You have inspired me to get the WW1 army truck and to build it following your videos. This way I will learn all of your techniques and products you use. Loved this build! Consider yourself my mentor. 😁 Thanks so much Johnny!

Hi Johnny, stunning, absolutely stunning. Those tiny buckles are a fantastic detail that makes the straps pop! The tied down canvas, radiator hose clips and every little additional detail make for a superb, eye-catching build. The hillbilly paint chemist never let's me down😂 we like green 👍 stay safe my friend and can't wait for your next box review/ build. See you next week😊

Glad you enjoyed it Ian. This kit leaves plenty of room for us to improve it and really make it our own. Not to mention that it's a great subject for modeling. Thanks so much for watching buddy, take care and enjoy the weekend! Johnny

All the work really payed off Johnny and she’s turned out a beauty.!.Like the straps you made and shame ICM didn’t include this detail..But the details you added and especially the canvas roping took this kit to another level..In all an excellent series on this kit Johnny..Until next time..Have a great week and all the best..🇬🇧🇺🇸👍

Thanks Paul👍it is a shame that ICM didn't provide something for the cab canvas straps, but, we are modelers and it's not difficult to fabricate these. I didn't expect them to do anything with the canvas rope, even Tamiya deletes this detail. I'm happy with how it turned out, thanks so much for watching buddy, see you next Friday. Johnny

Thank you very much Raymond, you should pick this one up, it builds up very well and there's lots of room to do small improvements. Additionally, there really aren't too many parts to assemble but the kit has wonderful detail. Thanks for watching, take care my friend. Johnny

Thanks a bunch Richard! Greatly appreciate it. You know it's amazing how such little things like the cab canvas straps and the canvas rope, (thread), can have such an impact on the overall presentation. And that's ok with me, I love scratch building. Thanks so much for watching, have a great week! Johnny
@RESlusherАй бұрын
@@hillbillymodeling Yeah, on my last project, a HEMTT gun-truck I scratch built the tiedown hooks along the sides of the cargo bed using fine solder. To me, it really made a difference compared to the molded-on parts. Thanks for doin' whatcher doin', Johnny! 🤠

I'm playing catch up again, Johnny. Really fabulous finish on this one, I particularly like your solution to the leather straps for the cab cover, they look really good and add to the quality of the finish. I'll get stuck in to the JS2 videos over the next few days.

Hi Gerry, I think those straps are really important for the overall look, it's a shame that ICM didn't provide us with something in the kit. But that's ok, we are modelers, we can fix it! 😉Thanks so much for watching, take care and have a great weekend. Johnny

Hiya Johnny! Sorry for not commenting sooner, but I've been away for a while (first a vacation, then coming home sick like a dog). But today I finally got time to catch up. This whole build was phenomenal 💓You really did a fantastic job, so much detail and finesse, like the straps and buckles, or the canvas rope. I just love it!!! Question: I need a thread like yours to simulate rope in 1/35 scale - but I don't know what and where to look for. Can you give me a hint? Tip: I noticed you using a toothpick to apply the thick cement, I guess because the cap brush is too big, right? The brushes are removable, simply take out the smaller brush of an empty Extra Thin and stick it in the orange (or white) cap! This way you can keep the proper cap color but with a smaller brush 🙂
@hillbillymodeling26 күн бұрын
Hey Mike, thanks buddy, it did come out fairly well, I think. As far as the thread goes, get common sewing thread with a cotton poly blend, the polyester thread is usually a little too stiff and the 100% cotton will be too fuzzy. Of course, you can always wax the cotton stuff and use it, the CA glue will still glue it up just fine. The wax is an old ship modelers trick. There are different thicknesses, for instance thread for blue jeans is a thicker variety, so pick one that works for you. Thread is cheap so you can pick two or three different ones and use the one that suits your application. As far as using the toothpick, it gives me more control with the thick cement so I can minimize squeeze out. I find the brush too big to be accurate. Thanks for watching, take care and glad to hear that you're feeling better! Johnny
@MikeUSA6726 күн бұрын
@@hillbillymodeling Thanks buddy, I will look into it and see what I can find here. You wouldn't happen to know the exact German term for that kind of thread, do ya? 🙂
@hillbillymodeling25 күн бұрын
@@MikeUSA67 Well, no, I don't. But I often get comments from viewers that don't speak English. So, I use google translate, it seems to do the job. There are also language apps you can download on your smart phone to help out on the go. Now all you have to do is find a store that sells thread, can't help there buddy! Johnny

That is a Ammo of Mig product.
@hillbillymodelingАй бұрын
Thanks for watching Robert. Are you referring to the model, or one of the products I used on the kit? I know that Ammo by Mig markets kits under their brand, but I really don't know if they actually mold the kits or use someone else's. That would be a good research project for me, I guess. Take care my friend. Johnny
