Sable sued the WWF in 1999 for an insane amount of money over sexual harassment, and then came back four years later to play Vince McMahon's mistress. Only in wrestling.
@Hertfordshire2475 жыл бұрын
I would be more inclined to think Mcmahon was "in debt for life" for sexual favours. I would go further and say this is probably another reason Brock gets what he wants via proxy through Sable as it is know he had a fixation with certain females in WWE going by Cornette. Stuff Mcmahon would not want getting out. If you think Mcmahon wouldn't hold a debt for life, have a look at Kevin Dunn. There is probably a lot of reasons WWE is in the shit state it is in today when you stop and think about the timeline and history of Mcmahon and his devious behaviour from his younger years/mid-life crisis which he is now having to pay back debt for. Buying their silence, helping his wife and avoiding scandal here, company reputation in terms of stock and avoiding scandal there. Put it another way, if a "Ring-Boy Scandal" broke today, the repercussions would be far devastating than it did back in 1992, not to mention, Mcmahon's handling of it back then.

@@Hertfordshire247 Vince McMahon is extremely similar to his friend Donald Trump. At this point, him paying women off for keeping silent about affairs and/or harassment is more likely than not, after trump paying off a pornstar was proven. Lesnar gets INSANE contract money for appearing very little in super short matches. It _does_ look like a laundering/paying-off scheme. Paying millions to Brock via legit contract instead of siphoning money to Rena same way tRump did to Stormy Daniels. I've always loved Torrie, but don't you think WWE pushed her way too much? She won at WrestleMania TWICE, which I think has got to be a record for a Diva who never won a title (please correct me if I'm wrong); she also had something like 10 pay-per-view singles matches, when so many other Divas were lucky if they got one or two. I think she was the start of a trend in WWE of them taking a Diva you kind of liked and then hyping her until you got absolutely sick of her - not thinking she wasn't hot anymore, mind you, but resenting that she was stealing the spotlight from other Divas. Candice Michelle and Kelly Kelly were definitely her successors. I damn near had a heart attack when Candice was booked to win the Women's Championship after being a competent wrestler for only a few months. I thought, doesn't WWE care about credibility AT ALL?

@@fuzzydunlop7928 When you factor them wanting to add the whole Taker murdering Paul Bearer ending, it wouldn’t make sense to have it before Eddie and JBL, as it honestly would take some of the sail from it. Obviously Eddie vs JBL for the title was a better match and sounds more like a main event, but if they had Taker kill Bearer than proceed on with Eddie vs JBL, people would still just have the Bearer murder on their mind. Could even stir up controversy, as the WWF did famously continue the show after the REAL life death of Owen Hart that was so grossly the fault of the WWE due to their negligence, it might as well be considered a murder. So yeah obviously the best decision would have been to just drop the whole murder angle, but since Vince McMahon obviously thought it was a good idea, than yeah, save it for the end. Makes for a bummer ending to a show, but I guess some have to have bummer endings.

June 27th, 2004 is a day that lives in infamy for me. The day before my grandmother was sent to the hospital, then the actual day itself the NASCAR race at Sears Point (Infineon) ended up being a disaster (Thanks Jeff Gordon), then there a tape delayed NHRA event came on the same time as The Great American Bash, so I mainly watched the Bash. During said Bash, my Dad called me to his room to let me know that one of my favorite NHRA Top Fuel racers, Darrell Russell, had a crash after his 2nd round loss to Scott Kalitta. The crash itself reminded me of a crash another favorite of mine, Gary Scelzi, had 4 years prior, so I assumed Darrell was ok & resumed to the PPV. The event itself was badly ugh, but the last 2 matches took the cake in ugh-ness. Eddie Guerrero, who'd become one of my favorites down the road, was screwed in his match. The rules of a bullrope match clearly state if your hand touches the rope you win. Bradshaw's back touched the last turn buckle, *NOT* his hand, therefore Eddie should have won (One of the major reason I was hesitant about Kurt Angle becoming RAW GM earlier this year). Then the "Live Free or Die" match featuring my all-time favorite wrestler, The Undertaker, in a horrendously bad storyline with (Of course) Paul Heyman. Undertaker won the match but then he himself proceeds to bury Paul Bearer in concrete... This was the only time I have EVER gotten mad at The Undertaker. So the worst WWE Pay-Per-View of all time was only about 2 to 2 1/2 hours away from where I live, my favorite wrestler gets me mad at him, & my soon-to-be second favorite gets screwed by a yahoo who I can't stand since... ... & then right after the PPV, I find out the NHRA racer I like who had that crash actually died... Top top that off, June 27th is my favorite NASCAR drivers birthday! Obviously Johnny Benson's 41st birthday is a day I rather forget!...

