These bars embody the great taste of apple pie but without all of the work! The crust and streusel mixture are made as one, complimenting the apples between them. Versatile as a snack or dessert, these bars are a perfect way to showcase the fruit of the fall, all without the pie!

00:09:41 - Perfect Apple Streusel Bake
INGREDIENTS
For the granola crust:
- 2 3/4 cups rolled oats
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 16 tbsp unsalted butter cold and cut into small pieces
For the apple pie filling:
- 4 apples (such as Braeburn, Honeycrisp, or Pink Lady)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 10x14 baking pan and set it aside.
For the crust:
- In a large bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, white granulated sugar, cinnamon, and kosher salt.
- Add the cubes of cold butter and toss with the dry ingredients. Work the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles wet sand with some pea-sized pieces of butter. Reserve 2 cups of the prepared crust and set it aside.
- Press the remaining crust into a 10x14 pan (also called a jelly roll-size pan). Firmly and evenly press the crust, making sure to press the crust mixture up the sides of the pan. Bake the crust for 15 minutes. Once baked, remove it from the oven and set aside to cool.
For the filling
- Prepare the filling by coring and thinly slicing the apples. In a large bowl, combine the prepared apples, flour, white granulated sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, and allspice. Stir until well combined, then pour the mixture onto the baked crust.
- Spread the apples out into an even layer, overlapping as needed to fit all the apples. Sprinkle on the reserved 2 cups of prepared crust topping. Bake in the 350°F preheated oven until the apples are tender, 35-45 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool one hour before enjoying them!

From my farm to your home. 🏡
My name is Kaleb Wyse and here, you will find delicious recipes, videos from my farm, garden, and fun home projects. My knowledge has been earned from years of home cooks and farmers in my family. wyseguide.com
A farm is much more than a house to live in; it’s a lifestyle. My passion for gardening and landscaping came from outdoor work with my mom in our expansive farm yard, my love for baking came from innumerable short walks to my grandma’s house to make cookies, and as a farmer, my dad taught me that we are the stewards of our land.
So whether you live in a city center or have decided rural life is for you, I hope to inspire you with the projects and recipes I use in daily life. We can’t all live on a farm, but we all need farms in our lives. From the dirt in my vegetable garden to the flour in my kitchen, I’ll show you everything I love to do.

@WyseGuide Hello, I planted some acorn squash seeds but a couple of plants grew something that looks like the pumpkin shape behind you, but mine are shaped more like a tear drop, same color and has those warts/ bumps, sure was surprising finding them🥴. I tried a bit to look it up & I've seen pictures but couldn't find specific info on it, I've assumed it's a gourd. Would you please tell me the name of it and is it edible? Looking forward to trying these bars😋

@@karenhasel9908 Definitely not Kuri or buttercup, I do love them both though😉Theres still a couple I left outside on a plant, they grew bigger and more round, they look just like the one on his counter, I think it's a gourd but I haven't found the name and I didn't cook any of them. Thanks for the response.

I learned a trick for combining butter with dry flour mix. Freeze the butter for 1-2 hrs . . then use the large hole grater . . and it's easier to mix into the dry mix. I am a bit leery of using whole slices and might try coarse chopping my apples for this recipe. Can't wait to try it.

I tried it and would second your idea on chopping the apples. Also I think the bottom crust got a little too done and it was kind of hard at first but the next day(s) it got softer. Enjoy! Fun recipe, I will definitely be making it again. 😋

Plus its not as thick a deep dish. To me it's more like of a rectangle tart & prefect.. I'll definitely be making more of these during this holiday season. I was introduced to a lovely spice mix while doing some bread making and also making mincemeat for the holidays. Folks in the UK call it British Mixed Spice Blend. It has the following ground spices. Cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, mace, ginger, cloves, and coriander. When a recipe calls for cinnamon, I will also add a couple of teaspoons of the British Mixed Spice Blend. It just warms up the flavors and baths you in Fall. Great recipe. We are big apple crisp fans. I am sure our family will love this. Thanks for sharing.
