Wyze Sense Setup and First Impressions
I'm not there on a final decision, but it seems like Wyze Sense is a great buy when you consider the fact that you can buy this set and then combine it with a $20 USD Camera. What you get with the Wyze Sense starter kit is a bridge, 2 contact sensors, a motion sensor, some stickers, and a little "pin" that you use to reset the devices.
I'll get the devices set up and give you my first impressions of them and how they'll perform. We'll obviously continue with a series of videos about Wyze Sense, how they can be used, and I'm sure we'll see a few issues here and there.

These wyze products are great, been using them for almost 2 years now and I'm very happy with all of the products. The rest of my family (especially the grand kids) do not shut the freezer door all the way sometimes, I put a door sensor on it and now if it's left open for more than 5 minutes (you can set your own time limit) I get an alert to my phone that it has been left open and now all of my ice will not freeze together in one big block.

It is a really great package. I am still amazed of the size of the total packaging, which is about les than a regular smart bulb, for a camera, 2 door sensors, 1 motion sensor, a charger and a cable ! So tiny I was wondering if I received everything !

I just got my camera and sensor pack this morning. Setting up was very easy. The next step is to do something with IFTTT. I want a light to come on here when my mailbox door is opened. Either a Sengled bulb or a smart life app controlled smart plug.

Super idea! You should be able to get things to trigger off the Wyze sensors. I have the triggers there for the sensors. :)

@@mlixelplix Hi Eric. I had success in making my mailbox "smart". First I found that the distance at 50' (15m) worked fine. I didn't check further away, as that distance met my requirements. My plastic mailbox is closer than that. I used IFTTT to connect the Wyze with a TP-Link (kasa app) smart plug, in which a light was plugged in to it. I had to set up a "scene" with that one smart plug and after that, everything fell into place. I hope more IFTTT recipes start showing up. When the door is opened, that turns on the light. Nothing happens upon closing. I tell my Google Home to turn off that switch, which resets my triggered device. I hope your setup works as well as mine. Tomorrow is my first mail day use.

Dave, that's a great implementation of the sensors. Great idea. I have yet to implement my idea yet. I'm currently bedridden so all my great ideas have to wait a bit. However, I love all these ideas. All of these devices help me see beyond the confines of my bedroom, so new ideas are a welcome sight for me.

As always great video my friend. This is a prime example of a video that could use a forum. I also love that you can pick up the motion sensor for $5.99 separately (once you have the hub that you plug into the camera) I look forward to seeing what amazing things you are doing to with these. So you mentioned you played hockey, in college? I want to hear more in...say in a "about me video"?!?!?!?! Anyways, Wyze and Google are my front runners for home automation in my home.

Good video review, very nice piece(s) of kit. Also good to see you supporting other 'tubers over the Nest fiasco. Maybe you and Paul Hibbert can get together to campaign for the release of Wyze over here in Europe/UK. At these prices the whole market would take a quantum leap. Price and privacy concerns are the main stumbling blocks over here and Wyze seem to be moving in the right direction on both.

Many people says that after a while these don't work anymore. I'm hesitant about buying wyze sense. So what can you say about that? Do you recommend them after all this time? Do these gets disconnected often? Are they still working? I'd really appreciate your reply

So I haven't had the major issues that others have and they're still working here. There are many complaints, but I find it's almost always bad networking causing it!

Thanks! It's not so much the mic that matters, it's the method of recording and the recorder. The mic is actually an extremely inexpensive one that I couldn't even find online anymore. The recorder is this: amzn.to/2WmOmAr (affiliate link). What's also important is how close it is to me, how dead my room is to reverb (and the little I allow), and how low I have the gain. I hope this helps you refine!

Sadly, those motion sensors aren't working well and Wyze has discontinued them...so I think you talk to their support team

I just received mine and didn’t see any stickers in the box. I wonder if they stopped doing that? I was able to setup mine in home assistant and create automations to activate lights controlled by Shelly switches. It all works quickly and reliably.

