Yoshiki (pianist and drummer) wrote this song about his father, who committed suicide when Yoshiki himself was 10 years old. He still discusses this topic for a very long time, why he did this, and how his life could change. After his death, Yoshiki fell into despair, cried a lot (that's why the song named tears), but he managed to pull himself together in time when his mother gave him drums. Since then, he poured out aggression and anger on the drums, and emotions, feelings, light and sad, on the piano. I recommend the song Rose of Pain (with orchestra).

This is the recorded version. Those are actual strings, not synth. Yoshiki does a lot of classical and classically inspired music. Also, this sound was classic '90s. They filled out stadiums playing 3 days one after the other, to exhaustion. When we heard this music in the late '90s and early '00s, everyone was listening to it. Went off again when KZbin became a thing, and we had access to the live shows. X-Japan is a rare breed. Yoshiki's first song, Endless Rain, stayed in the charts for 34 weeks.

Nossaaa, finalmente outra música do X Japan!! Obrigada, Frank!! 😍😍😍😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I can't understand Japanese but Tears brings me to tears everytime I listen to it (helps though there're some lines of English here), it's amazing how music is a universal language. It's even more powerful after understanding the lyrics and what the song was about. I imagine X Japan is to Japan what Beyond is to Hong Kong. By the way Frank if you have time you can check out Rusty Nail (it's pure rock though, not a ballad).

Love X-Japan. Actually, this music is from early '90s. I think it's from' 91 or '92. It's also featured in their album Dahlia. The poem at the end is from Yoshiki (the drummer, pianist and band leader) to his father, who died when he was a kid

Luna Sea's guitarist Soguzo has been with X Japan since they reunited in 2007, the original guitrist who he replaced, Hide, passed away shortly after thir disbandment in 1998. Thier story is probably more intresting than their music, for me at least. They are also considered the launchers of the "visual kei" wave in Japan. Hide did have the most epic hair in metal at its peak in the 90's, that stuff was almost hanging to the floor.

I was binge watching old X Japan reactions but now i realized (if i heard it right) that you mentioned Luna Sea being one of the japanese music influence for you, the band was actually picked up by Hide and he introduced them to Yoshiki who signed them to his own record company (Extasy Records)

X Japan is the legendary band in Japan. Most of the Japanese rock bands are inspired by them. I would like to recommend you my favorite band [Siam Shade] which I feel is a very telented Japanese rock band, all their band members are so telented. I like their lead vocal the voice is so powerful and bright, lead guitarist with a great guitar solo tapping skill and the rhythm guitarist and backing vocal bring the songs to more rich and full They can play pop rock, hard rock, metal... I fall in love with them when 1st time listen to these songs LOVESICK ~ You Don't Know ~ kzbin.info/www/bejne/qX6WnaOJoNVpqMk Dreams kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXvElYmogaZ1jZI Allergy kzbin.info/www/bejne/haq6hJ-amqp3kNU Of course there are lots more great songs on thier tracks If you have time can explorer more on this band.
