Still have my PS5, but just built a PC with a 4080 Super. At this point, where the price stands, people may as well build a PC for the price of the PS5 Pro. Next gen will be even more expensive. For $700+, people should just spend a bit extra and build a good PC with performance that exceeds these upcoming consoles. As years press on, there's less justification to own a console, especially when PC enjoys both sides of console exclusivity.

Easy answer... You shouldn't upgrade to the Pro at this price. No one should buy this thing. If you add in the cost of the vertical stand and the disk drive (both of which came with the launch PS5) you're looking at a 65% price increase over the now 4yr old launch console. I got a lot of flack for saying that when they raised the price of the PS5 in Japan that the pro wouldn't be $500 at release. I also got a lot of flack when I said that I thought the PS5 pro would be an all digital system. And guess what, it ended up being $700 (more depending on where you live based on conversion rates) and also ended up being all digital (with the option to purchase a detachable disc drive which will cost an additional $100).

I’m sorry it’s not an upgrade. All they did was tweak 6-7 year old technology to actually be able to produce 60fps with higher resolution like the ps5 was originally supposed to do. So glad I built my PC this year, Radeon 7900 XTX GPU with a Ryzen 7 7800 X3D processor. People, listen to me and make the jump to PC. These console companies are pushing you more towards it anyway. Sony barely has any software titles for you and you're playing games that are multiplatform anyway.

People need to take a hint from now that the Series X2 is most likely to be £700 and the handheld could be £400 to £500 in 2026. I already have £600 saved so far. I have a PS5 but i won't purchase the Pro because we are half through the gen and if the rumours are true that the new next gen Xbox releasing 2026, i rather wait until Xbox releases it.

A single $ over 600 is wasted on this and that is with a disc drive. Ps6 and next gen is round the corner in 3-4 years. No point in spending so much. I can spend 70-80$ to get a gen 4 ssd for the og ps5.

If Microspft stopped making Xbox consoles...they would still have a thrivng 97% share of the PC market and the biggest mobile games market and a soon to be dominant share of the streaming gamws market. If Sony stops making Playstations...then they will just be a 3rd party on Micrsofts PC platform.

I was looking at picking up a PS5 Pro to compliment my Xbox and Nintendo Switch. However Sony just did me a favor. At $800 plus for the complete system, I’m just gonna throw that money into some investments. However if they sold it at $600 with disc drive I would have been sold.

Not sure if anyone else is talking about it but if the PS5 Pro is $699. Then the next Xbox/PS6 will be right there as well. If not maybe another $100-$200 more. This needs to be the Gen that bridges the gap between Console and PC!

It’s 2TB, it’s literally on their website and there most likely won’t be any other version than digital hence they are selling disk driver separately already and they fit onto the pro.
