Also during her dance with Magneto the two points that she looks the happiest are the kiss and the moment when he turns her around and his hand goes over her breast. In both of these cases Rogue's eyes are closed and she's smiling or facing away from him. When she opens her eyes her eyes have a noticeable sadness to them which leads to her realizing that Remy was right. It's almost as though in those eyes closed moments she was picturing Remy.

My wife entered the room as the finale of the episode was happening, right as Gambit said his catch phrase. I'm 30 and this show was my childhood. She asked why I looked horrified and I couldn't even answer. This episode started peaceful, intriguing and down the path of love hoping to give us fans the answer to the greatest Marvel relationship, Rogue and Gambit just for it to turn into a massacre and almost kill 2 iconic characters and succeed in the third. After Storm being "cured", Cyclops and Jean falling apart, Jean and Wolverine having a moment and then all this.. I was shocked immediately and I was in shock for hours after. Well, it's on top tier levels. Every character in this episode had substance. Even the cameos of people dancing, children running around, who ends up dead or as survivors who has to deal with their friends' demise was a stark juxtaposition and serves well to the story. That reminds us that genocide is inhumane and there is no justification of killing kids and innocent civilians.

Kind of random, but I've always liked Star-Lord's line from "Infinity War": "Did we just lose...?" It's deceptively sophisticated dialogue, the opposite of what you ordinarily hear a hero say that late in a film, when, ordinarily, we're about to see him win. And I think for the character, also, it's an unsettling existential reckoning that he's shocked to hear himself say. "Infinity War" is still my favorite Marvel film. A masterpiece of the genre.

The storyline I believe was E for Extinction. I think the end of this episode was based on that and not the Mutant Massacre. In E for Extinction the majority of the mutant population on Genosha is wiped out. The sentinels wipe out almost everyone and from the ashes of that event we got things like second mutations (Emma Frosts diamond form,etc) as well as an Excalibur series with a still alive Magneto trying to rebuild Genosha alongside Charles from the ruble, thus sparking the Magneto was right slogan and the whole Xorn storyline🤷🏻♂️

Logan showed real emotional maturity when Jean kissed him like that, we all remember the time in the "Till Death Do Us Part." episode where Logan skipped the wedding because he was busy destroying robots that looked just like Scott. Logan conceding to Scott and recognizing that he and Jean are just meant to be shows that he's really grown as a character. All that soul searching in Japan must've done him some good.

So can we reserve the writers to continue doing other Marvel projects going forward. This 5 weeks of storytelling is as good as the whole infinity saga of the MCU
@seangrace77507 ай бұрын
That last line Rogue says, “ I can’t feel you” has a double meaning referring to their argument earlier where she was complaining about not being able to touch him. At the end she could finally touch him but it didn’t matter because she couldn’t feel his life force meaning he’s died. Wow beautiful writing, you can tell Kevin Fiege put some time into this to make it right. Just like the Professor I trust in “Fiege ‘s vision”. Now I wonder does this mean we don’t get a live action Gambit? Or maybe we do but in an alternate universe? I’m am shook to my core! They are really switching up the team here no Professor, Storm lost her powers, now both Magneto and Gambit are gone! I know anything is possible in the world of Marvel but currently I wonder where this leaves things. I can’t wait for the next episode!

Makes me feel less alone knowing I’m not the only one that cried during this episode lmao. What an intense episode. I’m not super knowledgeable on the comics of marvel (I’m more of a Star Wars guy) but I grew up watching the old series with my brother so iv always had a soft spot for the X-Men. The dialogue in this whole season is great but this episode was 👌👌superb. Magneto speaking in German hit hard. Great video! Love the content.

HOW DARE YOU NOT MAKE MORE INSIGHTFUL JEAN REFERENCES!! I thought the initial water scene was a callback to the end of X2 where Jean holds back to tidal wave from the burst dam. When she catches Scott and Maddie, she says "don't tell me, you can explain" which were the exact words she said when she walked in on Scott and Emma's psychic affair in the comics. Maddie saying her mind was elsewhere was also something Emma said early on in her affair with Scott. Lastly I gotta believe that the way Emma smirks is a reference to how the writers knew they were swapping her role in that character arc with Maddie. Thank you for coming to my tedtalk Edit: also wanna add that the way Nightcrawler saved Rogue and Gambit, and his injuries afterwards, reminded me of him teleporting Hope to Utopia before dying from having a hand jabbed into his back

I think the Sentinel that showed up was a Sentinel from the future, The Tri-Sentinel! It would explain why Magneto couldn't control or break the sentinel with his powers.
@greenice4077 ай бұрын
The Wild Sentinel is not new, I just found out my self that it already exists from comics - reference New Xmen's E is for Extinction. They came from a Master Mold sited in an Ecuadorian jungle whose AI worked to improve and build sentinels by referencing everything in its vicinity.
@Blimbus-Blombo7 ай бұрын
There were two biblical references that really touched me this episode (keep in mind I’m an ex-Christian): When magneto was talking about how he and Charles had to be like Moses leading the Israelites to the promise land- that essentially him and Charles had to work to build a world that they would never see And secondly, as Ryan pointed out, that Gambit sacrificed himself to save his kind, even knowing that there are those living on Genosha that are opposed to the X-Men (The Hellfire Club for example). That really echoes dying on a cross.

I've missed the politically charged aspects of XMen in the MCU. it's nice to have it back, I've always related to this team more than others. it's nice to have hope for a better future, even when you know someone will hate you just for what you were born as. The original series helped me get though growing up as someone who was different and I'm hoping hoping it helps the next generation too :)
