WTF was wrong with Marvel’s What If?

What if should've been an anthology series, not a series that connect with each other. At first I liked Captain Carter but they just wasted episodes on her. What ifs are supposed to be one and done, if they got a 2 parter that's fine but they wasted episodes on a connected story that wasn't interesting nor good. Why didn't they just make a Captain Carter series or a guardians of the multiverse series? Howard the Duck is my favorite character and even I believe he shouldn't have gotten an episode. That episode was just an excuse to put his daughter in the final episode.

I would have actually been really excited to see an animated show follow captain carter’s universe and her story in it. I can accept the follow up to her story, cause it’s fun. But I can’t be bothered to watch season 3 as it feels like they just waste the chance to do something fun.

One of the most upsetting things to me was how they missed the mark on doing a super dope what if episode on the origins of kang the conquer... like that comic book story was so well done. A great villian that Disney screwed up hard

My problem wih what if show is that they just made the power scaling so nonsensical that it made me question why are the heroes in the main mcu even struggling, like you're telling me agatha can defeat the celestial, an egg can just kill of half the villains and captain carter becomes the most powerful being when captain America can't even beat thanos without the help of the hammer, it just being nonsense

I wouldn't say current mcu has a lack of direction. More like a poor sense of direction. Nothing feels like the writers are team players when it comes things such as the writers of Mom did not watch wanda vision or movies not acknowledging anything. To stories being build up to get suddenly cancelled

Even the first season had some extremely weak moments but I thought the way they tied it together was at least somewhat satisfying. The other two have completely failed, though.

I'm up for the idea of liking Captain Carter but the reality is there isn't really anything for me to actually like. It's basically if marvel just drew a boring stick figure drawing and said "This is now the new big thing" and starts putting it in all there media but never gives them any long term goals, reasons for who they are, flaws, strengths besides being heroic or fears. Iv'e kinda noticed this pattern with a lot of MCU characters where it just feels like they care more of making a character a popular IP instead of making them feel like an interesting character to follow and all they do is be heroic with no depth or explanation why

Exactly. In the end, it’s a business and I understand the ultimate goal is to creat IP BUT, that can’t come before story. Captain Carter had a lot of potential that they wasted by trying to cut corners. I hope they learn the right lessons from the last few years of misses because I do miss being excited for all of their releases.

I now hate the multiverse, only DC multi-verse is worth watching, Marvel is corny and horrible with the concept was literally ruined. They showed me again for the 60th times with that corny showing at the end. That weapon X Thanos has to be the most corniest and laziest writing ever

I have never watched "What if?". Now I am happy with my decision. LOL I am more excited about the new Krypto (see what I did there) movie coming out than any of the last few Marvel movies. As a Marvel fan, I am shocked at myself on how I felt seeing that trailer. Lesss goooo!!!!!!!!!!

I'd say just watch the season 1. It's good really. No political message forced in, or whatever. Season 1 had It's charm with the uniqueness of the idea. But yeah from season 2 it became a regular show. Not a what if show.

I never really liked Captain Carter, like you said yourself, she barely makes sense, since Peggy Carter is british. Did they EVER show Captain Carter doing superheroing in America? I dont recall. Even if she became "Captain Carter" -which is already kind of an odd superhero name... Shes still an AMERICAN superhero. Since she becomes "Captain America". What, did the American government just allow their new super soldier to leave America and do what she wants? What? Idk, the idea behind her is sound, "What if Peggy became the super soldier instead?" But the execution is strange. And then they just made What If the Captain Carter show ugh

I feel like season 3 was slightly better than season 2 but not saying it was good but I have to agree with you that they really are milking Carter way too much. There are sooo many characters, soo many stories. I really liked that they brought Storm but having her share screentime with others felt like a scam.

It also should have never been an ongoing storyline what if is all separate possibilities maybe the more popular ones like Zombies could get continued storylines but for the most part anthology was the way to go. They should have saved all the original characters for a separate show taking up unnecessary space.

Peggy Carter is the Suicide Squad equivalent of the MCU. An interesting concept at best with little actual success and a lack of mass appeal that continues to spearhead these studios ideas and productions.

Even if it was just tied to the MCU there was still so much potential WE NEVER GOT THE BLATANTLY OBVIOUS SCENARIOS WE ALL WANTED TO SEE. WHERE THE HELL WAS... What if the other half were dusted What if Wanda met Pietro's fate in the battle of Sokovia or what it Peitro survived What If Thor and Hulk were a part of the civil war What if the Avengers were Thanos Black Order What if Steve Rogers never unfroze What if Hydra ruled the world What if the Avengers lost the battle of NYC What if the world was taken over by mystic forces (essentially getting a midnight suns/avengers team) What if Steve Rogers Absorbed the Cosmic Cube What if Hawkeye never left the crime of circus What if Loki was the true heir of Asgard What if the Avengers formed in 1872, 1602, 2099 etc.

Season 3 coulda been the best season if they did What Ifs from the MCU we all wanted. Do I think the ideas shared at the end of Season 3 woulda fit into Marvel’s What If? No, because they’re too good for the MCU’s What If, but rather would fit into their own show.

The shows direction was closer to The Exiles stories more so than What if. Secret Wars is there opportunity to claw it back and they need to utilise cameos the same way the did in DP&W thats how you do Fan Service. If we don't see 2000s Marvel characters in that film its complete incompetence. Get Nicholas Cage, Jessica Alba, Julian McMahon, Ioan Gruffudd, Wesley Snipes 😏, Agents of Shield characters/actors let it be a celebration/culmination of marvel it's literally their only chance to use the multiverse at full force.