I watched this show live. It was bad - really, REALLY bad. The Taker-Dudleyz feud was totally pointless and a waste of Taker, Eddie-JBL was a decent match but worse than their Judgement Day match and the start of JBL's horrible title reign, and Mysterio was totally wasted having random feuds over the cruiserweight title when he was one of the hottest acts on the show. And I was one of the few people who actually thought the Mordecai gimmick was cool and had potential, but they couldn't escape the fact that the guy sucked in the ring and couldn't squash geeks forever. This was a time when the brand split was really hurting both shows, as it meant PPV time was given to talentless hacks like Kenzo Suzuki and Luther Reigns, but they were also somehow wasting the real talent they had, with Booker T and RVD languishing in the mid-card, jerking the curtain on shows like GAB. In hindsight, 2004 was a really weird year. John Cena wasn't the biggest thing in the world, and people actually liked him. Randy Orton and Batista were just getting off the ground, Edge was still a mid-carder, and Jericho was also stuck in the mid-card. Eddie was great, but slipped back to the mid-card too soon after his title win. HHH was insufferable as a character but having great matches, HBK was awesome, Benoit was awesome, Mysterio was great, Angle was awesome but was out injured for the first half of the year, and Taker was involved in big feuds but wasn't having great matches.

The draft was seriously dramatic, ECW One Night Stand was great, you had the realness of Edge's feud with Matt Hardy and the dawn of Edge as a mega-heel, and Taker's feud with Orton was way better than anything he was doing in '04. There was still plenty of crap, like the weirdness of the Summerslam main event of Hogan-HBK, another horrible Diva Search, the death of Eddie, and so on, but overall it was one of the better years I can remember from WWE. I agree that 2006 was where things took a turn for the worse, with the ECW revival, the birth of Super Cena, losing Angle to TNA, too much Bobby Lashley and Big Show, and so on. I wasn't really watching in 2003, but I think the general consensus is that it was mostly terrible but there was some great wrestling on SD!.

Stefan Witkowski-Baker Yes, that's why I said the times were WEIRD instead of BAD lol. Smackdown was *far* better than RAW from late 02' to mid 04' when the injury slut fucked Smackdown's top stars & spread. In 2005, WWE was just weird to me.

I think Lesnar leaving the company somehow was the main problem in 2004, because Triple H, Benoit, Michaels and a couple of guys were the only main eventers, but at the same time they started to push new guys on the midcard. In 2005 those guys (Batista, Cena, Orton, Edge, etc) started to become main eventers.

3:22 Booker T did that a lot in WCW, especially in Harlem Heat days. I think it was a tribute to 2 Cold Scorpio.

I'd still take Torrie Wilson NOW over Sable here, even mid/late 90s Sable (no offense, Rena). Who disagrees with me? Brock Lesnar is one lucky ass dude though.

I'm kinda stunned in hindsight that they brought Paul Bearer back again - Wikipedia tells me he signed a 3-year contract - only to kill him off after 3 months. Why even bother?

Billy Gunn should've been in the US Title picture after he returned in 2003, but instead, they'd rather keep him in a lower card feud with Jamie Noble and then work Velocity majority of time until his release.

I've been enjoying this series. When I get a little extra money I want to become a patreon backer and have you watch either NWO Souled out or In your House: Good Friends better enemies.

Cena absolutely was despised during this time. He wasn't shoved down our throats much, but he was still an astoundingly bad wrestler, even more so for how hard he was pushed. You'd never think it just watching Smackdown because they edit out the boos/add crowd noises in post.

Matej Terzić The 20th anniversary would be Wrestlemania 21 which was 20 years after the first Wrestlemania making it the 20th anniversary.

Matej Terzić no it's the 19 anniversary your marriage is not the first anniversary of your marriage also 1985+20 equals 2005 not 2004

@@orlandodanielperez5131 I recommend watching RAW 2004. It was a great year and the in ring action picked up when Benoit showed up. Smackdown on the other hand was absolutely terrible to watch. Worst year in Smackdown history.

I had this on DVD back in the day. I'm honestly surprised with the concrete crypt trick photography I honestly never knew that during the match it wasn't actually Paul Bear but a damn stunt double. I always thought it was Paul. I'm honestly surprised.

I was one of those anti-JBL guys. Still am. Layfield's fast-rise didn't bother me in regards to his in-ring character or his speed-booked ME push as much as his relative lack of talent compared to other recent champs and the goose stepping in German only months before, making one wonder if putting the title on someone with such poor judgement was a good idea. Looking at all the bullying allegations and social Darwinist comments later, it seems more and more like a good thing happening to a bad person.

JDWanko well Paul Heyman said it best. The only reason why he held the WWE Title for a year is because Triple H didn't want to work Tuesdays
