Sam has been working and training really hard to become a better clean vocalist. I like that he gave it a shot on this one! I love the track. I just had to accept that Architects will never be the same since Tom passed. And they are pretty amazing still! Thanks for the reaction guys

@@Anthony-pq4vr In my opinion, the lyrics are the best element of the song, my problem lies mostly with the vocalist's voice. In my opinion it does not fit with the song and atmosphere at all. Vocals are definitely hit or miss, so if one enjoys the vocals this would be very different. I also believe the song is a little repetitive, and not a lot happens instrumentally. So, I'd say it's an ok song which way too overrated

I prefer Black Lungs over Animals all day long lol. I had to listen to Animals 2 or 3 times before I loved it. This track was instant love from the first listen.

@Daisy Dan I never said it wasn't. I love both songs. That definitely makes Animals more interesting though. I just prefer the style Black Lungs is going for, and that's why, for me, it's the better song. However... that doesn't make the Animals bad. It's a preference thing. My preference changes all the time. I could wake up one day, and decide that I prefer Animals over Black Lungs. As of now though, Black Lungs is what I'm into the most

Dan is the main lyricist. To my knowledge he wrote all the lyrics in holy hell excluding the 3 songs Tom wrote before he passed so I imagine dan wrote everything on this album as well

I agree with them. I was hooked right away on the first listen of Animals. Idk just something about the simple chugs and the line "should I just pull the pin" with his new style of singing. But for this, I needed like 5 listens to fully get into the chorus cause like wyat said it's quite wordy. But that breakdown all the way to the end is amazing tho!

Josh Middleton doing back vocals in this one, but yes that is also one of Sam Carter's voices he can pull out. That dude has such a large vocal range and can easily diverse dynamics in his singing, even during live performances. For example, you can hear Sam has done a lot of clean vocal parts in Architects' old stuff that precedes LF//LT.

Checked here daily for this! For me, I preferred this to animals but I still loved animals. I don’t know what it is, but the variety and aggression felt different and I loved it. But then again I love everything Architects put out there

I was so curious to hear your thoughts about this new track! Funny though, because for me it was the other way around: I didn't really feel Animals the first few times, but it REALLY grew on me. I immediately liked Black Lungs from the get-go, and I came to absolutely love it after a handful of plays.

The way you mentioned Parasite Eve growing on you was EXACTLY the same way I felt with this song. After a few listens, I fell in love with it. It's different from their old stuff, but I'm excited to hear what else they have in store for us. If you haven't watched it yet, Chris Turner (drummer of Oceans Ate Alaska)'s drum video of "40 Roll" is nuts. Would love to see a drummer's reaction to that one :D

The song is call out for humanity to “examine the role we are currently playing in the destruction of the world with barren landscapes, and foreshadowing of extinction” which is one of the main themes of this new record as the band stated it’ll focus on: “…the part we are all playing in the world’s slow destruction, and tackle the biggest questions facing the future of our planet” Basically what the song is about and the rest of the album
