But, its like you're saying wrestling fans only want one type of product - AEW style wrestling. From the wrestling to the promos to the TV presentation. If you match the concept of NXT 2.0 with half of the repackagings of RAW in the last 2 or 3 years, it's very, very close to 92-95. In terms of gimmicks, concepts, storytelling, in-ring action, etc.

Well, it's 2021, and WWE is creatively bankrupt like back then, only worse. And who does WWE have to copy from? Vince McMahon killed exactly what Triple H and NXT were already doing. NXT had the blueprint. Long-term storytelling, 4 to maybe 5 PPVs spread out the entire year. Quality over Quantity. What did Vince McMahon do? He killed it because his ego can't allow someone even it's his own son-in-law to being and doing better than him. Now, look at AEW. AEW has and is using that very same blueprint. Long-term storytelling, long-term booking, 4 PPVs a year months apart that allows them to have special theme shows on television that are like mini PPVs in between the actual big PPVs. This basically the old school model WWF used to have back in the day. You had your SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, and Wrestlemania. With a Saturday Night's Main Event in between PPVs or other special shows of that kind. WWE won't go back to that model because they have become greedy and overproduced their product to the point of just burning out their own fanbase with too many shows. WWE wants to make too much money off of too many shows. WWE is money and nothing else. Vince McMahon is too greedy to the point that scaling back and getting rid of a bunch of PPVs is him losing money. He's money over the health of the product. WWE's downfall will because of Vince McMahon's greed and no desire to do what's right if someone tells him to. It's his way and nobody else's.

WWE with 70 years of experience, a far larger company, a ton more name recognition in Roman and Brock and Becky, a 2 hour lead in, and going commercial free should have slaughtered AEW by at least 2 to 1 in every demo even on the smaller channel. The only thing T. Kahn did was stand up for his company and say we accept your challenge. As to putting the Suzuki vs Danielson match on Rampage, I would have lost respect for TK if he had done that. The card was set before Vince made an issue of it. I call out WWE when they hot-shot even if it is a really good match. I would have done the same if that match had been on Rampage. It would have been just for the views. Plus now we have the Hare of the Table putting down her Oreos and slaying beasts and big dogs alike. A true Demo-goddess. That would have never happened without TK sticking with his original script.

AEW's B-show that is barely over 2 months old managed to beat WWE's A-show. And that B-show had no Kenny Omega, no Elite, no Bryan Danielson, no Hangman Page, no jon Moxley. The two biggest names on that show were CM Punk and Chris Jericho. The rest were midcarders and a bunch of MMA guest stars. Yeah, circumstances and all that, but as a wise mathematician once said, the numbers don't lie.

This is such a massive own goal on WWE's part, they could have put on an average card for Smackdown on FS1 without the half hour overrun, they would have won in overall viewers and lost slightly in the demo, and could have spun it (correctly) as an aberration that would be corrected once they are back on their normal channel. But instead they loaded up the card and went an extra half hour, and as a result have legitimized their competition and made 4 of their biggest main eventers, and most importantly Roman, out as losers who can't draw like the "mainstream stars" they are supposed to be.

Also, if they did a better job of utilizing the talent they had, AEW would not have existed. It was not giving CM Punk the Wrestlemania main event he had earned and deserved. It was relegating Cody Rhodes to being just a goofy knock-off version of his brother’s Goldust gimmick. It was trying to change Adam Cole’s name and look. It was never thinking about giving guys like MJF or Darby Allin a chance. It was years of bad comedy, storylines and pushes that go nowhere, and pushing the same 4,5 people. All of that led to this moment, where the key demographic chose the new product over the old established one.

The Adam Cole situation and the way that was handled was a big red flag for me. I knew Adam Cole was good prior to him joining NXT, but I never had that moment where I thought this guy was a special talent. His time in NXT changed my mind on him...with his ability to go in there with a wide range of styles and dimensions in matches that an audience can buy into. Whether it was Keith Lee, Karrion Kross or smaller guys such as Gargano or a rookie in Velveteen dream. His ability to be a great heel and the other layer of being an excellent promo for sure had me expecting big things for him within the wwe... (call me a naïve idealist). For WWE to let him go and think that all he could be is a manager for someone else said it all to me.

WWE's audience is dominated by an average age over 60. Yes most of those people will probably be WWE for life. But AEW is creating new fans and bringing back lapsed fans. The fans are younger and the audience is slowly growing. If AEW just keeps doing their thing they will eventually pass WWE because they will either have new fans or WWE's fans pass on.

Under 18's most likely wont have the money to buy these products themselves, or what the network is showing (ad-wise) for instance they aren't going to show toy ads on an aew show because aew is for adults. Also the same can kind of be said about the older generations. Pensioners are less likely to spend money on things they don't find extremely necessary so there is no point showing ads about let's say cars for example.

They’re young, they have purchasing power and most likely to become longterm customers. That’s why they call it “the money demo”. If you’re hitting those numbers in any medium, you have a bright future. If you aren’t, you’re in trouble. Unless you’re Ben Gay or AARP, you had better be hitting that demographic, especially if you’re in television of any kind. And, look at that, WWE is on television. Without hitting those demographics and already lagging behind on their viewership targets, they’re going to lose the FOX deal in 3 years, and probably will be in trouble with a USA deal. That’s why they need to turn things around ASAP.

Those were the '27 year old NBA fans' who decided to turn off because the product wasn't for them, and that's fine too. AEW is a niche product, they adore ironic comedy and spotfest wrestling matches so if people like that, they'll love AEW, but if not, they'll hate it. Half of the people who gave AEW a chance hated it, which is why the numbers fell so quickly and haven't been increasing on a regular basis.

I think it’s just that WWE doesn’t have much to talk about, I feel like every AEW show, even without following wrestling that closely, I see a highlight reel or a gif of a segment on Twitter, if you watch AEW you get something different and exciting every week with great characters with easily identifiable traits and styles, WWE is just a repetitive hodgepodge, that 5-7 hours of TV is all of stuff we’ve seen before by people we don’t care about with ringwork that goes through the motions without building satisfying angles, characters or conclusions

I know this isn’t breaking news, but Vince is an old man. And as anyone who has had to deal with older folks knows, they don’t change. In business, in life, in anything. Unless something drastic changes in the variables surrounding these two companies, like WWE completely abandoning the 18-49 group, reorganizing their company and changing entirely who their target demo is, it’s only a matter of time before that company nosedives. Luckily 18-49 isn’t the only group they market to, but regardless, that company is about to take a serious and long term hit.