Automate Your Life it’s actually very easy to setup sensor in home assistant. First install HACS ( home assistant community store). Then use that to add the Wyze sense integration. Lastly run the service to learn a new sensor. And voila a new device badge shows up.

This is new to me. Thanks for the info. Will the motion sensor work through glass window and what distance? Will you show setting this system in an automobile. I have an old blazer type vehicle i would like to monitor. Im imagining camera set inside looking out; i know that part works. Thanks!!😊😎🏁

Sadly, PIR sensors aren't going to work outside of the glass most times. You can try, but it's likely it won't work. Protect the inside and I think you'll have high accuracy and reliability with the PIR motion sensor. As for the camera, ya you'll have to decide whether you want the IR Light or not and how that might go for you! When I've tried it, I don't mind leaving it off. Most times the lighting is bright enough in cities to capture people.

I like my Wyze cam and Wyze pan. But...I can't seem to find a way to change the notification alert sound. (iOS) I've read in the past there has not a way and many people expressed the need for that feature. I just bought mine a week ago and wondering if there is any work around or if it's now possible to change the motion alert tone? Thank you so much for your work!

Hi fantastic video again it’s a shame they don’t sell these in the United Kingdom I am gutted about that. Just booked my holiday in September to go to the US will be buying a couple off wyze cam v2 and starter pack over they definitely buying loads off senses as well I be waiting forever when they do sell in the UK

It's not a motion sensor on the camera. It's a camera that has to interpret what it sees. In that regard, it makes a lot of mistakes by comparison to the PIR sensor on the Wyze Sense.

Yeah so...Wyze has local US servers. I think here you’d be more wondering about the hardware. Still, I think there’s very low risk with these. The biggest thing would be more around network security, but honestly I think they’re ok around that too

Andrea, try completely removing it from the application and re-pair. If that doesn't work, you may try to reset the application by removing the application data.

So Disappointed with wyze cams, the option of micro SD card doesn't mean camers record to micro SD card whenever motion is detected, micro SD card is only for manual recording, I could use my mobile phone to record on my mobile whenever I see Intruders are braking in to my house , I would say what is the advantage for SD card on this cameras ????

Brian - That's not true actually! Your SD cars will receive recordings as you see fit. You can use them to record up to a minute of any event instead of the normal 12 seconds you get to cloud. There's also the ability to continuously record to those MicroSD cards...Something is wrong if you're getting notifications and then not seeing recordings on the card.

See, I asked her if she turned the oven on because our CO2 levels went up in our home! Sadly, I don't think so. Get a friend who's importing a few devices and that'll be your cheapest method. The other thing I find that works is eBay. I've been getting things at approximately the 30% CAD to USD differential plus $20 shipping. That works for the big items. Wantboard and others like them tend to be a lot more. Last thing...parcl.com. It's like getting friends in other countries and works really well for importing a number of things from one vendor.

So this is hard to answer, you'll have to explain what you mean. Wyze does not connect with Hue directly, however an Android TV could use an app called TinyCam Pro to show the Wyze Cams. Google Assistant can connect to Wyze as well, but it really can't do much with the Wyze Sense system yet.

The camera MAC address at 7:07 is in the wrong format and could not be used. This means the entire suite of products is useless for anyone that has MAC authentication for security (most normal security geeks). Glad I saw this, I won't be buying the products! 👌👈

The camera itself has a MAC address in standard IP format. You're looking at the camera MAC address within the 4XX MHz network that Wyze has created for their automation system.

:( If it's not connecting for you, I'd do a quick chat with Wyze's support. You may have a hardware issue. It's pretty much work or it doesn't.

@@mochi_and_me it's a WiFi issue likely...the camera struggles with connections where wifi is busy or the router can't handle a lot of connections

Last thing I'll say here...Wyze Cameras can often be the ones that drop out first. If you add a few other products, you may find some others start to have issues.

@@AutomateYourLife didn't see how to do one? I tried 2 outlets and an Xbox port. Nothing else was on at my place. Tried to connect it close and not so close to the bridge. The 2 sensors and the bridge never connected. Just returned it and getting just the camera instead
