@@mtrps_ No, Lando's engineer only confirmed that the race was finished halfway through the circuit -- listened to it live. The "drivers' over the line radio" video is heavily edited. Lando was going full pelt after crossing the line, Latifi was as well, I'd bet he was only informed later too.
@zulubunsen9067

Okay, just checked to be absolutely sure. Latifi was at 130R (after he got the checker), when his engineer told him that the race was over -- so almost a full lap later. The "two points" comment was only made when Latifi stopped the car in the pits, *not* right after crossing the line. As I said, the "over the line radio" is absolutely unreliable in this regard.

Looking at how close the Ferrari’s were to Red Bull in qualifying and then to see Max literally run away from Charles by a second a lap I think Max really did prove he is on a different level in the rain. *championship post race press conference - because Sergio & Charles were forced to leave. Sorry for being a smartass. Nice from him but knowing the current FIA panel, clark of the course, Pirelli employment & the stewards (however is required to green light that) this will come to nothing. 1. This would be an advantage for Max & Red Bull already had an advantage in 2021 against Merc. 2. It's not environment friendly to waste this much water (flying across the global and driving in questionable countries improves the 'climate' 🤡) 3. Hey, Pirelli build us better tyres. - How? Well, it worked in 2022 - No! That's the reason why Max mentioned it. Oh, okay - well I guess...I don't know has anybody an idea how we can improve the tyres?! (4. Fire Pirelli because some tyre compound is always below the standard) Sorry, got a bit lost there.

I honestly think the Pierre (or the Drivers as a group) should sue the F1/FIA for reckless endangerment. Their own report said it is too dangerous it would be very difficult for them to defend themselves in court. It seems the only thing F1/FIA will listen to is money, so sue them to force them to listen.

16:50 The bigger confusion is: Earlier this year at Monaco the race was also stopped by the 3 hour time limit for the event. But that wasn't a hard stop but this +1 lap after Perez crossed the line. At that moment there was a lot of confusion for commentators who didn't know if we would get this 1 extra lap or not, but we apparently did. I think what went wrong this weekend was that the time went on 0:00 and they were thinking. Ow the clock stopped and the leader just passed the finishline, then this has to be the last lap, without realising that the leader actually passed the finishline with still some time on the clock

@@gmarz9611 Nope. People including me watched it back on F1tv by watching live stream, the live map tracker, the onboard of max compared with onboards of leclerc/perez and the timer in the live feed, and came to the conclusion that max crossed the finishline with around 5seconds left on the clock

Thank you for highlighting how awful the FIA and Sky's treatment of the recovery vehicle incident was. I genuinely felt sickened listening to the pundits blaming Gasly when there is no universe where these tractors should be on track with the cars, let alone in the awful conditions they were racing in. They all owe Gasly an apology at the very least, and they need to ensure this NEVER happens again.

Merc, Ferrari or an outsider like McLaren, Alpine or Aston Martin (they at least have the budget to do much better than they do now). We need close fights, but Ferrari keeps screwing that up :( I'm a Dutch person by the way and therefore enjoy the dominant performance of Max, but I also love seeing him fight for it. Last season was epic, because it should have ended with two world champions. There was nothing between the two title contenders. This season there was just no match for him. Fun to see for once, but not something I want to see next season again.

Absolutely spot on, on all points. Points ruling fiasco, safety, and race duration. Something I've never considered on my previous times being at a track, was that the conditions could shorten the race. The FIA should reconsider the race start times and durations, with attention to factors shortening the race for attending fans. While trying not to complete disrupt the global broadcast. I wake every qually and race times here in the U.S., its not fun but I love our sport. Keep up the fantastic work on the podcast!

