Did ya'll really forget about "On a man for man basis, German ground soldiers consistently inflicted casualties at about a 50 percent higher rate than they incurred from the opposing British and American troops under all circumstances. This was true when they were attacking and when they were defending, when they had a local numerical superiority and when, as was usually the case, they were outnumbered, when they had air superiority and when they did not, when they won and when they lost." This was said by an American colonel by the way.

The German jet was probably your smallest threat. They never shot down any enemy airplanes. They could hardly turn without tearing itself apart, making it impossible to aim. And even then it was too fast for the types of firearms that were made for them. No missiles. Only machineguns.

@Thor.Jorgensen

@@henrygibbons2637 No? If an old jet like that were to attempt to fly vertically, it would either stall and crash or fly too fast toward the ground and not be able to correct itself to pull the nose up... And crash. Flying horizontally was the only option for it. It was not maneuverable at all. Dive fighting requires tremendous maneuverability. Sharp turns would tear the wings off. Flying without wings will cause the plane to crash. I hope I have made myself clear.

@@leopoldsalzbrenner7791 definitely added in. Think about it. you’re in a b-17: Four massive Pratt & Whitney radial engines right there. Unpressurized, going 280 mph at 30,000 feet. The air alone is deafening. If the machine guns are going off that’s extra noise. (.50 cals are LOUD) you’re also micd in with headphones listening to everyone one else. Not to mentions the other bombers next to you, and it’s going to be pretty hard to hear a plane. Even in a single seat fighter you’re going to only hear your engine, other pilots, and machine guns.

It wouldn't have made a difference because Germany had chronic fuel shortages. They didn't have enough fuel to replace horses with trucks, let alone power significant amounts of jet air craft. Their entire war effort hinged on the assumption that they would be able to seize oil fields in the Soviet Union which, of course, was never going to happen. But in their world view it was impossible for Aryan supermen to be defeated by subhuman races so they didn't foresee the issues.

I’ve seen a few German stuff on KZbin. Just gotta look. There are a lot of good stories from the German side of the war, my favourite being the Wounded Bomber. Where the German pilot spared a wounded B-17 and it’s crew and escorted it out of enemy territory. You can see lots of that on on KZbin. Even the reunion of the two pilots who then remained best friends until their deaths.
