Everything you buy should be seen as an investment. Food, clothes, board games, and yes tables. The fact that the table can grow as you grow gaming, makes it worth every penny right out the gate. One thing I have to remind people when they get sticker shock about anything is this. You have three options. Good, Fast, and Cheap. You can have it Fast and Cheap but it won't be good. 😥 You can have it Good and Fast, but it won't be Cheap. 🤔 So I would say start basic and add to it slowly with accessories. I think you made a very wise purchase and hope you enjoy many meals and games at this table.

Love the MGT, but one of my main concerns is the lack of horizontal space with the toppers off, I would prefer a smaller vault area if it meant a wider arm rest area where papers/ laptops could rest. How do you feel about needing an add on desk just to have space when in gaming mode?
@annerichmond2 жыл бұрын
I think it's definitely a valid concern. My players are typically working off of laptops and paper pads or writing in notebooks in their lap. They keep their dice, minis, and any physical sheets in the vault. That being said if you're someone who likes to use a notebook on the table or have food that you don't want in the vault that is definitely something to consider. When the next kickstarter comes, I'll definitely invest in some more player desks to make sure everyone is comfortable. I think I'd be uncomfortable if i had to get up constantly to reach into the vault over a thick outside. That would also be weird for board gamers as well. So yeah, the design has ups and downs and comes down to preference and comfort.
@timperkins45472 жыл бұрын
To add on, I think it's also possible to leave part of the topper on at one of the far ends if you didnt get one of the accessories like the player desk or the Game Deck. I intend on doing that for my DM space when mine finally shows up
@sindex2 жыл бұрын
@@timperkins4547 I'll say a single topper will not give you enough "DM" space if you combo a screen and a laptop (at least it doesn't for me), so plan for two topper sections. Also the topper will slide every time you bump it without the rest of them in place. Many people buy 1 or 2 inch wide and 1/16 inch thick neoprene pads to adhere to the underside of the toppers. This serves two purposes - 1 - it keeps the toppers from potentially scratching the surface/arm rest area, and 2 - keeps the "DM" toppers from sliding around when you do exactly what you're talking about. I absolutely LOVE my table, but the vault space is definitely weird/uncomfortable for certain games. But it sure makes a kickass board game storage place and puzzle area.
@timperkins45472 жыл бұрын
@sindex I thought that might be the case, the neoprene is a good idea though, I'll have to try that when mine finally comes in :) I would have just gotten a Game Deck, but I ordered in Wargaming size and they weren't offering it in that size. The player desk also seems way too small for my DM gear.

Welcome to the Baby Bards. The width is as described, but I also measured out my space before choosing the size. It’s got enough for the player table and a little extra for the cup holders and placing minis on the edge. I’ll also say a good sense of measurement is that it comfortable tables a DM screen. Hopefully that helps!

@DDrawer662 жыл бұрын
Here's something that I have been struggling with when deciding if I should jump in on the next Kickstarter for an MGT. I'm not hating on the table at all either, I really really want to get one. Like you, I primarily play D&D (not many other board/tabletop games) on my table. But the first thing I think is, I need a player desk or a game deck so I can setup my laptop, notepad, and dm screen. And then what will my players do with their devices/accessories/dice, maybe they'll need a player desk too. Then I just start to think why am I getting a vaulted table only to try to avoid using the vault? I don't use mini's either (I just project digital maps with tokens). What are your thoughts on that? I'm thinking it's just not the right table for me unfortunately.
@annerichmond2 жыл бұрын
If you’re not using the vault for maps and accessories the only cool thing is getting the screen insert and there are other tables that are perhaps set up for that a bit better.

