is 1:17:05 legal defense? i've wondered about that. the male player is solely boxing out and doesn't really intend to make a play on the disc. is this just the consequence of a 2-on-1? or is this illegal?

Yes it is legal because he is holding a straight line, slowing down heavily but slowly moving towards the disc. If he had been moving from side to side, then it would be a blocking foul. On a 1-on-1 though, this is allowed, because the side-to-side movement is considered legitimate boxing out as part of a play on the disc.

@@steffen1405 I don't think "straight line" has anything to do with it? You can't move _solely_ to block another player (straight line or not), which sure looks to me like what's happening there (I play in Canada, so not as familiar with WFDF rules but I don't believe there are changes there?)

@@m33jah i think if the guys arm are out to the sideways and never really attempts to reach forward to "try" to catch the disc. one would have grounds for calling interference.. but he did raise his arm chest high at the end to "try" to catch the disc..

slowing down isnt the issue...its doing so while putting his butt in to the offender....but was out of position and gave up on the play anyway.

Yeah you could make a case for calling a blocking foul. Pretty gray area. MT D made no real attempt on the disc. Technically he did. His hand went up, so it's a play on the disc, and yet I think we all know he was just making room for his teammate to really make the play. Had Gaggi attempted to go around and the guy just moved to block him, what someone called moving side to side, I would think would add to the blocking foul case, but I don't think it's needed. Just slowing down more than necessary in front of a player to let your teammate make a play on the disc feels like blocking not boxing out.
