instead of serving 20 years, she should have been sentenced to therapy and group meetings with other survivors of DA. Why lock a woman like her up? That was pure laziness on our justice system's side.

At the most manslaughter but it should not have been murder. If people can stand their ground at a perceived threat, surely one can stand when there is an ongoing threat.

It's hard to explain abuse to people that didn't have to live that way. But I can see generational abuse in my family going back to my great-grandfather killing my great-grandmother. My grandmother ended up with an abuser because she tried to get away from an abusive foster parent. My mother ended up with several abusers so that it became normalized by her children. By the time I came along I knew the signs of physical abuse and (I was determined to avoid it by any means)so I was always on alert and I always had an exit strategy just in case. However that being said, I had no idea how to handle emotional abuse. I became a victim of that. I had no idea words and silence had the power to destroy just as effectively.

WHY DID LAURIE GENE SAY SHE WAS SORRY FOR HER ACTIONS WHEN ALL SHE DID WAS DISARM HER A-BUE-ZER?

I agree, This lady should not have to apologize for trying save her life from being abused for all those years, the courts should be apologizing to her. My question is what would they be saying when he had killed her. The court system of Louisiana and in many other states still have a long ways to go in reevaluating alongside changing these laws.

@@vegasmitch1472 Let me school you… God created the Garden of Eden. He asked man only one thing.. “Do not eat of this tree or you will surely die.” What did man do? He ate of that tree.. So began the fall of man.. But God didn’t just wash his hands of us.. He sent his son to the rescue to bring grace to the world, so all might be saved… For that one act of disobedience, evil was unleashed on the 🌎. Until God comes back and take possession of what’s his; we live by grace.. People are always so quick to sully the name of the creator, without ever really picking up a Bible and reading it in it’s entirety.. smh..

I really wonder why do these women wait so long to get help and to leave. Most wait until one of them is dead. This isn’t the first time, you know had let it go for too long. Five years, why didn’t she leave way before this. She knew that he wasn’t going to change or stop beating on you. Self Defense, you wait entirely to long. Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but 5 years, it was going to end in someone dead. Leave, leave, leave, but most of the time you wait until it’s too late and someone has died.

right, if all a woman has to do to get away with murdering a man is say that he physically abused her then every woman would know to do that to get away with murder...unless there is concrete physical evidence of history of physical abuse then no, we cannot just take her word for it...she could be lying, women can lie, anyone can lie.
