Guys cmon, did you watch the race. I’m not saying Vettel’s performance was good, but if you were watching he was blocking/defending for Leclerc for the majority of the race. He held off both Ocon and Ricciardo for quite a few laps which gave Charles a lot of breathing room. As for his crash in qualifying he took the curb just like everyone else yet his car was destabilized and he crashed.
@rjharikumar6555

He didn't hold off Ricciardo for long though. Ricciardo was catching Ocon when Ocon was stuck behind Vettel. And once Ocon let him through, he went past Vettel pretty quickly.

I absolutely disagree with your opinion about Vettel. Sure he didn't make it like Charles. BUT: Ferrari not caring about him anymore, the car was designed for Charles, every wish for car design comes from Charles. Than the mistrust against him since 2018/2019, engineers look like idiots when he asks things on the radio. NOBODY, literally NOBODY (even your loved Verstappen) would not perform well if the team didn't give his driver the support he needs. Hamilton hasn't won 6(7) titles, if Toto Wolff (and the team) doesn't make him comfortable. Red Bull literally licking Verstappen's ass (justifiably). SO: don't be so harsh on him. I bet he will strike back, when he is in an environment where everybody works with him on the same level. Then I'm curious what you will say about him.

I don’t mind Red Bull giving Alex time to gain his confidence, it’s a pressure cooker and he deserves to be given time seeing how long Max was given, but I don’t agree with how much Pierre was criticised during his stint with RB, they backstabbed him again and again and never gave him a chance to prove himself, but Alex gets so much cushion from them. They brought in Simon for him, they defend him fiercely and back him even for his poor performances (which they should, they are his team) but Pierre was never afforded that margin from them. It’s just so unfair from both Christian and Helmut how they treated Pierre and how they treat Alex. I’m just so mad how badly Pierre was received by them. Christian was giving suspenseful monologues to Netflix behind Pierre’s back and Helmut was being Helmut in the media. It’s just not fair towards Pierre.

The run off chicane at T2 is stupid. If a driver approaches it with a shallower angle, there's a very slight chance he makes it through going at those speeds. Sainz proved it. Ayrton Senna had his moments of paranoia, believing the FIA were against him. Senna also believed and accused Schumacher of cheating in 1994, but he didn't do so baselessly, he had fantastic intuition about these cars and he observed that Benetton very closely...he certainly wasn't the only one who believed it. Later investigations, after Senna was dead, would show some very dodgy things going on at Benetton. So I think Senna can be forgiven for that particular one.

For Sochi, he was told to build it in the Olympic Park, and that it had to go around the plaza and certain buildings. He could only end up filling in the gaps. Yas Marina: Built on reclaimed flat land, that had to go under a hotel and around the Marina. Hockenheim: Tilke wanted to extend the run down to the old Clark chicane, but the track Management had already sold the land back to the German gov., so, again, he was only joining the dots.

That quite clearly only leaves that triangular area that everyone else kept using for practice starts, since after that section, there's no space on the right hand side of the fast lane. They then go on to state that drivers are not allowed to stop in the fast lane of the pit exit "at any time the pit exit is open without justifiable reason" and then top it off by specifically mentioning that practice starts are NOT a justifiable reason. Well...to be fair, some drivers have earned themselves a reputation for silly crashes...Grosjean for example. This seemed rather out of character for Carlos 🤷‍♀️ Although if he keeps doing it he'll soon build that kind of rep too

Lewis knew exactly where he should have performed his practice start (there is too much rubber there) so he decided he would do his practice start where ever he liked. Mecedes just went along with him.

Sitting at the end of the pit exit when rivals are approaching at high speed on to the track is endangering others, that's why the practice start area is almost always just after the lights at the end of the pit lane. Also during a race you cannot separate team and driver, whereas with penalty points for driving standards can be applied only to the driver.

Thomas Taylor The penalty points were a reach. The on track penalty is fine, but the penalty points were stupid.

Hamilton received 2 penalties not for two starts. He received it because: 1) He trained start in wrong place 2) He stoped after starting formation lap So it's 2 penalties for 1 thing. And he really received advantage from trying to start from another place, because grip there closer to grip on starting grid than in proper place for training.

The time penalty impacts the team as well, so it stands no matter who's fault it is. License points should only be reserved for when the driver endangers other through their own will.

Tilke went on to add that the Sochi Autrodrom has been one of his biggest challenges, while Hanoi has also provided obstacles to overcome. “Sochi was probably the most difficult project,” he added. “We had to insert it in park of the Winter Games 2014, it was not easy." - - - - - THEN WHY ARE YOU BUIL....... oh whatever.

Off camber corners are a real challenge. It goes against road design principals unbalancing the car and stopping down force working efficiently. The same goes for the braking zone off the back straight. Turning and braking then changing direction the other way is not what we think of as exciting but its a real challenge that needs to be commended look at Landos lock up, yes old tyres, but the way the cars move and change their centre of gravity is a testament to drivers skills. There's a top gear video of Clarkson talking about it into turn 1 of Imola. T2 is similar to Australia and there's always action there. And we like that, just fix run off. Improvements need to be made after the f2 crash but its actually a good tilke track. Yes its not the best I'll agree to that and it was a dull race but that's not entirely track related.

Its a team sport, a teams mistake, and a teams punishment, as his car received a penalty, not him personally.

In traffic Albon and Leclerc improved by 5 positions in the race. On a track that passing is hard to do.

One thing I don’t hear much discussion about when talking about track layouts is elevation change. Yes corners can definitely be improved but elevation change makes circuits more interesting imo, even Monaco has probably more elevation change than these flat car parks like Sochi and Paul Ricard.

ehh too put it into perspective Kimi was all race long faster than gio stayed out way longer than he should have to gamble on a Safty car or VAR and then getting a 6 Second Pitstop and still coughing up to gio, mag, and Vet 12 Seconds and 15 Laps to go D is kinda unfair but not that it matter

Well no largely due to tire management. Pirreli did say prior to the weekend they brought their sober compound tires . And also Sochi is one of a few tracks where a one stop is possible.

I don’t get how everyone can say stroll is the better driver this year compared to Perez. Checo got shafted by the safety car back to back in spa and monza (was p4 before the big monza shuffle). Stroll got a free pit stop from the red flag to be gifted a podium. Checo also missed two races from covid, and yet is only 1 point behind stroll in the championship. Stroll also has had back to back races with upgrades and Perez hasn’t.

I think the most fair penalty would have been a 3 place grid penalty- if you get extra start preparation you start further behind. A better start from pole can gain you at maximum 3 places at the top of the field in Sochi, and Hamilton should have been penalised for that. Nothing more nothing less
