JADAM is famous for its low-cost organic farming techniques. Our goal is to produce a large quantity of healthy organic food in our backyard using inexpensive sustainable techniques. JADAM's DIY techniques are a perfect solution for our garden.
In this video, we make a 10-liter batch of JADAM Wetting Agent. This solution is used in conjunction with other JADAM homemade pesticides to control pests and diseases in the garden. It can also be used as a liquid hand soap or dish detergent.

You can learn directly from Youngsang Cho on JADAM's KZbin channel. He makes a large batch for a small farm. We scaled this down according to the directions in his book to make a small batch perfect for our needs.

I consider this to be one of the most valuable books in my library. Jadam Organic Pest and Disease Control amzn.to/3OoYnbt If you can't afford the book, visit their website at en.jadam.kr/ and read about it online.

A good option for people when other pesticides will no longer be available on the shelf. Not surprised the bucket was warm, that stuff is basically the potassium version of lye and reacts strongly with water and will give a nasty chemical burn if spilled on you, so be careful, treat it like you would drano, bleach or other strong household chemical you would come across, also good idea to do it outside for ventilation. One thing I think average ppl are not factoring into their SHTF plans are what's going to happen when farms and gardens around their area also stop spraying when its no longer available there will be a rebound in bug populations, so very good that you're showing ppl how to get this ready now!! Many Blessings and hope you're all better now^^

This is a liquid soap recipe. I'm a soapmaker and have both sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide in bulk as well as oils in bulk. This makes sense for me to make. But, for most people, it may be more cost effective to just buy some liquid soap in bulk. Liquid soap does work fabulously for pest control, though! Thanks for sharing 😊

That's what I was thinking as soon as I saw the ingredients. I think for most of us a small amount from a regular bottle of liquid soap would act fine as a surfactant for pesticides, or even some herbicide applications (after checking the labels).

Our biggest issues are squash beetles and rabbits/deer. The squash beetles I pick off and drop in soapy water, but finally had to get a spray because they were breeding so much faster than I could kill them, in huge numbers. THAT SAID, for rabbits and deer, I make a 'tea' out of hot water and red pepper flakes, strain the flakes, pour into spray bottle, dollap of dish soap so it sticks, and I spray it on plants.

I'm trying another organic recipe: 1L water, 2ml of liquid soap, 4ml Neem Oil. Wish me luck! Lost one of my acorn squash plant to borers. IDK how they got past my leaf inspection, but the proof is in the vine which withered in 24 hours. NOTE: Please apply this in late evening *after* the bees have left, and avoid the flowers. Save the bees! p.s. I'm spraying this directly on the eggs and pretty much the underside of all the leaves.

They use distilled water because the water has to be soft water. Very important for it's effectiveness. Just thought I'd mention because I just read that part in the book they listed.

Thanks for saying to use soft water, not tap water. The tap water can nullify the pesticide being used. I use our rain water- naturally soft.

We have had grasshoppers decimate our garden this year and last year. I have tried several things to try and control them and nothing has worked. It is very discouraging. One was an organic homemade garlic spray; one was neem oil and I even tried white flour- supposed to gum up their mouth so they can't eat the plants

So, it seems as though you're basically making a liquid soap with natural ingredients then diluting it a bit. I wonder if you could just get liquid, unscented Castile soap and use that as the wetting solution? :-)

@@terristucki7740 I add 1 Tablespoon of soap to 2 quarts of water. Always do a test spot to see how it will affect your plant. Put it in a sprayer and spray it right on the bugs. It only works when you coat the bugs. I go out every other day and check my plants for squash bugs and if I see any, I spray the bugswith the soapy water. I don't spray the whole plant. Good luck.

You can. I just watched the video. I will have to check the measurements given in my soap calculator. I prefer using coconut oil. A previous comment discussed the dangers of KOH (lye). I agree with that. With proper safety and research I will make my own. I plan to use some lemon or orange oil for dishes.

They basically are. They even list that in the description. The main reason this is a staple on the jadam system is that it's cost effective. Jadams methods are primarily for large scale farming but it can be scaled down as they mentioned. Doesn't make sense to buy liquid soap when you can make your own on a large scale for cheap.

I’m usually a fan of your videos, but people who are not experienced soap makers should not be telling others how to make soap and saying it’s easy and anyone can do it. There are serious safety considerations and simply saying safety first does not cover them. There was no mention of the volcano effect and how to avoid it. Your son may have been wearing gloves and safety goggles, but his arms were uncovered. Sodium hydroxide, caustic soda, will burn if it splatters onto skin. The paint stirrer without anything to shield him from splatters was dangerous too. And the recipe you gave mixes measurement units and uses volume. Soap ingredients must always be weighed, and you either use metric or imperial. Don’t mix them. Anyone who has bothered to read this and is thinking about making it, do more research first. There are many soap making channels on KZbin where you can learn proper safety with soap making. It’s important. Caustic burns are nasty. If you do it wrong and it volcanoes up into your face you’ll be disfigured for life. If you’re not up for doing the research and learning how to make soap properly and safely, then buy a bar of soap and grate it into a pot with a little water. Melt it, then dilute. Same outcome, no danger. I am very disappointed in this channel. I expected better.
