Don't care what anyone says, this was great. Kids today are missing out man. 1996 I remember being in the arcade using my school lunch money and everyone crowded round the machine. Its the same with music, being in a shop and people crowding round hearing new music. Its a real shame with technology that whole lifestyle is gone. These were magic moments of my childhood The other was the countless hacked versions of Streetfighter 2. One where Balrog could Hadoken and Guile did two sonic booms at once that went up and down. Never gonna have that feeling again

I also missed those days, i was playing game like this one at the arcade, mortal kombat 2, 4 players tmnt, x-men, the simpsons, golden axe, terminator 2, this one had two guns in the machine to control, lucky & wild, aliens vs predators and many more like that. I wonder how many quarters i spend in those arcades back in the 80/90s. Kids today will never know that magic feeling we had back then.

1996? Shit.. I was the 80s arcade where we had Gauntlet, Dragon's Lair, Tapper, Operation Wolf and a host of others. To me.. That was the best time for the arcade.. Because everyone was competing and making exciting new games. The 90s to me were the beat em up era, and the end of the arcade.

This game was so well designed. It had so many dynamic elements. Fatigue, stamina, holding the opponent while you go on the top rope to take advantage, fighting outside of the ring, using the steps as a weapon, taunting, tag team partner interference, throwing the opponent into the blue steel cage, breaking up the 3 count through interference and so much more. This game is one of the best wrestling games ever!

Warrior is probably the best character in this game. He has the clothesline to start out with which then switches to a Flying clothesline when the opponent gets hurt. Both have better hitboxes than most of the other characters running attacks. He also has a running splash finish which is very good for closing matches in this. (Second best is Jake who has an elbow attack for his running move that changes into a jumping knee attack - both of which also have long hitboxes which make it easier to hit people climbing in and out of the ropes or with meaty attacks on people who were knocked down.) I always loved this game. :)

I'm amazed at the fact that this (a real arcade game) looks like a Super NES game. I mean, the Super NES was capable of these graphics (or pretty darn near). I was amazed by this arcade when I saw it back in the day. But now I wonder why.
@ravagingwolverine6 жыл бұрын
Back when this game was new, 16-bit home games were still pretty basic, limited by small carts. It would be a few years before we'd see the Genesis and SNES do their best. That's why this arcade game looked so amazing when it was new. I have had the same experience as you where games that once looked amazing didn't seem so impressive later, but those games were still a couple of years ahead of anything comparable at home.
@Anomaly6286 жыл бұрын
@@ravagingwolverine The SNES could absolutely not do this game.. The Sprites would have been smaller, you would be missing lots of animation, and you would not have as many characters on screen at the same time and the shear graphic detail would have been way off.. Show me one wreslting game on SNES that looked anything like this...
@ravagingwolverine6 жыл бұрын
@@Anomaly628 I agree with you. Any attempt at a port would have required significant cuts. I was just pointing out why the game looked so impressive at the time. As I recall, it came out in early 1991, so the Super Famicom had only been available in Japan for a short time, and it was over six months away from a North American release. The Genesis was still in its early days in the west as well. So Wrestlefest was legitimately impressive when it was new because people were still accustomed to 8-bit and early 16-bit games at home. And early SNES games were limited in many ways including storage. The home consoles were several years away from their best-looking games. Even if Donkey Kong Country is a much simpler game, I can understand why that would change people's perception of an older game like this and make it seem less impressive, especially if they're taking a superficial look. As you point out, the sprite size and level of animation would be impossible. I remember being blown away by this game when it was new.
