just found your video, i'm wondering if you know or if the manual states how many finger prints you can add, thanks!
@BigCVlogs10 ай бұрын
So the app says "each user can add 1 code and up to 5 finger prints". It's doesn't say a limit on the amount of users tho. I have 3 users setup. My guess would be 5-10 would be the user limit.

From the website: Create and store up to 20 access codes for family and guests, without manually programming each one into the lock. You can also store up to 50 total fingerprints for frequent users.

if youre on android and cant get this to pair, i randomly lucked out by doing this: turn BT off and back on then back off put lock in pairing mode (3 second button press on lock) turn BT back on while lock is in pairing mode this might help- as it seemed to get it after like 10 unsuccessful tries the other way

Nice! I've always seen that disabling mobile data helps with a lot of Wyze products and the setup.

What happens if it malfunctions or the batteries die while the door is locked? Does it come with a back up key or are you just locked out?
@BigCVlogs Жыл бұрын
So this lock has a USB C port on the bottom. You can plug in a USB C cable to your phone to give the deadbolt enough juice to get you in the door to replace the batteries. It also gives you plenty of notifications before it dies. I've had this lock for over a year now and I'm still on the same set of batteries from the day I bought it and it's on my main door so it's used a few times per day. It has been a great lock. The best I've used so far besides $250+ smart locks.

Can I unlock the door remotely with the app? Or I have to stay within the Bluetooth range?

You have to be within Bluetooth range for that to work.

This one has a small USB port on the bottom. You can plug in to get a boost to unlock the door. It will also tell you before the battery dies. I love it, so fast.

No to be a party pooper, but as a locksmith, I really DON'T recommend these. In the past week I've taken off two AirBnbs that had them. The problem was exactly as you described; the lock wouldn't open and there was no manual key override. Police broke a kitchen window on one unit to get the guests back in. $1300 repair. They can pick the lock and get you in in minutes. People think the only thing that can go wrong is batteries dying. Electronics bug out, plastic servo motors break from the sun beating on the door, circuits get messed up. Don't buy a lock like this without a manual key override. The other big issue that none of these vloggers talk about is strike misalignment. The latch and strike will eventually get out of alignment. Happens on every home and business in the world. Buildings settle, heat swells wood, freezing contracts it. When the strike and latch become misaligned, it often happens so slow you don't notice. Then one day, it might be you can't retract the strike. The batteries still have a little juice, but not enough to power weak little plastic servos to drag metal on metal and retract your strike. Also, this is a grade 3 residential lock, the lowest grade. Spend your money on a grade 2 like the b560 or even a grade 1 like the b660. People will say "but a manual key override can be picked." Yes, but that's not 95% of break-ins. Also, a locksmith can put a high security or restricted keyway cylinder in your lock making it virtually impossible to pick. Yes, there are a handful of locksport pickers/locksmiths in the world who can pick a primus, for example. But if you're actually worried about this handful of people stopping by your house and picking a high-security cylinder, you're worried about the wrong thing. Spend your money on a good manual deadbolt, keep a few spare keys around, and spend your extra money on reinforcing your door, frame, and strike. Lastly, this is Wyze. Even without their recent hack, they're not exactly known for quality, security, locks, or customer service. They have a decent camera. Support a better local company and get better security. Just my ramblings....hope it helps.