Pardon the long response. Your table looks awesome and I'm happy you will enjoy it for years to come. Would love to see a Prophecy owner discuss the same question. Was it worth it? In their case they are paying 2.5K-3.5K in shipping and likely getting the white glove treatment. I love the angles of the Prophecy but the total cost with accessories is a hard pill to swallow for getting the Colosseum curves. The modular for most is exactly the right compromise. For me, especially since I watched most of their videos, waiting for them to iron out all the processes from the first KS campaign makes me more open to the next campaign. That said given enough transparency around the Prophecy process I might one day determine that that table is also worth the investment. That said I'm not convinced that the used Wyrmwood table is going to increase in value as a heirloom furniture piece (especially the Prophecy). Its too soon to tell... sometimes it even depends on the manufacturers stopping production of new furniture in order for their older furniture to go up in value. I think Wyrmwood is here to stay so it just depends on overall inflation in the materials and labor. During covid wood prices skyrocketed so I suppose if you were a Prophecy owner and wanted to sell your table into that mess you might have been able to make a profit. I don't think any owners did that though. The other thing to consider is that unlike many "heirloom" pieces of furniture a gaming table is going to get heavy heavy use so perhaps your table may not start out "rustic" after a couple of decades of guests over (many with sharp objects) it will get there after inevitable scratching, denting, and so forth ensues. Thus the extra expense of a Prophecy table makes that inevitability a little cringeworthy. Your guests may not even feel comfortable gaming on a 30k-60k table....perhaps even less comfortable if you pull out your limited edition War of the Rings to the table. Oh did I mention the likelihood of chair(chair arms especially) to table collisions also might be a source of denting? While I love the idea of various Wyrmwood colors used for the chairs I have no sense of confidence regarding chair ergonomics or comfort to game for 12-14 hour weekend sessions. So even though the modular table is cheaper you might envision replacing it after 30 years with another (or buying a 2nd one when you upsize your home to include a gaming room and a dining room) compared to not being to excited about replacing a Prophecy table after heavy use. Yes the modular is cool but owing a complete POS ikea $100 table that I use fearlessly for all manner of things that damage the table I struggle with my reaction to my first scratch or dent to a Wyrmwood table, especially if I get a fancy wood like Bolivian Rosewood(Prophecy) or Purpleheart (still not sure about that color on an entire table) both of which amaze me among many other amazing choices. The custom designs they offer on a Prophecy to personalize the table also seem amazing. The wheel thing adding about 2k to the price of a Wyrmwood Prophecy seems a bit overdone but certainly gives them the uniqueness to stand out. I would love to see them partner with Secret labs or some other gaming chair manufacturer of a modern gaming chair just to put the wrymwood logo on the chair and call it a day. Yes the office chairs do tend to demand more space allocation so you have to be careful compared to the wooden chairs and the fact you can raise and lower arms can create collision issues with these chairs when sit down or get up out of them. Also looming might be if major furniture suppliers get into the board game table market. Do they have the economy of scale to cause trouble to Wyrmwood. Clearly Wyrmwood is trying to get there first with modular and scale with demand. Do they wake some sleeping giants with their success and lead to their acquisition or defeat? I think they have a pretty loyal following among board game fans but there are masses of people who seem to only buy their games at Target and Walmart (and so forth) that might buy a Walmart or Crate and Barrel board game table if it ever shows up... and this customer base can actually be gigantic. Its super cool to see Wyrmwood lead the way, I'm just not sure what the future will bring for them the more the world wakes up to this as a required household item. I grew up with a gaming booth in the basement similar to the booths you would sit down in a 50s diner. I'm not even sure that chairs are the right approach given that I actually prefer the booth feel. I would love to see Wyrmwood design some modular choices around the idea that you might have one edge of your able up against a wall or perhaps offer a corner booth table option. I'm not even sure that corner booth tables have a unique shape but they might. Does having one edge up against a wall change anything anyway for the modular design? Is it more realistic to think of it as hybrid where you still surround the wyrmwood table with a booth but leave both ends open. Not sure I've ever seen anyone combine a Wyrmwood table within a booth structure. I would love to see the attempt. I don't recall if Wyrmwood offered the hexagon style table but I totally understand that certain games would thrive on the board table structure that makes it harder for you to see everyone else's cards in their hand. Quackalope pointed out the combo of having 2 styles of gaming tables the traditional recectangle and a hex or octagon shape as well. For larger accommodating houses I think it is great to have multiple choices to pick the one that suits the game. Hence their coffee table options for a few games played in the living room. My dream of course is to just join a mentally active retirement community where they have 1500 games in a common club house (24x7) with many gaming table choices. Just like every board game convention figuring out where the missing piece belongs is a total pain in the ...Alternatively the public library ditches its physical inventory of movies, music, and books for digital collections and frees its space allocation in favor of becoming our gaming community hub.

