Even though you found that there was another access from outside to that room, you have to be pleased that you are probably one of the first to have entered the space in many decades. Quick tip a Stalagmite ( might reach the ceiling) a Stalactite ( holds tight to the ceiling) that’s how i learned to remember the difference, Great Exploring Video as Usual! Thanks 😊

SUCCESS!!! Perseverance finally paid off. Was funny when you finally figured out what it was when you got up there and saw the door leading into the fire control bunker. At least the door couldn't be open otherwise that would've been really embarrassing realizing you could've just walked in from up there. It was something great to see the inside of the command room for the fire control bunker. Was something that the rifle racks, though on the floor, were still there! Shame there was the trash scattered around the command room. Thank you both of you for all the effort to finally get up there and let us see what it was.

I can imagine some errant explorer stumbling uopn the top opening, from the outside, and not realising there's a serious drop just around the corner. But at least, you achieved a fantastic goal, in finding out exactly what was hidden up that shaft. And you had an adventure, and fun, doing it! Not bad for a "grumpy old man"! you should have perhaps added a little about the area up top, light was coming in so must be open. Even if it was inaccessible cliff, would have been a good place to fly the drone outside up to.

As far as getting down you can pull the ladder up with the rope tie the ladder off and then climb down the ladder then repel from the ladder. Getting the ladder back will be as good as your rope skills are🎉