@@kevinwitt8827 Kinda disagree on all counts. For starters, most houses have these things called windows all over the place. Windows are very easy to break. It's very easy to get in your house without ever touching a deadbolt. Heck many doors have windows positioned such they can be broken and a criminal could simply reach through the broken window and turn the door bolt themselves. My back door is this way. For me, I have a front door, and also a side door through the garage secured with garage door opener (no deadbolt, just a knob lock), and back door in fenced backyard with keyed bolt. So I always have multiple keyed ways in. This Wyze lock will only go on the front door. And I'm not sure what window repair costs $1300 unless the window is made of gold lol. So for me this lock will just be about convenience. Mainly the ability to give family etc passcodes or use a code instead of a key myself. I also want the ability to unlock the front door for visitors (after verifying their identity with my doorbell cam and other security cameras mounted around the house of course, aint tech grand!)without getting my lazy butt off the couch. sadly I'm not sure this lock allows that as it doesnt have alexa integration or wifi, I'm sure you can do it with the bluetooth app, but I may not always have my phone in reach from the couch whereas I can always yell at alexa. However the flip side is I have alexa in my kitchen theoretically an intruder if they knew or suspected this, could yell through the door window and tell alexa to unlock, obviously thats a security risk too. So I'm not 1000% sure I do want alexa support. I do agree with getting a reinforced strike plate and 3" deck screws into studs. I have already done that. That is a cheap and easy method to increase security IMO, that will help this Wyze lock too. Per the discussion about windows above, I think one of the easiest and most dangerous ways for an intruder to bust in is a burly man kicking your door in. Anything that makes him take 2-3 kicks instead of 1 is great IMO. So that gets back to the whole point of locks and security IMO, theyre too warn you and slow the intruder down, because none are foolproof. I am a 2nd amendment enthusiast and anyone breaking into my home will not find a warm welcome LOL, that's much truer security than "pick proof deadbolt" (But easy to kick in door, big windows all over the house etc). Although of course, all forms of security are helpful dont get me wrong. So to recap I'm getting this Wyze because it's $70, it's cool, it allows me to give passcodes to family or anyone i wish, and fun tech toy to play with. I have multiple other keyed ways in the house, so i am not worried about it suddenly giving out. A far as batteries giving out, it both warns you and has the USB backup port if worst came to worst so that seems very unlikely to be an issue. As far as strike misalignment well, I have lived in my house 12 years and not suffered it yet, so I kinda am not too worried for myself. So that leaves the motor/gears giving out, which sure could happen, but is unlikely for many years and as I've already detailed, I have plenty of options.

In regards to being able to set codes , are you able to create/set that code when you're away from home? For example, if someone needs to get in, but I have no code setup, can I create one while away from home, and then they can use it? Or do the codes have to be created when within Bluetooth distance?
@BigCVlogs2 жыл бұрын
So i want to try this for myself, because Wyze "says" you can create a "One time access code"... but since the lock does not have Wi-Fi, it makes no sense how someone would be able to set that code without being at the lock in bluetooth range. For this reason, I went ahead and made a "Guest Code" that I could give someone to avoid an issue. That way it is already set and ready to go, and I could just send them that code and then remove it once I was back at home. Wyze is not very clear on that "One time access code".
@emblemboy2 жыл бұрын
@@BigCVlogs yeah, that's what got me curious as well. How does the one time code get to the unit if there's no wifi. Unless that one time code is a Wyze generated code, rather than one you create? But yeah, when I get mine I'll just go ahead and make that guest code profile.
@No0o0o0o0o02 жыл бұрын
The "one time code" is generated like the authenticator/rsa token apps you would use for signing into google, work vpns etc. Wyze will create an 8 digit random code, When the lock is paired to the app it uses the phone/tablet time and some encryption to make a code in the background. This code expires every 4 hours but you can make it and send it anywhere. It works well. You DO NOT need to be in bluetooth range and wifi (it does not have wifi) is not needed either. The only thing I can think that would throw off the onetime password would be the battery running out or some other freak occurrence(someone on the inside removes the batteries) since the lock needs to keep the time for it to work. This is unlikely since you would know the battery is low from the indicator light long before it runs out and someone on the inside is well.....inside already.

@BigCVlogs2 жыл бұрын
You can plug in a USB cable from the lock, to your phone to give it a boost and unlock. But the Wyze app will also tell you when the batteries are low. So as long as you swap them when you get that notification, you should be good.

@@roberttouro If you had a lock and forgot your key, and had to call a locksmith to open the door, it'll probably cost you about $75. If you go down to walmart and pick up a cheap battery bank and USB C cable, it'll cost you about $20 to $30 . If you have one in the car, well, $0 additional .. If you have an electrical outlet near the door, you could also use a USB brick. I haven't mentioned walking over to the neighbor and borrowing one either. My plan is simpler however; I plan on putting one on the front door and one on the back door. The batteries will die at a different rate, so when one dies, the other will likely still work. Interesting idea to try to use a cell phone. gotta try it and see if it works.

Good review BigC. I ordered mine from Walmart because of 2-day air. Wyze charges $10 shipping so price comes out about the same, but takes longer to arrive, and Amazon ships like a month later. Anyway, I installed it this past weekend and it's working like a charm. My family loves the fingerprint feature - so fast to unlock! I upgraded from a 5-yr-old Schlage Connect smart deadbolt. It uses Z-wave Wi-Fi but it's flaky at times. I don't think I ever had to unlock the door remotely for anyone during that period, lol. I already ordered 2 more of these for family members and telling friends about it. Only other Wyze products I have are Wyze cam v3 and they're awesome in low lighting.

I'm not sure about that... A deleted account would remove all devices. You should be able to factory reset it from the pin hole and set it up under a different account. Not 100% sure tho, never tested it.
