I think a fast-paced story like this is infinitely better than a slow, boring story like The Bad Batch's. One of the big problems that Disney shows in general currently have is that they don't have enough story to fill their runtime, and so far X-Men '97 has thoroughly avoided falling into that trap.

Perfectly said! The slow-burns are not fun to sit thru. Maybe one or two episodes, but an entire season of it just drags.

I agree 💯. I want Grace to calm down, lol. We can’t have this over-stuffed narrative and complicated story with every single detail from every comic. I like this fresh retelling. It reminds me of what the MCU initially did. Love it.

I don't agree, the pacing depends on the type of story and the intention of the team behind telling it. For example, The Last Airbender or Invincible would not be the same if they had this type of narrative. the difference is that those two shows make waiting fun, bad batch doesn't always do the same, they are inconsistent in that part.

I do love how this show gave Madylne some dignity and didn't completly trew her under the bus like the comics. Here she's not a woman gone crazy by a break up who tries to sacrifice her own baby to demons. Instead she helps Scott save Nathan. And i love that it was Jean who reaches out and got trough her and gave her some closure. In the end Madelyne leaves on her own terms to live Her life

Bishop and baby Nathen can still meet Rachel in the future, they simply needed an establish time traveling character to make the trip to the future. They don't have much time to waste with new characters so Bishop was chosen instead. And they would've never had the time to adapt the Cyclops and Phoenix miniseries. Maybe they'll find a creative way to do it anyway, who knows.. Remember, Cable does know who his parents are in the original series. Only time will tell.
@nailinthefashion
@nailinthefashion 2 ай бұрын
The natural progression of that story line is for him to come back as an adult and there’s initially conflict but then he joins the team as Cable. One of the major things they need to resolve is that lingering sentiment of abandonment, that’s like, that whole point of the character so for them to meet as a baby kicks rocks to me (is pointless but something to do)

Elephant in the room: Madeline Pryor wasn’t originally Jean’s clone in the comic, she was just a Jean lookalike. Jean was dead at the time after the events of the Dark Phoenix storyline, so Scott had moved on, married Madeline and had baby Nathan. When they retconned it so Jean was alive and never was Phoenix, they had to find a way to get Scott and her back together. So Madeline was turned into her evil clone. 😂
@jonnelouten8111
@jonnelouten8111 2 ай бұрын
The reason Jean was cloned in the comics was because she was "dead" after the dark Phoenix saga and sinister still wanted the offspring. In this show there's not really a reason for why Sinister clones Jean other than its Mr Sinister.

1. Re: Tony and Forge. The biggest difference is that Tony builds things with his genius intellect, so he understands what he builds and why it works. Sometimes, Forge doesn't. He knows *how* to build things, but because he's building it based on how his mutant power is telling him to, he doesn't always understand how his creations work. That's the advantage of geniuses like Tony, Reed, and Riri over Forge. 2. Team Jean all the way. I loved it when Emma and Tony got married. 3. I hope they do the Storm Forge "relationship " really well, because that "relationship" was quite abusive and stockholm-y in the comics. Forge did NOT come out of that looking good.
@greggoodman4335
@greggoodman4335 2 ай бұрын
I would argue Forge is better. He can still give you what you need even if he doesn't completely understand it (which, even then, is usually only when it's incredibly advanced, far beyond something Tony Stark would be able to understand or build).

IDK why people keep saying they are racing or the pacing is “too fast.” It’s so absurd, like did you watch the original xmen animated show? Do you read comics? 🤦🏽‍♂️. The original was just as fast, if not in some cases faster! Some storylines were one episode, some a 3 episode arc and others continued later down the line by bringing characters back. I don’t understand the whiny “it’s to face paced.” It’s always too fast paced or too slow, there’s no happy medium with people ever! 🤣 *STAHP!*

Did I think the ep moved a little fast ? Yep. Do I understand why they did? Yep! I look at the show as a mini advert to get people hyped about these stories again & to reset audience expectations. A back to basics approach after all the Fox Movie damage. it’s also the most hyped animation since the originals, so I’d say it’s working.

