Now that apple allows to set a different wallpaper together with a different focus mode I will have one for each of my girlfriends combined with a focus mode that blocks all calls and messages from the others. Thanks Tim!

@@redart91 Android “borrows” features from iOS all the time. Look at how they failed miserably to implement gesture control before finally copying the iPhone X. Look at their recent so called privacy features that lag years behind the iOS implementation of it. First it was location while only using the app, then allow location once, allow non precise location. Like clockwork Android was a year late to this but unlike Apple they only slowly rolled out this update to 1-2 year old flagship devices. But of course given that Google makes money off data harvesting and advertising, they stopped short of blocking tracking. The difference is when Android copies an Apple feature they somehow find a way to dumb it down and fill it with caveats. When iOS integrated widgets and the new Lock Screen customisations now, it actually looks cohesive, premium and properly integrated rather than the tacky fragmented mess on Android. The sad state of things is iOS is now going to be more customisable in the areas that matter to end users than Android 12 is after clamping down on customisation with “material you”
@User-cb4jm
@User-cb4jm 2 жыл бұрын
@@redart91 success in implementation also matters. Nobody cares who does it first, they care who does it BEST. When Apple rolls out an update, it’s not a fragmented mess and reaches 5 year old+ devices on day one. So when they launch something new it has a tangible impact overnight. Marques has every right to remain positive and highlight all the new features coming to an iOS device. Android isn’t part of the conversation here, so why should he be nitpicking what some random Android did poorly in 2012 that resembles this refined end result here. Go watch his coverage or Android 13 then.

"79% of US buyers only consider CarPlay-capable vehicles" - this could just mean that, since so many cars have CarPlay, it's hard to consider buying one that hasn't. It's not necessarily because people love CarPlay; it's just that most of people's top car choices happened to have it.
@gmony1552
@gmony1552 2 жыл бұрын
As a car guy myself, I would also add that most car companies cannot create software to save their life. As such, much of CarPlay's popularity come not from Carplay being so amazing, rather it comes from the fact that it just works. Listen to any car reviewer on KZbin and they will almost aways bring up how garbage the infotaiment system is, from it being unintuitive, laggy, buggy, etc. CarPlay (and Andriod Auto for that matter) end up looking awesome by comparison. It's not an apples to apples comparison, it's a what would you rather have: an apple or literal shit

To your question about the built-in infotainment system: The thing with the infotainment system is that combines the media center with the status of the car (engine, sensors, transmission, consumption) and can provide a more in deep analysis of the vehicle like codes for repair, the status of the engine, parts, etc. Because is part of one single system, Google and Apple can run on several vehicles but through a synchronization process, because a car company will not jeopardize their products, especially if you are talking about security, maintenance, engine status, transmission, etc. To fully replace that, Google and Apple need to work from the beginning of the manufacturing process of the car and all his components. Some manufacturers support these technologies, but only as an option because at the end, and because of some specific information and analysis (security codes, repair codes, sensors, etc.) is more than just a media player, GPS, speedometer, etc.

Can we just stop this whole "Android has been doing it longer" nonsense. These are two DIFFERENT operating systems and companies. Of course Apple will do things their own way, same as Android. There's a reason why Android software is buggy and tends to crash more often, and has worse apps. While Apple is usually slower to the game, at least it works as intended and isn't super buggy. Personally, I'd rather have a refined system that gets features slower than have all the features but they only work half as good half of the time...

Bluetooth really isn’t at the level of longevity and quality of wired. Apple’s Air Pod Pros are the last product of theirs I genuinely like and care about and they just gradually get worse to use as Apple doesn’t even let me buy a new model to upgrade (and I’d much rather a new airpod pro model than another basically the same iPhone).

I think Apple is finally allowing more customization of features like the lock screen and home screen because the way people use their devices is evolving. When the first iPhone/iOS was released, the smartphone market at the time was full of devices that were complicated and difficult to use. iPhone's biggest drawing point was that it was incredibly simple to use -- "it just works." Apple's kept that philosophy for years, but I think they're realizing that it's sort of becoming obsolete. Not many people need smartphones that are super simple to use anymore because basically everyone knows how to use a smartphone, so adding more complicated features like widgets on the home and lock screens doesn't scare people away by making the device too hard to use.

Why would they pick those colors for the Macbook Air? I'm sure everyone was expecting a brightly colored line-up to match the iMacs. That would've been so nice.

Regarding Carplay, I hope there is an instant backup available when Carplay inevitably loses connection at random instances, otherwise you’ll be driving with no idea what speed you’re going 😂 Presumably it would just default back to the car’s standard display.

You need to keep in mind, that the „35% gpu perf improvement“ is with the 10 core m2 model that costs 120€ extra. The base one only has 8 gpu cores. Also: they upped the price of the „new“ Macbook pro from 1299€ to 1599€?! (In europe)

Thanks for changing it! Although I also have to add in my Country the Pro costs about $75 more than the Air so it’s a no brainier to many people so in my opinion the M2 Pro is a steal. I also have to add that the Air did go up in price by 200 dollars so, that’s a point to add.

Thank you for mentioning the calculator on iPad, even in jest 😂I’ve been wanting it for a long time! Alsoooo, do you think they’ll keep the 13’ MacBook Pro with touchbar? Personally I loved it for video editing and thought it was going away. Hope this is a long term keep, was pleased to see one with an M2!

Desk view is the creepiest shit I ever seen, how the frick can the camera see what's below when pointing forward. Nothing was ever private, they just say it's an update to get the word out there that now the iPhone camera is capable of doing what it was able to do all along. No thanks apple. Opinions about this appreciated.

@@mcfcmandem Well, what do you mean? You had ultrawide camera on back of your iphone, didnt you? So that is just using this wide angle. You can take your iphone, put in this position and take an ultrawide picture and you can see what is in the picture. The top down view is misleading it is not really top down, If you have something taller in front of your computer that is going to look very weird. But it is not going to bring any more information from the ultrawide camera from what the unltrawide is already capable.

Cinematic! Cinematic!! I always wanted to see what would happen when MQBHD's Red rig would be used for its intended purpose. Wow, the results are beautiful. Marques' skin tone are so rich and warmly it. The new studio is now a warm glow with -- of all things -- a light absorbing grey. Marques' gray tee rounds out the color scheme. Sure, a lot went into correctly lighting Marques's face. So none of the visuals just happened. But still, its a beautiful aesthetic. As for Apple's new releases, one could argue that the newest releases are nothing more than a set of OS refinements. In many ways, this argument is wrong. Increasingly, Apple is redefining the tools and methodologies that one uses to work, communicate, and connect with family and friends. Its a work in progress: one that is being implemented in some organic ways. They now just seamlessly facilitate the ways people naturally make things, share ideas, and work in collaboration. Neither Apple nor Marques spent much time talking about the literal leap in the increase performance of the M2 processor. Relative to M1, the performance and efficiency levels are phenomenal. We now have laptops that run what is now about a three day work schedule without a recharge. The other performance gains are also impressive. 18%-50% increases in performance across an already superb M1 chip is a thing of legends. Related, I would have liked for Marques to have discussed the other iterations of the M2 chip. These would, if the chip's new variations include M2 Max or M2 ultra versions, that M2 chip will reach other worldly efficiency and performance levels. During times like this, I wonder what Steve Jobs would have to say. Probably a lot. I also think he would be impressed not only by Apple's technological achievements, but also its forays into different consumer markets.

AND the watchOS sleep-tracking with phases is something we've been waiting for a long time - it's finally here! As a dev, i am pretty hyped about Live-activities - so much possibilities!
