I can't recommend Tuska enough: - A mall right next to the venue for cheaper food that also plays metal on the intercom during the festival - Lovely people, some of the best pit etiquette I've seen - A good mix of lineups - Every major hotel is within a half hour distance of the festival with public transit Edit: there's also gravel and concrete, so no mud!
@necroplastful6 ай бұрын
Also something extremely important, Tuska takes place on concrete. I dont mind the rain but mud is in my eyes absolute aids some people love it, i despise it. Thats one of the reasons why I dont ever wanna go to Wacken.

not a multi day festival, but as a 105 pound 14 year old kid, sick new world was awesome. watched kublai khan, paleface, loathe, trash talk, baby metal, alice in chains, danny elfman, slipknot, and soad. i’d say about 70% of the time i was right on the edge of a mosh pit where proof would slam into me every few seconds, but everyone was super nice and i didn’t get hurt and i had a great time, especially for my first metal festival
@yuna67056 ай бұрын
My first multi-day metal festival was Summer Breeze (Dinkelsbühl, Germany) last year and I really enjoyed it and I think it definitely works well as a "beginner" big festival because it got like 4 stages, 3 of them being on the actual festival ground and one in the caming area, which makes it quite easy to navigate but also gives it enough variety, would recommend :)

I was aware of it the first few years, had wanted to eventually go, ended up going on with life and got sidetracked with Summer Slaughter Tour, remembered about MDF and searched it up because of this video, and was shocked that not only are they still going, they've expanded to a global scale. Had a friend that lived out that way that I had planned on going with, though I doubt I'll ever talk to him again.

See people mentioning Copenhell in Denmark, but I would also also add Jailbreak to that, a smaller Festival on the other side of Denmark which is being hosted in former prison, it's usually quite well organized with smaller crowd and only lasting 2 days, but also very positive and welcoming which I think is great for beginners
@d.christophertatum29366 ай бұрын
Thanks for the shoutout to ProgPower USA. However, there is really only one stage so attendees don’t have to pick between bands. Some special shows use the upstairs venue during the day before the main event starts in the afternoon. But when I saw the topic of this video, ProgPower was my first thought. It is a remarkably comfortable event.

My first metal festival was 2018 Rock on the Range (before it was changed to Sonic Temple). The thing I remembered the most was the total feeling of lawlessness and people just absolutely loosing themselves in the partying and the music. People were absolutely packed on top of each other. For a 16 year old kid, I had never seen anything like it. The people themselves are enough to get me back to the festivals. An incredible time.

Like Inferno it is in Oslo, but up on the Ekeberg field, a huge field that overlooks the city, but is a short bus-ride away from hotels and comforts. Another fest on the power metal side of things that's good for beginners is mad with power in madison, WI. One stage, in doors, middle of major city and they give you a food/game break. Also surprised you didn't bring up any of the fests in vegas. If it ever come back, psycho, sick new world, when we were young( ok, wwwy not exactly metal but i'd consider it adjacent.) You can do those as cheap or extra as you want. I think this year is it's last year? Another fest on the metalcore/hardcore side of things furnace fest in Birmingham AL is a good one for beginners as well. Major city, easy to get to and not rediculous expensive.

I am attending my first major multi day festival this year at Copenhell. I practically live right next to it and have wanted to attend for a couple of years, but haven’t been able to go all 4 days due to school. This year I promised myself that I was going all 4 days no matter what bands are playing and how many exams I have. I didn’t listen to any of the bands on the lineup when they got announced, but now I have several bands on the lineup I would consider myself a fan of and I can’t wait to see all of them. Thank you for making this video Wyatt and hope you get a chance to come to Copenhell with dark insanity in one of the upcoming years🤘🏼

To add a few festivals for fans of Doom, Sludge and Stoner Metal I'd recommend Maryland Doom Fest in Frederick, Desertfest (which has, I believe, four locations, NYC, Antwerp, London and Berlin) and for somehing that's a little more Multi-Genre (as in it's also a pretty good Punk and Country/Rockabilly Fest that just happens to have some great bands on it.) Muddy Roots down in Tennessee.

Would definitely recommend New England Metal and Hardcore Festival. 2 days, Mix of established bands, up and coming bands, and underground bands. The lineup is usually more metalcore, deathcore and hardcore, but it has had Megadeth, Shadows Fall, and Anthrax in the past. It's in the city with plenty of hotels nearby and the food and drinks are Moderately priced. Definitely worth checking out.

I also recommend Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Transylvania, Romania. It was my first ever festival and I also went solo, it was great and not too crowded. It's getting bigger and better each year with an amazing lineup this year!!! The guy who's behind it all already mentioned how next year it's going to be even better since he already has a couple of headliners confirmed. It's also pretty cheap compared to other European festivals. The festival position is also amazing in my opinion, it is in Rasnov which is a small city near Brasov in Transylvania it's truly great. And it's just a couple of train stops away from Dracula's castle! A few of the bands headlining this year are Behemoth, Amon Amarth, Kreator, Suicidal Tendencies, DEP, Saxon, Hatebreed, Exodus and many others.
