X-FLY Tasman Re-Maiden

After crashing the Tasman on it's 3rd flight and REALLY annoyingly not getting any usable maiden or crash video (Camera's settings were completely wrong), it was time to get it back in the air.
The lower front of the fuse was a bit crumpled and the metal undercarriage plate was pretty badly bent.
The fuse was brought back to a decent shape by dunking in a bucket of hot water and I bought a replacement undercarriage plate.
Two weeks later, it's ready for flight and although the day was clear, the winds were low, the ground was a right bog! Luckily the big balloon tyres worked a treat!

Thanks! Truth be told I nearly dropped it when I tried picking it up one handed :) Not too heavy thank goodness, it has a wingspan of 1.5m.

Hi Joe, I was really lucky that the undercarriage plate took most of the crash impact. I tried straightening it but the result looked horrible. Only took a week to get a replacement one in and in that time I took the motor and ESC out to allow me to dunk the front in some rather hot water which recovered the smaller crumples. I agree, it's a super plane, especially at the offer price I bought it for.

The cameras on the plane are both Firefly Q6's, the headcam is a GoPro Session 5

They are not the toughest of cameras, that's true. I used DJI Action 2s on my quads.

It's a really nice flying plane, the EPO is a bit softer than I would like so I will give it a protective coating (oh, that's content!). I have two Caddx Peanuts myself - the "Flying across 2023" video kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnuUoqZqZr2Ye5Y was all shot on Caddx Peanuts. I see on Thingiverse there a replacement hatch designed especially for FPV !

That's at the Pontefract Model Flying Club and it did get busier later on but I had 'stuff' to get done. This plane was perfect for the day as it was completely waterlogged and those balloon tyres just didn't care :D