I stopped reading X-men right when all these storylines were created so it's kind of fun to experience them this way instead. I really like the updated animation. I do think it's fun for X-men to be more like a soap opera. You felt it a bit in the X2 and X3 movies when Mystique makes a play for Logan and the Iceman / Rogue / Kitty Pryde triangle. I've always thought Mr. Sinister was kind of a dumb character and that the Madelyn Pryor clone storyline was too, so this is more like an elseworlds series to me, but y'know whatever it's all good. Yeah for future X-men movies let's have lots of weird mutant love scenarios. Bring it on.

I think Grace is disappointed that they made such a faithful sequel to X-Men The Animated Series instead of making an all new X-Men series. Most people seem to love how faithful it is to the original series with how the episodes were paced, how they adapted the existing storylines, etc, but Grace seems to just want a 1 to 1 adaption of the comics & is perhaps frustrated that Disney spent so much time and money on making this instead of the thing Grace specifically wanted. Here's the thing though X-Men 97 is one of the few or only things to come out of Disney+, especially recently, that's been received so positively so it's surprising to see Grace not being on board with it when everyone else seems to love it. Like I said earlier though I think she's disappointed they did such a faithful follow up to X-Men The Animated Series instead of doing something else.

I’m loving this show and this episode continues the trend. Episode 2 is my favorite so far. But even though I’m in X-Men heaven I agree this particular episode’s arc felt rushed. We needed more time suspecting both Jeans, more time with the baby, more time not knowing who is behind it all and also more time not knowing if Bishop would be able to go back to the future. A two parter would have been ideal for this. But there is just so much they can do in a 10 episode series right? Anyway can’t wait for next week!

Can I just say how fantastic you look in the X-Men jacket and your hair pulled back in a ready-for-action pony tail with a Jim Lee/Andy Kubert.Paul Smith-esque sweep to the bangs? I'd read a comic featuring this X-Grace!

I don’t care how fast it’s going. Think of it as the lamens speed run of X men mythos. It’s so fun and amazing.

The Cyclops PR team is working hard on this show. He absolutely abandons his son and wife for Jean in the comics. This show lets him off… scot-free. Talking about “I won’t be like my father!” Whatever man, JUSTICE FOR MADDIE!

Well… here Scott agreed to send the baby to the future (to save him). So there’s no NEGLECTFUL abandoning yet. As for the now baby-less Madelyne… she seemed to choose her solo journey… an agent of her own destiny. She isn’t really putting it TO Scott to stay with her… She outtie.✌️💋

Grace, that Adventures of Scott and Jean comic story is WAY too complicated for this series. 😅We want to keep the fans coming back with the pretty pictures and action with a good amount of source material story, not chase them away with deep lore. You want the focus on the core team, not side bits. Just like the OG series.

I remember the trailer and I knew that was Madelyne Prior. I loved the Jean and Madelyne battle

You were right. They are going very quickly. Apologies lol Definitely getting the cliff notes vibes. This could have been like a 3 episode arc BUT these seasons are so short and so many characters to juggle.

Grace the sirens in the background towards the end were driving me crazy 😂 I thought there was something going on around where I am.

I love Grace’s outfit. I enjoy her videos above most actually, even if I don’t always agree with her like with X-men 97. It’s refreshing to have a show from marvel that’s AMAZING & not bogged down to the MCU thread. It’s most unfortunate that at times Grace spends so much time trying to get ahead of the curve wanting to be “You heard it hear first” because she’s privy to early footage & leaks, that her first reaction/ opinion is all over the place & not always genuine.

I think it was a great episode. I don’t need all the deep inside cuts to make it part 2 3 4 It’s not necessary. It would be cool if it was there, but it’s not necessary.

the very first xmen comics i ever read were the inferno series. and i had no clue what was going on. 😄 the way it was presented in this show made more sense to me now than it did back then lol.

I personally thought this was so much better than the first two. It's still got that 90s cheesiness I don't think I'll ever be a fan of, but it is what it is haha. Like Beast's comment about someone "sinister" was such a dumb introduction to Mister Sinister IMO. In regards to the story you mentioned...did Scott and Jean just rob two people of their lives for 12 years while they inhabited their body or...? haha And I actually didn't really take a side with Emma vs Jean. If anything, it made me not like Scott 😂

The only thing that should come from the Scott, Jean and Emma love triangle is the strengthening of Scott and Jean like how the relationship was shown in Wolverine and the X-Men Scott and Emma should never last or really happen at all
