BEAUTIFUL knife! I agree with all you said about the quality of the knife and sheath. I've got one and I use it. For those who might not use it because of its price or looks, let me say that life is short...if you've got this knife, put it to work. Don't make things so precious that you fail to enjoy them while you can. Ignore all this if you've bought the knife simply to hold on to it for your descendants. Use it, enjoy it and appreciate the patina of work your adventures have put on it!

i've never once regretted buying two northern lights. Tor and idun, nl1 and nl5 respectively. They are a true beauty and feel so wonderful in hand during use. The edge tends to get tiny chips but a few strokes over strop brings her back to perfect.

Man this knife is a piece of art, I want one urgently, the convex edge is so wonderful...

I have been looking for the ultimate survival knife.In my opinion a survival knife MUST also be able to serve the role of fighting knife-You were the first to mention this & the fact that the size,weight & length of the NL2 & its sharp penetrating tip makes it the best of all the Fallkniven knifes in being able to fulfill this role!With reference to the Northern Light series I was fascinated that in addition to technology,qualities like hand made craftsmanship & use of natural materials=the BEST

Today, I modifed the sheath - moved the snap buckle down toward the fingers guard and put a paracord loop on the knife also double as 2nd strap to the sheath. Now I can carry Odin tip up/down/side or toss around w/o worrying about my digits. Hopefully Fallkniven would use cpm-m4 for its next gen knives. Cowry-X is just too darn expensive.

I am totaly geting this knife I've been looking at the A1 and S1 but this is beutifull I'm getting a custom made sheath so it holds a multi tool and sharpening stones thrue hedge hog leather works and I am so so excited to go camping and hiking with this masterpiece great video I watch it once a day just to tier over till I get mine

I bought an Odin 3 yrs ago. VG-10 laminated 420j stainless steel. Got a big chip on the edge belly from hidden rock - could be worse if not for a strong convex edge to stop the damage, still darn it! What I found bewildering was the sheath - it doesn't secure the knife from lift/prod up, hence cut myself multiple times - bleeding in the wood wasn't fun.

I have the NL2 Odin and the A1. I only have fixed blades. I own knives by Ka-Bar Cold Steel Gil Hibben Buck Schrade Esee Spartan Chris Reeve Aitor Gerber Boker SOG Benchmade Cudeman Ontario Knife Case Mossy Oak and MTech. Fallkniven is truly at the top of knife manufacturing.

Absolutely for use, no question of it. Fallkniven makes their knives for use. The dressy sheath may give the impression it is a drawer queen, and maybe it is more tuxedo than denim. You can always get a different sheath though, maybe canvas or ballistic nylon and then the knife would be right at home in the wilderness.

@nunya: Even me, I never used knives with a value of more than 200 $ when hunting or camping because I lost a lot of knives but I know that quality gears are essential for any survival plan and a quality knife is the main part of this quality gear. Survival is not only " camping" but a long term plan to stay alive when and where everything can kill you!

@omiss2006 It's a convex grind, so unless you have a belt sander and experience putting on an edge like that, you may want to take it to a knifemaker or send to the factory for resharpening. There are home made ways of sharpening a convex grind, such as with sanding paper and a mouse pad, but on this knife you probably would want the job done more professionally.

That is a very pretty knife, and even though the sheath looks well made it seems a little primative.

@ERICWAGNERSLUCID Not sure what SOG model you are referring to, but I don't think there is one in the SOG lineup I would take over this Fallkniven. Other good survival knives come from TOPS and ESEE, both can't be beat. Cold Steel Trailmaster and SRK are worth considering as well.

when i mean full tang is it a broad full tang or one of those thin wire or pencil like tangs? cause i know fallkniven is a good knife i own the S1 and A2 and my bro owns the A1 i'm very happy with them.
@themerrygambit14 жыл бұрын
@wwwknivestowncom I actually have a FallKniven A1 and it's really easy to put an edge back on it. All you need is a good set of sharpening stones. I chipped out the tip and the edge after using it to open a #10 can and I was able to put an edge back on it with just a single sharpening stone. And I suck at sharpening. Granted in the hands of someone who really knows what they are doing you're going to get it much sharper but I was still able to shave a tinder stick with it.

Fällkniven makes some awesome knives, when they are good they are some of the best on the market. However, Fällkniven isnt "one of those companies that goes the extra mile" in fact thier level of quality control is inexcusable at this pricepoint. And if you've ever had to deal with customer service you will most likely realize that they are both incompetent, rude and have a massive hybris. Make sure you buy from a reputable dealer with a good return policy if you buy a fällkniven. It doesnt matter if its a 4k knife or a 20k knife, if it cuts but looks like crap and has a crooked grind its concidered "acceptable" according to customer service. They should take a que from american companies like Leatherman, Gerber and Cold Steel, where customer satisfaction is a top priority.

Sorry I only want to say one more thing: It is 45 years I go outdoor for hunting or camping and often I see on KZbin videos of people who say how good are their 10 dollar survival knives.. they kow nothing about survival or camping. If they loose somewhere outdoor they will die the same day. Quality gear is the first thing to have outdoor if you want to survive and this knife is QUALITY gear
@e.macdonaldoutdoors782510 жыл бұрын
***** I agree that you can see very useful knives made from primitive materials; I've been in war zones and third world pissholes. I've used both, but come to my hunting camp (yes a "real" hunter!) and you'll see my Fallkniven Odin. If anyone gets this knife it will stand up to real every day tasks in the outdoors. Yea, of course we can get around in a "junker", but if you are fortunate enough to get a real "adventure vehicle"...you take care of it but ride it for all it's worth!!! "C'mon in...the water's fine!"
