing animation. 2:42 Nothing unusual there. Ike simply saved his jump the whole time through that. Not sure if the water helped him, but seems normal. 2:56 Very specific hits from Roy's up B has high base knockback, which can result in the opponent flying away if interacted with a wall. It is a less severe and harder to get version than pre-patch Peach/Daisy's up B jank. It is very difficult and non-practical to get, but hilarious jank nevertheless. Roy's up B: jank since 2001. 3:06 Shulk countered Pac-Man's up B, but then he got hit immediately by the hydrant. Unlike most counters, Shulk is not completely invulnerable during the counter, so he can get hit by a different active hitbox (though situations like this hardly ever happens outside of doubles). 3:26 Charizard's grab and Ness' up tilt traded with eachother. You can see the magic animation above Ness during the interaction. 4:21 This is a very interesting interaction. Because Wii Fit's forward smash animation makes him reel backwards, he avoided Mewtwo's jab 1. However, by the time Wii Fit's forward smash came out, Mewtwo's rapid jab was initiated. So when Mewtwo was hit by the forward smash, Wii Fit got by the jab which canceled the rest of forward smash's animation. From there, Wii Fit buffered a jab which canceled Mewtwo's knockback. 4:40 Charizard's back air has insane range that can hit opponents through the stage. 5:02 Ryu/Ken's fist goes through the stage when doing the up B. Because ledge attacks in Ultimate has more invincibility, MK's ledge attack I-framed through the up B and hit Ken's fist. 5:28 Mega Man's forward air has a nice hitbox. Got also supported from the fact that Lucas' head was poking out during the roll animation. 5:53 Dedede's n-air deflected the pocket-powered Gordo back at Isabelle for an early KO. 6:09 Another instance of a very generous hitbox. 6:32 Bowser's downward angled f-tilt simply hit G&W. Nothing more to that. 7:03 Seems like Marthcina's up B reverse hitbox from SSB4 is back. What is up with Fire Emblem characters and having jank up Bs? 7:26 8:01 Silly reverse hitbox shenanigans from the hammer. For Fox, the I-frames from his roll ended, so he was hit in the middle of it. For Mario, his up air extended his hurtbox to the 9. 8:23 Both of their back airs traded. 8:39 The Mega Man simply died to sourspot f-air from Snake. It is a powerful hitbox. I was surprised that it didn't spike either. 8:55 It is obviously the power of 69.... Anyways, Dr. Mario's cape screwed up the momentum of Incineroar's side B. I find it funny that the devs added an animation just in case something like this happens. 9:22 Due to how freakishly long Thoron is in this game, the lag of merely pocking it made Villager SD. Villy cannot act until it is over. 9:38 Flare Blitz has a second hitbox after the contact hitbox. Similar to example of Shulk's Vision earlier, Peach/Daisy's counter during the actual counterattack has little I-frames. However, this flaw of the counter is more glaring with Peach/Daisy's counter.

G&W hammer hits from behind because he swings the hammer, it's just in 2 framea of animation. Anyways, if you notice his animation he starts his swing from the back of his head, since the zoom in happens a frame after the hit to show the Hurt Animation the hammer has already reached the front of G&W due to it only taking 1 frame. Being hit out if certain animations can occur a lot in casual play, such as the opponent getting hit from other players during incenarour's side B or shulks counter as stated by you. 2:44 Ike air dodged extremely low, which should cause death, but the water pushed him up letting him wait out the lag frames from air dodging so he could use his jump.

Interesting fact it's one of the very few attacks in the game that has invincibility while attacking. You can phase through people whole dodging, but not while standing, so after he finished his roll and was in megaman he was pushed back a bit. On top of that Lucas leans forward in the end of his dodge animation, but he leans backwards in his hit stun. The moment of impact his head was actually in the front of megaman. =b the still mode shows the moment right after impact to catch the hit face of the character.
