Good review as always. About the Bret Hart tap out; the reason it didn't count is that back in the early 90s they didn't do tap outs for submission moves. You ether told the ref you wanted it to stop or they did the three arm drops to show you passed out. Watch a lot of matches from that time and you see guys "tapping" as a way to express pain or, as you said, to fire the crowd up. Tapping out didn't become a thing till the late 90s, the attitude era and the rise of MMA.

Previous month I was able to withdraw my first five figure paycheck ever!!! I've been working for this company online for two years now and I never been happier... They are paying me $95 per hour, and the most important thing about it is that I am not really that tech-savvy, they just required basic awareness of internet and elementary typing skill...Awesome thing about it is that I have more time for my loved ones. I am in a position to enjoy quality time with my relatives and buddies and take care of my children and also going on family holiday with them very often. Don't ignore this chance and try to act rapidly. Let me show you what I do... *newsuperb71.com*

My two pence worth: 1.Rhonda Shear guest-starred in a lot of TV shows throughout the 70's and 80's, such as Happy Days, Cheers, and The A-Team (I got this info from the New Generation Project Podcast). 2.I've heard rumors that the Tag-Team Titles match was originally going to be the blow-off to the feud between the Quebecers and the Steiner Brothers, stemming from the September 13th 1993 episode of Raw when the Quebecers won the titles in a Province of Quebec Rules match. Obviously, it would be a no-brainer for the Steiners to win back the gold on the grandest stage of them all. But, Vince found out after the 1994 Royal Rumble that the Steiners also wanted to wrestle for New Japan while renewing their WWF contracts, so he took them off the card and replaced them with M.O.M. Because of this, the Steiners left the WWF before King of the Ring and would spend the rest of 1994 in Japan, with their contracts expiring in December. 3.The urban legend that Luger was scheduled to win the World Title here and spilled the beans about it the night before at an NY bar is completely false, because Luger was actually in Conneticut with his family, as they were visiting some friends the night before. Also, Vince was smart enough to listen to the mega-sized pop that Bret got from the Providence fans at the Royal Rumble, as well as the boo's Luger received from that same crowd. 4.Another reason for Perfect screwing Luger over was to get back at him for whacking him in the head with his steel-plated forearm at WrestleMania 9. 5.Bob Holly, who was scheduled to tag with Tatanka, The 1-2-3 Kid, and the Smoking Gunns against IRS, Martel, Jarrett, and the Headshrinkers, recalls in his book "The Hardcore Truth" how Macho berated Shawn and Razor backstage for allowing their match to go on *WAY* over their alloted time: "He ripped them a new asshole and called them selfish motherfuckers. He told them that they had disrespected the other boys by taking their TV time and their spot on WrestleMania in order to go over their time allowance. Randy felt it was a 'screw you' to everyone else, that Shawn and Scott thought that their match was going to be so good that they could screw 10 guys out of a WrestleMania appearance and a payday." On the plus side, the ten-man tag match was taped the next night, and was shown on the April 4th edition of Raw, with Team IRS getting the win when IRS pinned the Kid, who hit the corner. This match was included on the UK-exclusive WWF Mania VHS tape, which was hosted by Johnny Polo, who took every opportunity to bury Todd Pettengill.

Deep Ghoul Great information and I loved every minute of this comment line for line! Well for me who goes back further than most fans here I'm assuming born in (77') so I watched through the Golden era in my opinion 1984-89'. The New Generation wasn't the same character driven wrestlers as I grew up with in the mid to late 80's. Obviously barring a few great ones hence the Bret Harts, Macho Man although here Vince had him on such a uninteresting fued with Crush the 3rd demolition where they immediately lost interest to me and now a heel far from the Hawaiian feel good Crush who was more for kids much like the other gimmicks during this era. hence Doink and worse yet Dink , M.O.M. the failed rap group yet popular with.....you guessed it the kids! Now I know what you're thinking I was a kid in the 80's? How were my guys not... Because they weren't gimmicks they didn't change names like 123 Kid from a somewhat successful Raw match. We had Andre the Giant. Sure we had Koko B. Ware bird gimmick British Bulldogs Matilda but Rick Rude!? Jake the Snake a gimmick? Ricky The Dragon Steamboat gimmick? not until he was in the 90's era. none of these guys could be lowered to a gimmick. Dynamite Kid is referred to the most breakthrough wrestler for his time. Steamboat is referred to as having the best match in history. Jake had one of the best promos in history. etc. With that said I did get the jist of what and who during this era because of my Lil brother. I knew lex lugar but his gimmick's were forgettable even when he got the biggest push ever pre HBK.

With regards to the Macho Man/Crush match, I think the kayfabe reason he went to pin him outside as opposed to in the ring is because they thought that if they pinned him in the ring, then he'd immediately get back into the match rather than just lose under these conditions. Legitimately, it's so they can have a longer match

As the guy below pointed out, tap outs only started to happen in late 97 after Shamrock debuted. The Macho/Crush FCA match was pretty much the only FCA match in WWF, televised I can think of up to that point so they were definitely testing the water with that. As a kid, I thought it was one of the coolest looking matches I'd ever seen. You NEVER saw the back of the arena in PPV matches back then.

Wrestlemania X is easily one of my favorites as I am a big Bret Hart fan. This one falls in my top 5 WM's of all time as you have 2 of the best matches in Wrestlemania history and the desired payoff for the WWE Title as fans made clear at the Royal Rumble that they wanted Bret to win and he did. 1994 may not have been one of the best years in wrestling history (1995 being the worst), but WWE had good matches at, for the time, the big 5 PPV's, and all of them featured Bret, Owen, Shawn, and Razor with really good matches. The other matches on this show at least didn't do any kind of reputable damage, unlike it's predecessor, or it's successor. This was also the period where WWE had a pattern of good Wrestlemania/bad Wrestlemania's. 8, 10, 12, and 14 were good, 9, 11, 13 (THE match aside), and 15 (excluding the last 2 matches).

Interesting point of note to the younger fans of wrestling, and an interesting point you brought up in this video. I've heard a lot of younger fans talking about Bret tapping out during that Sharpshooter spot and why the ref didn't call the match there. The answer is because this was before the time of tapping out. You had to tell the ref I quit, or if he asks you if you quit say yes. Tapping out really didn't come into play until the UFC really started becoming a hot thing