@@Hoolygan4ever I dislike the hypocrite behavior. Mercedes and Ferrari pushing for the harshest punishment. Yet, both breached regs and got away free. FIA needs to punish red bull. Not the drivers. If the drivers are punished. I feel like the FIA would also need to punish Ferrari and Mercedes. Mercedes won the 2019 constructor and driver's championship even tho they breached the summer break regs. At least to my understanding. Mercedes said they did. Going to take their word. Some people told me that summer break regs weren't there in 2019. FIA can't just rewrite one wrong. They need to rewrite all of them. the 3 hour window is the start of a good idea but implemented horribly. my thought is that there is 3 hours from the start of the race to restart the race to be run the full length (or 2 hours). That means that at any circuit that is not set up to be a night race circuit, they must schedule the start of the race to be at least 5 hours prior to no useable light. This would avoid the racing being stopped at its best, like we saw this weekend, it would also eliminate the points confusion we saw as any race that restarts, will be restarting for full points.

Concerning the Gasly "incident" one of the problems is the delta times. It just means you can't arrive sooner at a certain point than time X. So, in theory, you can go really slow at some point and then go really fast at another point and still arrive "on time". The delta time should be accompanied by a minimum and a maximum speed.

They need to extend the hard stop and start races an hour earlier... too often we're getting close to or hitting the hard stop and it seems like it should really be a blue moon event. Especially in this new era where we don't like racing in the rain

Just saying for us Americans at least here in indiana the start was scheduled for 1 am but then there was a delayed start then the delay for the red flag. I literally fell asleep just as the cars were leaving the pits to finally restart the race at god knows what time and ended up missing the actual race and max winning the world championship it sucked

Peter Windsor explains it very well in his videos: Red Bull are the only team doing proper long runs every race weekend, Ferrari are more focused on qualifying in fp sessions.

Something that caught my attention from the tractor incident: it clearly shouldn't have been released to go to the stopped car, but on top of that I was surprised to notice that there wasn't a flashing yellow emergency light on top of the vehicle to draw attention to itself, especially in low visibility conditions like that. You see that all the time on roadside construction sites.

The recovery vehicle made me think of a few races ago when the tractor was driving on the damn course WITH cars going by!!!! I’m a new f1 fan but was shocked to see they allowed that and add in the weather conditions of this race…. I hope they take this seriously

I think Brazil 2016 was as wet, maybe even wetter than Sazuka 2022, but maybe the ground effect affected the spray. I remember the spray being bad if they were directly behind a car, but if they moved away it was almost completely clear.
@gabrielgomes9974
@gabrielgomes9974 Жыл бұрын
Extreme wet tyres should be mandatory until race control says otherwise. We have something similar with DRS not being enabled until the race director decides is safe to do so. This would take the option to increase the risk for extra performance from drivers and teams and it would allow races to go on when now there's a concern everyone will just switch to inters and then it wouldn't be safe to race anymore
@joyl7842

The last time I remember F1 raced in even wetter conditions is 2016 Brazil, but maybe that's because I remember it so vividly due to Verstappen's amazing performance that day.

I feel like you just have to look at the V8 supercars. Bathurst on the same day (ignore the fact that Masi was actually there) they have the raido message from race control with camera feed in their office as well. The transparency helps with the experience and clarity of the rules. For a race that had over 6 safety cars there was little to no confusion

Given the time difference, the insane start, drivers almost dying, the lengthy rain delay, and then the restarts, by the end of this race, I was genuinely so exhausted, I just didn't care. I felt like the end of the race, put my out of my misery and I went straight to sleep. I'm no Max or RB fan, but given what all went down last year, I felt for the guy not having his race win shown, and sort of kind of finding out he had won, and then the whole awkward shuffle about through confusion. He fought hard this year and deserved every bit of his win, but this race was a s--t show.

I didnt finish the ep so idk if they mention it. As we are currently in Max's era, it'll be fun to see how long it'll last and who will be the next face of F1. As Max ages who will be the young gun fighting for his spot like Schumi to Senna, Alonso to Schumi, Vettel to Alonso, Max to Lewis
