Their health and time are undervalued, their pay is insufficient, and their voices, opinions, and actions are often disregarded by society. This reality is one reason charter schools are increasingly replacing traditional public-school districts. If you believe you can provide guidance and influence within public education, it’s important to note that charter schools prioritize business over students. The long-term impact of these decisions, societal norms, and the rise of charter schools on our country will be revealed in the coming decade. In essence, the teaching profession often feels unrewarding, as educators are underpaid and undervalued, expected to act as moral guardians held to higher standards than the majority of the parents whose children they are responsible for.