Thanks for the video. You got a sub out of it! I have been wanting a table for a while now but the price of Wyrmwood makes it so hard for me. I completely believe it is worth the price but I can't justify it and I play a lot plus have a YT channel of my own. So something like this would see use. But I am also married with a couple of kids and just have a lot of expenses. I also choose to put my money into my D&D books. I do want to perhaps build a table of my own. I know I can make something great though I probably wouldn't get to use the same amazing rare wood that Wyrmwood uses or have some of the modular ability that they have. I find that inside/outside rail system to be fantastic and I don't know if I could reproduce it. The addon mat that you have your laptop on there solves a huge issue with many gaming tables of not having a space for books and accessories around that narrow border when the tops are off. Overall I think the Wyrmwood seems very well designed and of amazing quality. I just think that its out of the price range of the majority of gamers out there. You never did mention how much you paid overall, just price points of some of the accessories. Curious what your final price was. Once again, great video!

I think the important question is "is it worth the wait"

For me: absolutely. This is a staple piece that absolutely changed gaming life and frankly - just life in the apartment since we can entertain now with a beautiful table.

As a note, no. It is not going "for sale" after the Kickstarter. They'll be doing another Kickstarter this summer, likely towards August is what they said in a recent video. They don't tend to make anything outside of normal dice vaults "for sale", because that takes up space to store things. They like Kickstarters because they know EXACTLY how much they need to make, how much money they're bringing in so they know what they can spend on better equipment to get the job done more efficiently while still growing, etc.

Just saw that video yesterday. I am excited to place an order for some more accessories! Thought they might have it for sale at some point simply cause the Prophecy is.
@zidanewaterflower2 жыл бұрын
@@annerichmond Yes, except that the Prophecy is "for sale" in the sense that it's a *pre-order* sale. It's available for purchase at any time because of the sheer amount of time it takes for them to make one. They're like individual kickstarters, in essence. They make a profit off MGT through sheer number orders. Doug and the company feel that having lots of inventory is a bad thing because it's money they've invested that isn't providing anything, and the fact it takes up room that they could be using to produce other things actually turns it into a negative asset. Granted, they might prove me wrong in the future, but there's reasons why they do what they do. (Would certainly make things easier for ME trying to order a table, but alas...)

I spent way too much on just their first dice Kickstarter. I couldn't put in on the table. Pandemic hurt the wallet.

I get it. I just saw my Dispel dice we’re on their way today and I cannot WAIT to see them in person.

i have the table of ultimate gaming and its just too big. It's too wide and too tall!! it was made to play warhammer standing up and its much too high to sit at and eat at. I need a board gaming that is smaller. i dont do dnd just board games and im thinking this looks like its dimensions are better. im just so worried on spending the money just to get another table thats not right!
@annerichmond2 жыл бұрын
I put the dimensions in the video so def measure your space and think about how this would fit if you plan on backing the next Kickstarter.

What!? No water test... let see you spill water on the top and the magic that goes in to stoping the water from reaching the insides
@annerichmond2 жыл бұрын
I believe Wyrmwood did that test on their channel already.

i guess if i has money to BURN i would buy this luxury, but IMO the money would be better spent on gaming books, terrain and other supplies.

Hahahaha I mean. The title is “review” a not how to build the table. ;)

@@annerichmond i mean review it showing the table for 10minutes. Not that pretty face. Title should state post ownership review 6 months or something slicker to that affect. Idk nm

Make friends with a woodworker. They’ll be able to make more cup holders for you for $30 apiece while taking in $20 profit from each one.

It’s all about investment. But I also am aware that it’s not attainable for some folks so I feel lucky to be able to get one.
