cats are wonderful........I adore them. As a child....I was allergic! all one needs to do is get one....you will get over allergies in a week or two! Pets are so beneficial......we now have 3 dogs and one cat....I am needing one more cat!

Allergies don't always go away--they ca get worse ad worse. I am terribly allergic to cats and have been fror almost 64 years. But I'm not too allergic to most dogs any more and not at all to some, just the pollen and dirt they get into. So Shih Tzus and Pomeranians can crawl all over me! The last breeder had 12 Shih Tzus and I sat on the floor with them all remembering my childhood of sneezing and wheezing...it was cathartic. I need another dog or 2 now as my last baby died just before the election. He was just short of 15....will cry now...

The fda regulates dog food not only because dogs eat it but in times of economic hardship they have found dog food sales go up. They make sure that it's safe to eat in case humans eat it to survive.

I think this proves Donald's limited use of vocabulary and stunted mental capacity. He seems to have a profound lack of empathy for other life forms. There is only room in his head for his own self aggrandizement and the need to pursue any path towards that, without regard for morals or ethics. A very narrow, well worn path with zero tolerance for new growth or concepts. I am a thoroughly committed cat person, but I get along wonderfully with dogs. Better than that --- I was alive when the controversy broke. Yes, it was real - Old people living of SSI alone. Inflation eating away at their discretionary spending. A really weak social safety net. No Meals on Wheels programs, few food kitchens. In the late 1960's into the early 1970's inflation was above 5% per year and SSI couldn't keep.... And then is came out that not only were seniors driven to eat dog food (dry food, mostly) BUT there was no nutritional requirements on dog food. There was intense pressure to require similar nutritional and sanitary requirements for pet food... In 1972, the Congress approved legislation that established automatic cost-of-living adjustments. That system operates today.

Well, I always wondered why seniors would buy dog or cat food, when you can buy cans of cheap tuna, canned meats (yes, it's gross, but better than dog food), beans, and peanut butter and live off of that cheaper than most canned dog food. But you were saying that it was the dry food, which is less expensive. Didn't they qualify for food stamps? If so, were they just not enough to last? I think that people used to get less in food stamps than they do now. That is very sad. I remember seeing news reports about it at the time. I watched the film Grey Gardens about 4 or 5 times until I finally understood that the "pate" that they were eating so much of was actually tins of cat food!!
