They're not checking people's identity at the doors of funerals. People just show up. It also doesn't sound like the husband went outside just to deal with the ex. It sounds like they were all already outside in the parking lot, hence the fact that the murder occurred in front of this woman's child and her husband's mother. It may have been before or after the funeral. It wasn't just the husband and the ex outside by themselves.

The restraining order is actually good as proof that you tried to legally protect yourself.. I filled them out at the courthouse, and filed them the same day. You don't necessarily need an attorney to file, and can go through legal aid if you'd feel better going that route. I'll tell you what the police told me because it's true: *"Restraining orders aren't worth the paper they're written on."* So, I Prayed and *equalized! 🙏🏾

Also, keep in mind that this couple could've still been victims even if the woman had never gotten into a relationship with the man. Many women can tell you that they've been victims of psychopathic stalker men who were only acquaintances; just being acquaintances was enough to trigger the men. I have a niece who's been dealing with one such individual for almost 10 years. He was a boy (now a man) who was a college classmate of hers - nothing more, nothing less. He's been making non-violent, but unwanted and unrequited romantic overtures for almost 10 years, and has always found some way to track her down, even if she's able to lose him for a few years. There's nothing she could've done to prevent this because she was just his classmate. So, sometimes there are red flags and ways to avoid dangerous people, but oftentimes there aren't, and you don't know a person until you actually KNOW them, and then it's too late.
